Despicable customer service.
Despicable customer service.
Cancelled appointments, not calling for telephone appointments not responding to e mails and telephone queues telling you are next in line then after 5 mins telling you to leave a message or call back later.
If I could leave a zero rating I would.

Highly recommend Newmedica Worcester…
Recently visited Newmedica Worcester site for laser treatment and glaucoma assessment and the service was exceptional. All of the staff were professional, helpful, patient and understanding. They gave full explanations of the procedures in a clear manner in terms that we could understand which made a deaf and anxious patient more relaxed. Would highly recommend this service.

The service in the clinic in Whiteley
The service in the clinic in Whiteley/Fareham was correct, although the visit was very delayed, but the approach of doctor Aba Jacob leaves much to be desired. First of all, the doctor did not know why we came, after 2 he chewed gum and whistled to himself, which I consider disrespectful. And finally, the lack of gentleness, as it is known that when examining the eyeball, you need to be gentle and not forcefully push a crystal into the eye. You can do it slowly so that the eye gets used to a foreign body and not like you want to kill a fly. We are very unhappy with this doctor.

I visited Newmedica at their stated…
I visited Newmedica at their stated address in North Hykeham, Lincoln, and was informed that Newmedica had not been there for three years! I couldn't find anyone who knew whether they were in Lincoln at all. This doesn't give me much confidence in the professionalism of this outfit.

first class service…
I have had cataracts in both eyes done at the Brigg unit. From first contact to been discharged the service has been first class. every member of staff are so polite and caring. I have given 5 stars but would give 10 if the option was available. The improvement to my sight is unreal. I can now read very small print without glasses and white is now brilliant white and not cream as it has been for so long. I cannot thank you all enough for your skill, care and expertise in making my world so bright again.
Newmedica Bradford
Newmedica Bradford. 5* Care from start to finish. My optician suggested it was time to consider cataract surgery and I was offered an NHS referral to my choice of providers. I chose Newmedica Bradford and just over 2 weeks later had an initial consultation at Newmedica. The following week I had surgery on my first eye and 5 weeks later my second eye was done. Without exception all of the staff I met at Newmedica were friendly, helpful, and very caring. Tammy the receptionist was very helpful in arranging my appointments to fit in with holiday plans. The consultant who carried out the procedure on both eyes (Mr. Benson) took the time to explain the procedure and answer my questions. During the procedures he was reassuring and calmly explained what was happening. Both procedures were completely painless and not even uncomfortable. I genuinely believe that I could not have received better care and attention if I had paid for private treatment. I have no hesitation in recommending Newmedica. Thank you to Mr. Benson and his team.
Bright sun shiny day
I can see clearly now the blur has gone, I can see all obstacles in my way, I can see clearly now the blur has gone, Its going to be a bright bright sun shiny day. Big up to Newmedica simply the best, better than all the rest. From Michaela Wilks
Never Again!
After visiting my optician, I was sent back to Newmedica with a letter asking why my cataract surgery had given such a poor result. I endured a further month of stinging eye drops followed by injections around my eye. I had appointments a week apart so each eye was done separately. I was told it would feel ‘mildly uncomfortable’ for a few seconds. The first 2 injections were just about bearable but the third had them peeling me off the ceiling. I have a high pain threshold, 3 babies zero pain relief and all that. I’m a retired nurse and had already guessed that this was a novice consultant using me as a guinea pig to gain experience in administering these injections. This I had concluded from the whispers of my original consultant with the receptionist booking the appointments and the extended prep afforded by the accompanying nurse who repeatedly confirmed basic details to the consultant. She also told me after the procedure that ‘there’s no way she could have done what I had done’. I left the premises with blood running down my cheek, the promised dressing having been omitted (cost saving?) vowing never to return. There was no way I was going to offer my other eye up for such barbaric treatment, especially after the consultant said there was no guarantee it would work but was worth trying. Easy to say when you’re not the one on the receiving end. Once home I watched as my eye turned black, puffed up and swollen; the blood shot look I was warned about could never be described as ‘slight’ as the consultant had described it. I looked like something from a horror movie for a week. I cancelled the appointment for the other eye and made a follow up appointment for a month later. Over the next week I received several appointment letters from Newmedica. One confirming my upcoming appointment in January!, one for a February appointment and one for a March appointment all received on the same day, the last day in March!!! I also received a letter confirming my follow up appointment in April which was followed by another letter for the same appointment on a different day, then the day before the appointment, another letter with a different date and time but no explanation as to why it had been changed. I didn’t attend the appointment as by this time Newmedica had shown themselves to be a shambles. Definitely a case of their right hand not knowing what their left is doing, plain incompetence all round. I might add that as an NHS patient I was somewhat grateful I didn’t have to wait on the waiting list for months and months, however, had I have paid for this service as a private patient I would have been up in arms and demanding a refund plus compensation.
Absolutely first class treatment
Absolutely first class treatment. I was very nervous to say the least ! Greeted with care and great kindness. Every single member of staff tried their hardest to make my experience easy. I can’t thank them enough
Very happy with my new lenses
I recently had cataract surgery on both eyes at Newmedica in Abingdon (walking distance from my house). My insurance company, Bupa, said they were happy with the doctor working at Newmedica in Abingdon but not with the clinic in Abingdon. I was told to drive 40 minutes to another clinic where the doctor also worked. I spoke to several Bupa staff but none of my arguments convinced them. Eventually I told Newmedica about my problem and was put in touch with Caroline Meechan,
Private Patient Development Lead at Newmedica Abingdon. Caroline was fantastic! She seems to have magical powers because the day before my first operation, Bupa agreed to have it done at Abingdon.
I can also recommend the clinic in other respects. I felt very well looked after there. All the staff there were very professional, friendly and helpful. Their calm manner takes away any fears patients may have.
What particularly appealed to me during the operation was that no injections were administered, instead the necessary anaesthetic was provided by eye drops alone.
The aftercare and the option to call if I had any problems also helped me through the time after the operation.
Due to the enormous improvement in my vision in the first eye, I could hardly wait for the second operation and now I am delighted with the overall result.
Amazing set up and wonderful people
Both myself and my wife have recently had cataract surgery on both eyes at Newmedica Nottingham. From start to finish the processes were exemplary. The brilliant consultant and staff were so thorough and professional and the overall experiences were second to none. We were both shortsighted, acutely so in my wife’s case - minus 19. The sight changes post surgery are nothing short of miraculous in both our cases. Amazing and wonderful life changing experiences. Thank you Newmedica Nottingham for everything.

