Dave and driver John were superb hosts! Dave had a delightful combination of humor and care for all of us. Very much enjoyed hearing about his adventures growing up in the country. Great job engaging... See more

For our holiday from 22 June 2026 to 10 July 2026, my wife and I used Nordic Visitor’s services to combine the ‘8-Day Bergen & Fjords Road Trip’ and the ‘Lofoten Road Trip’. The booking process was quite easy and the documentation provided was very comprehensive. Frida Vestin took care of adding some ‘extras’ to these trips and booked some superb accommodation. With the weather on our side, we had an unforgettable holiday in Norway.

My husband and I recently traveled to Iceland for a 12-day driving journey around the ring road. We worked with Simona Chylova at Nordic Visitor to create an itinerary and book our airport transfers, rental car, and hotels. Our trip was extraordinary! Communications with Simona throughout the planning process and during our time in Iceland were smooth and immediate. The packet we received from the driver who picked us up at the airport included all the final details we needed regarding our travels and hotels.
We experienced only one problem during the entire trip. The rental car we'd been given by Hertz kept losing power and Hertz was not helpful, insisting we needed to find a mechanic to look it over. So, we called Simona, who advocated for us and worked out a swap at a Hertz rental center on our route. Problem solved!
We have traveled extensively in the United States and Europe and have never used a travel agent, but I am so glad we used this service for this trip. I highly recommend Nordic Visitor!

Our tour guide, Ger Murphy made our trip in Ireland fabulous. She gave us the history of each stop and accompanying with music that applied. Pointing out views and landscapes. Suggestions where to go on our free time. Always enthusiastic.
She listened to each individual on what they hope to see and do. My daughter wanted to see an Irish Wolfhound… our guide was able to find and ask the keeper of the hounds to wait till my daughter got there. Needless to say my daughter got to see them and pet them. Another member wanted to pet a lamb…a baby lamb was placed in her arms by our guide. Another member had difficulty walking… our guide showed up with a walking cane for her!
Not only our guide was super but our driver, Liam Hamill as well. Always upbeat. Arriving to each destination safely and quickly. He shared with us about the sport of hurling. Both bought a hurley and a sliotar, showed us how to use it and we got an opportunity to try it.
Everywhere they took us was just amazing. They both not only did their job but you can see they LOVE their job. I believe they went above and beyond.

The thorough planning incorporating our requirements, and suggesting other things we should see in creating a truly custom trip to East Iceland, was really appreciated. Elena-Sofia and Gabriela certainly went above the ordinary for this trip. Thank you!

My brothers, our spouses, and I took a 6-night, 7-day Southern Iceland self-drive tour in early June, and it exceeded our expectations. Our travel consultant, Sotiria Prodromiti, was outstanding. From answering our initial questions about the different tour options to our final booking—and even while we were traveling in Iceland—Sotiria was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and genuinely eager to help.
We made several changes to our flights throughout the planning process and even added a few last-minute excursions. Every request was handled quickly and cheerfully. We also experienced a small issue with our rental car, and Sotiria resolved it immediately, allowing us to continue our trip without any stress.
We chose the Superior accommodations with breakfast included each morning, and we were very pleased with the hotels. Each one had its own unique character, the staff were expecting our arrival, and check-in was seamless. Our favorite was the Magma Hotel, which offered a beautiful setting and a memorable stay. Many of the hotels also had excellent on-site restaurants, making dinner convenient after a full day of exploring.
We participated in several of the optional excursions, including the Blue Lagoon, Laugarás Lagoon, the Fjallsárlón Iceberg Lagoon Boat Tour, the Buggy Adventure to Mýrdalsjökull Glacier, and the Lava Tunnel tour. Every excursion was well organized, and the vouchers provided by Nordic Visitor made check-in quick and effortless. Each experience was ready for us upon arrival, allowing us to simply enjoy the adventure.
Our entire trip was exceptionally well planned from start to finish. If you're considering a self-drive vacation in Iceland, I wholeheartedly recommend Nordic Visitor. Their attention to detail, excellent customer service, and seamless organization made our vacation truly unforgettable.

Our guide, Ger Murphy, was exceptional. She was knowledgeable, fun and went above and beyond for everyone on the tour. Our driver, Liam, was an absolute delight. The tour was well thought covering history, contemporary issues, nature and culture. The accommodations were comfortable. Exceptional experience - made it easy to fall in love with Ireland!

It's the little things for me. We were picked up on time, our guide (Touriste) was AMAZING. He led us to each location with stories, history, humor and met with the contact person at each place and picked up our keys, tickets, or let them know we were there so we weren't all waiting in line. Hands down, best tour ever!!!!!

My wife, 22 year old granddaughter, and I went on the 7 day Iceland "small group tour" July 5-11. Had a great time. Nordicvvisitor provided all the information we needed. Tour Guide / driver Albert made us all comfortable. We never felt rushed and enjoyed the entire trip!

