Family Law

Family Law
During the first covid-19 lockdown my solicitor was made redundant which left me no legal representation for my divorce. This left me very anxious as I was at the stage all was left was to file the papers to the court.

After filling out online application for solicitors, Nero legal got back to me the following day.
I explained my situation and they were more than happy to pick up from my previous solicitor. Explained what would need to be done to get my files sent to them, and me gave a clear breakdown cost of divorce. Once agreed Nero to represent me I paid just under 50% deposit of what I was quoted.
Communication was great, I was kept up to date with progress. Any witness signing of forms was done via facetime during second lockdown allowing the process to continue.
Once divorce was finalised I received an email to inform me it was complete and what to expect next. Last invoice for final payment was for the rest of initial quote. No Hidden charges.

Overall great experience, was very pleased with communication, all done in a timely manner and the price was the same as an average divorce. Would highly recommend Nero Legal.

Additional fees addddddddd up!

Please please please understand that the cheap quote you get from HBC conveyancing is not what nero legal are going to end up charging you. If you do go with them please read their terms of business clearly.

Firstly being quoted roughly 700 for the legal fees of a house sale and purchase total seems appealing but what are those legal fees covering you need to ask yourself? because it doesnt cover any of the work they do for your disbursements like land registry of Scotland. For instance £20 to file advanced notice is the governement fee but they will charge over 50 for completig and submitting it (not covered in your initial legal fees)

Secondly they charge you for dealing with your mortgage provider. Yes great if you are santander when its free but god forbid you were barclays like myself it will be an additional £600

Then they charge you on top if your house is a new build. £120 for the new build/plot but then an additional £120 as you are buying for a company. I thought this was the same thing??? i was told nope, new builds can be bought personally not from companies. who knew. Again not covered in their legal fee quote.

Charged seperately for filing with the land registry, over 100 again not included in the quote.

Luckily when i came to my senses , i changed before any signed missives and used a local conveyancer. yes the legal fee quote was double the intial £300 odd but that includes all the charges ive mentioned that they charge on top!

I urge you if you want to use them, fair enough, but only commit after reading their terms of business carefully and understanding the charges you are going to have. I have saved over £1000 going local.

Lastly, every time they phoned it was to confirm fees usually, then why i question fees, i felt i received a poorly worded response, obviously they disagree and it is a personal opinion.

Overall, please get as many quotes as you can, but you need to delve deeper into their quote! cause what they quote isnt anywhere near what you will pay.

Definitely recommend

Rachael was excellent, super helpful and kept me constantly in the loop. As a first time buyer the process was so daunting and Rachael dealt with all the frustration throughout very professionally and made the process a lot easier. Can’t thank her enough and received great support from other team members at the required times.

Shifty and unprofessional service

I initially tried using them as my house buying solicitor because of a recommendation engine, but the experience was really unprofessional from the start. I looked closely into the reviews and noticed the negative ones, so I switched to another company that was quoting similar rates. The experience with the new company was easy, professional, and gave me complete confidence in them. Avoid unless you have a reason to trust Nero.

Really pleased with our solicitor at Nero Legal. They’ve been very responsive and working hard in the pandemic to get our seller and buyer’s solicitors to meet the completion day deadline.

Professional, courteous and reasonably priced legal services.

This is the third time I have instructed Nero Legal, all of them property matters. Hannah Simmons and her colleagues have concluded all my business in a timely, professional and courteous manner and I would have no hesitation in recommending their services or indeed instructing them on future occasions.

12/02/2021 - 🙏 Thank You

12/02/2021 - F Aitken.

The staff at Nero Legal were excellent, really looked after our interests throughout the whole buying process.

We moved into our new house on the 15/01/2021 no delays everything went fantastic.

As I’m in my later years I did asked about a free Will due to purchasing a property which most solicitors offer when you use them in a purchase, still waiting on the staff getting back to me. Hopefully hear soon.

F Aitken.

Terrible firm

Terrible firm. You get what seems like a cheap quote, but the end bill with inflated add-ons make this firm more expensive than more reputable and experienced firms out there. It's worth paying a bit more on the headline fee than being sucked in with the low-cost fee from Nero. The paralegals they used to do the work are incompetent and caused us a lot of stress. Various unprofessional spelling mistakes made in a house offer document, and crucially did not follow our instructions on what to include in the offer. Worst decision of our life to trust and use this company and cost us a lot more money than using another firm. Absolutely appalling.

Well done Nero Legal

With all sincerity, I could say, "the best thing that has happened to us is utilising the services of Nero legal". The NeroLegal team were so supportive and professional in discharging their duties. Jemma Linwood was great, supportive and never mix emotion with her official duties. As a professional accountant, I can attest that Jemma has displayed a high degree of due diligence in discharging her duties. Karen was also supportive from the beginning till when the offer was accepted.
I strongly recommend Jemma and the Nero legal to without reservation. I bet you, you would not regret your decision using Nero Legal

Jemma and the whole team were fantastic and could not have done more for me. My circumstances were very difficult as I was working abroad and even had limited communications due to an armed conflict in the region but Nero Legal went above and beyond to help me purchase my new house. I could not have asked for more.
Special thanks to Jemma and the whole team you were outstanding
Cheers

Shocking Behaviour from Solicitor

If you look for a solicitor to handle your conveyancing and Nero Legal are returned from your search I urge you to walk away and save yourself a great deal of grief and probably money too. If you are unfortunate enough to be the potential buyer of a property that the seller has engaged Nero Legal to represent them I pity you and would urge you to seriously consider not getting involved. If you do then set a firm and reasonable deadline for the sale and do not go beyond it. Nero Legal are a law firm in the same way that Dr Pepper is a medic. They take forever to respond to the most basic request, fail to engage in any constructive dialogue to achieve a quick and satisfactory resolution to the most basic of problems. They also provide misleading and wrong information to their clients and tell them that the delay is with the other solicitor even though they are the ones with the action. I could not really work out what Nero Legals motivation for this kind of behaviour was but it most certainly wasn't concluding the sale of a clients property. If you are looking for reviews and read this please do your homework and check the short history of this company and also the company that preceded it. Final words, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER.

Appalling service

Appalling service, complete lack of communication, when they did call it was from a withheld number so you couldn’t call back, failed to write to sellers solicitors for three weeks, despite the purchase being urgent they failed to ask for scanned copies and then said “ they weren’t sending me copies of things as I wouldn’t understand” Really!!! Asked for partners details to make a complaint and no response.

Friendly and Efficient Service

As someone from outside Scotland, purchasing a house in Scotland is a little mysterious and confusing - not because it is a bad system, but it is different! Living as we do, a long way from the house we were purchasing, we needed to trust all involved in the process implicitly. That trust has not been comnpromised with Nero Legal, led by our primary contact Jemma Linwood. She and her colleagues have been efficient, friendly and very patient. We are entirely happy with the service they have offered.

I can't pretend I am now proficient in Scottish conveyancing, and am still a bit vague about the lack of documentation so far supplied, but I have been promised that all the papers will be forwarded in due course.

Thank you, Jemma, and more power to the very good value company, Nero Legal.

Thank you very much

Thank you so much Nero Legal and Ashleigh Dollin. Our house purchase was hassle free and the communication from your end was fantastic. As first time buyers we were anxious about going through this process for the first time but you made the whole thing seem easy. We will definitely be using you again and will ask for Ashleigh next time too.