Newmedica Norwich excellent service…
I was referred by my optician to Newmedica Norwich as I had cataracts in both of my eyes.
On arriving at the clinic the reception staff where really friendly and the clinic waiting room was spotlessly clean. I was seen by a nurse and an optician who explained all my options. I decided to go private and have special lenses which would give me more freedom with my eye sight and a very good chance I would not need glasses, which I wanted. I wasn't pressurised in a way it was my choice.
I had another consultation with the surgeon who would be dealing my op and he explained everything very clearly.
On 1st surgery date I had great pre op checks and the staff where so lovely and helped you relax. The surgeon was amazing he explained everything again. The procedure was painless and very quick. My eye felt gritty for a couple of days just a little uncomfortable but the drops helped. By day 2 I could see pretty clear and by week 1, my eye had fantastic vision. The same procedure for my 2nd eye, no problem occured.
I had my post op 2 weeks later and saw the surgeon who was satisfied with my results. I am over the moon with the sight I have now, even though I wasn't sure I would get the results as I had had previous eye lasering. I highly recommend this clinic, All the staff from Surgeon to Reception were amazing.
Bad Result - Newmedica Whiteley
I am sorry to have to leave a negative review as all the staff are lovely.
I recently had a cataract / lens replacement.
The procedure itself was quick and painless.
However, the next day my vision was blurred plus I had lost the bottom and peripheral vision.
I contacted Newmedica and was advised that blurred vision for a couple of weeks was normal and not to worry.
I have to say that this is not how it was "sold" to me.
The following day I was still extremely distressed as I make my living driving.
I again made further contact.
Newmedica did not seem concerned and asked me to come in after a few days.
On arrival I underwent various tests and eventually saw their optician.
He was clearly concerned and left the room several times to consult.
Apparently the pressure in my eye high was extremely high.
In my opinion. had I been seen right away perhaps the outcome would have been different.
The pressure build up had caused the blood supply to part of the optic nerve to be cut off.
What was concerning is the attending Ophthalmologist at Newmedica made no effort to see me and left me in the hands of the optician.
I was given some pressure relieving tablets and was directed to the emergency eye ward at the Queen Alexandra hospital.
The staff and Ophthalmologist at the QA were fantastic and really concerned.
I underwent several tests and a blood test to rule out various possible causes.
I was prescribed a course of steroids and various eye drops.
Plus given several follow up appointments.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, it has now been a month since the op.
I have been left with life changing circumstances whereby I have lost around 50% of my vision in my eye and told that it will not improve and there is a chance that it will get worse.
I paid privately, which in itself cost a significant amount.
Needless to say I am an extremely unhappy customer.

Bad experience at Worcester
I had a very bad experience with NewMedica, Worcester, while attending my cataract consultation. Firstly the receptionist was abrupt and unfriendly. The two nurses who did routine tests were more friendly but the tests were very basic. Next lady (optician) was truly awful. Rude, condescending and every time I tried to talk she would interrupt and talk over me. She said she would only put in a -2 lens and not do the other eye. Even though this went against what my optician said would happen. I was uncomfortable that I wasn’t getting the correction treatment plan so refused to let NewMedica do the procedure. I went back to my optician and he was appalled and said he would refer me to Kidderminster hospital. The treatment there was first class. My appointment lasted approximately 2hrs, with them doing many tests, to determine the correct lens, eye health, etc. I’m so glad I took this route as Kidderminster hospital found out my corneas are weak in both eyes and would have to be extremely careful when operating. The day of the op, the Dr said not only would they do the cataract but the would do a procedure on my cornea to help strengthen and improve with my astigmatism. NewMedica not once checked my eye for anything other than a cataract. I’m grateful Kidderminster hospital did their due diligence and did far more checks than NewMedica, otherwise I could have had complications post surgery, which could have potentially been very serious. As a side note, when I told the optician, at NewMedica, I wished to have a second opinion (meaning going back to my optician), she brought out a price list, stating she could get me a second opinion with their consultation and better lens privately, and “do you want to book the appointment now?”. I felt I was being pressured into going private as she refused to do what most people get on the nhs, which is a long distance lens. I then had a call from their staff asking if I wished to book my private cataract op. I told the lady I wouldn’t trust NewMedica and when she found out why, she said she referred this complaint to her manager. I never heard back from the manager so believe this wasn’t taken seriously. Unfortunately, I would not recommend NewMedica to anyone and would suggest waiting a week or two extra and be referred to Kidderminster hospital for first class service.