´We had a wonderful trip to Ireland. The group was small and we connected well. The guide was great - knew Irish history well and was good in sharing his knowledge. The driver knew his way around Ireland and gave good tips on things to see. The save for Belfast was excellent. Due to riots in Belfast, Nordic Visitor opted to move for safety concerns, to a Salt hotel in Bellycastel instead. We had a wonderful drive from Belfast by the shore, small towns by the see and small harbors at one side and farms on the other. The trip to Irland was all we hoped for.

Iceland was a trip of a lifetime thanks to Hanna and Nordic Visitor! Accommodations and recommendations were all top notch. I wish that I could give more than 5 stars.

Emiliano was amazing. He made the trip a fantastic experience.
The Mercedes van seats that we traveled in were narrow and not that comfortable. There was no place to hold the water bottles that were suggested that we bring.

What a trip, we did a 14-day self-drive trip around Iceland and West-fjords.
The Hotels was amazing from start to finish and all the material we received was from the team (road map, day to day itinerary) was so helpful and detailed you don't need Google. Thank you team and a very big thanks to Simona for all the assistance and help you provided us.
I will recommend this to anyone, and we can’t wait to plan our next trip with you.

We have done 3 self drive trips with Nordic Visitor and all 3 have been excellent. The last one was in Iceland. Our advisor was Gudrun and it was on short notice and she worked hard to make all the arrangements.

My son and I took our first trip to Iceland with Nordic Visitor and I could not be more pleased with the trip! The itinerary provided had us visit the most beautiful places across the land; waterfalls, historic sites, and towns. Havar, our guide and driver, is a wealth of knowledge who had an answer for all things Iceland! Sotiria, our travel contact with Nordic Visitor, answered my many questions and helped in any way she could both prior to and during our trip. I highly recommend Nordic Visitor for an exceptional tour of Iceland!

They found us great hotels and inns, arranged for a car and train, and some wonderful day trips -- talk about hassle free! Super responsive and lovely people to work with. Would definitely recommend them if you are going anywhere in Scandinavia!

Ireland is great country to visit. The group we travelled in was small but tight. The guide was well educated in Irish history, the car driver helpfull and hotels in most cases great. Good expirence and owerview ower history, landscape, old buildings and castles. Museum, gardens and small villages lifted yhe expiriense up. The only negative was if it was too long time between pouses and wc stopps

From beginning to end, planning this trip with Nordic Visitor was a delight; it could not have been any easier. My trip advisor - Jemima - asked the perfect questions to determine which excursions were right for me and then planned the itinerary around them. I had plenty of down time and inserted wonderful hikes in the various towns. This trip exceeded all expectations!!

This was our third Nordic Visitor self-drive booking, after Iceland and Ireland, so this review comes from a repeat customer who likes the self-drive concept but has now seen the same flaw three times.
What Nordic Visitor does well is real and worth saying. The pre-trip organisation is excellent: we arrived to a professionally produced, ring-bound itinerary and a map with our whole route and every overnight marked. The logistics were seamless from start to finish, with ferries, tickets and handovers all in order and nothing falling through. When one hotel failed to honour our agreed twin-room requirement, our consultant fixed it immediately and personally, contacting the remaining properties to confirm. The car hire arrangement was smooth and professional. Credit where it is due on all of this.
The problem is the heart of the product: the driving. Nordic Visitor sells comprehensive itineraries on the promise that you can see a country in a set number of days, and in our repeated experience you cannot, not at leisure. Too many days are built around driving for most of the day. Our Scotland itinerary was sold as seventeen days and, having done it, it genuinely needs around two more to be enjoyable. We had to add days ourselves to break up the worst stretches — most notably a day that expected us to take a morning ferry off Orkney and then drive around 250 km of single-track North Coast 500, with sightseeing stops, to Ullapool. That is not a holiday, it is an endurance drive.
The stated driving distances also give no sense of reality. On single-track Highland and island roads, behind slower traffic, real journey times can easily double. The itinerary timings simply do not account for this, which makes them unreliable for planning your day.
I would also flag two things for prospective customers. First, accommodation is pitched high — premium hotels with spas and facilities you have no time to use when you are driving all day and leaving early. A more modest, consistent standard would suit this kind of trip better and cost less. Second, we were repeatedly told we had to pre-book hotel dinners weeks ahead due to demand, which turned out to be untrue everywhere; on arrival we were simply asked what time we would like a table. That left a poor impression.
On value, I am not convinced. Set against what the car, the accommodation and the ferries would have cost arranged independently, the premium we paid seems to have bought over-specified hotels we could not use and driving days we could not enjoy.
One concrete, constructive suggestion that would genuinely help: Nordic Visitor should provide proper driving guidance, ideally a short mandatory video at car collection, on single-track-road etiquette and UK driving. The standard of driving from hire vehicles on these roads was poor, and a leaflet in the welcome pack is not enough.
Would I use them again? Possibly, but only with my own substantial changes to slow the itinerary down, and with clear eyes about the price. If you are an independent-minded traveler, treat the suggested timings as optimistic and budget extra days from the outset.
I should also add that I did email this exact feedback to Nordic Visitor 3 weeks ago but received no response.
