Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the service, citing issues such as flight delays, missed connections, and a lack of basic amenities like meals on longer flights. Customers frequently encountered problems with the booking process, particularly when trying to add luggage or manage changes, often leading to frustration and additional costs. The customer service was consistently described as awful, with reports of unhelpful staff, long waiting times, and a complete lack of communication or support when issues arose. Reviewers also felt the pricing for additional services, especially baggage, was extortionate. Conversely, some people were satisfied with the staff, describing them as polite, considerate, and caring. These customers also appreciated the affordability of tickets, especially when combined with early bookings and loyalty points, and found the flights to be on time and the airline family-friendly.

Charges $100 for a staff members mistake.

Was charged $100 for having a small backpack as well as a carry on by a ground staff who claimed economy passengers weren't entitled a second item. When I checked my ticket which showed I was, the staff refused to budge. I contacted the airline about this who claimed that if I was charged it 'must have been' because the bags were too big. The staff member literally said I was being charged for having a backpack with me. I purchased both bags for this trip with Norwegians size guidelines in mind. I measured the bags myself and offered to provide proof of this but was ignored. I submitted several more complaints and was ignored each time. I wrote dozens of emails that were also ignored. I was charged $100 for a mistake that Norwegian airlines ground staff made. Furthermore being expected to pay $4 for water on a 7 hour flight is immoral and illegal.

Have dealt with refunds terribly.

I had booked flights to go away over easter holidays, obviously due to the situation those flights were cancelled nearly 6 months ago now.

When I finally got an answer from them as to how refund would be dealt with I was told refunds could take upto 3 months. This seemed like an awfully long time but I waited it out. 3 months came and went and nothing. I rang again and they told me to put the claim in again and that they couldn't see if it had been processed etc and there was nothing they could do.

After this nothing happened again, called again was told again to put the claim in. My flights were over two bookings so had to do this twice. One confirmation email came though saying I would be receiving a full refund and around 3 weeks later I did for that one flight. However the other still no sign of them even acknowledging my claim. I've called since and again they have said that they can't check it and there is nothing they can do. Seems like a completely flawed refund system with no plan behind it. I have seen other reviews writing that they have received them in weeks - no sense in this refund system.

My second favourite airline.

I love Norwegian Airlines. I’m London based and travel to New York a lot cheaply with them. Customer service is excellent. Air crafts are better than the cheaper airlines comfort and cleanliness wise. I like being able to book separate tickets and their 24hr refund policy. I hope they get their financing issues sorted out. Booked LGW to JFK for December 2020 for under £300.

Now approaching 5 months to get a refund....

The fact that they have failed to respond to negative reviews tells you everything you need to know about this company.
I had to fly back from LAX early as no further flights were arriving into the USA from Tuesday March 17th therefore there would be no flights back to London on the Thursday 19th, my booked return. I had to pay for my additional flight and sure enough the return flight on the 19th was cancelled. I have been trying since March to get a refund. I have received three emails from them telling me how busy they are but nothing has been done about returning my money. I have had to re-book other flights, holidays, hotels etc during the pandemic and even though the companies I dealt with are experiencing the same problems with staff shortages, at least I have had some sort of response....but not with Norwegian.
They deserve to fail if they have so little regard for their customers.

What a scheme!

They really do not even deserves one star! Never have I ever experienced so poorly managed service. After Norwegian changed my flight date with more than 3 days, I can't reach the flight since I'm in another country at the time (also booked with Norwegian) the "service"-helper simply tells me "too bad"!! No refund, no flight change. Just out both the money and the travel. What a scheme!!

Fantastic service for booking ref RJCN4X

I cannot fault the way Norwegian has dealt with us. I cannot speak for other customers but we had Flights booked for October going to Orlando, we recieved notification end of June that flights were cancelled and was given a choice to receive a credit Points plus 20% extra or a full refund. We chose a refund and I’ve got to be honest I expected I would be in for the long haul....to my amazement and to Norwegians credit I had the full refund for tickets within 10 DAYS!
Fantastic service......love flying with you guys and will definitely be rebooking with you when things Settle down.

However there is a sting in the tail, which is not Norwegians fault. One of our party booked The same flight with Netflights NEVER AGAIN. They did / have not recieved any comms that the flight was cancelled and have not responded to any requests for a refund with their website stating it is the fault of the airline....

Moral of the story is I will always book direct with Norwegian in future.

Norwegian was a stress free experience for us

Worst Airline

Worst Airline! Worst Website, Worst Customer Services! They hide behind a name that supposedly fools you that they are better than any other low cost yet when it comes to Refunds and rebooking they have no idea about the rules within the EU. The website doesn’t work for a refund. Call them and then they say there is nothing they can do as it needs to be done via the website. It’s OK to make millions when everything is fine but to get your money back is a absolute disaster. DONT FLY WITH THEM! DONT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!

Ignore the generally bad reviews

Not a bad word to say about this company amidst the chaos of this year for the aviation industry. Had the email last week to inform us that our flights had been cancelled for our honeymoon in December. I applied for a refund rather than voucher straight away which I had the notification to say it had been accepted 2 days later (Thursday last week). I look on my credit card statement today and the money has already been refunded - the literal next working day. How can you argue with cheap flights, grounding of their whole long-haul fleet to avoid going into administration, early notification of cancellation to allow customers to re-book with another airline in plenty of time and refunding their customers honestly and quickly? I hope they resume services successfully next year and would definitely book again. Thank you.

Good Airline

Flown Norwegian before. Nice flight on a new plane. Cheap tickets.

During COVID they had to cancel a flight. I could go on-line to request a refund unlike many of the bigger carriers who need you to call and wait for hours.

I got my refund two weeks later with no hassle.

I wouldn’t recommend using Norwegian

I wouldn’t recommend using Norwegian, please avoid at all costs!!! I paid £800 for flights that they cancelled on us and we are still waiting since March for the refund. Customer Service is non existent and I have had to report as fraud as it doesn’t look like they intend to pay our money back.
Just a heads up as could save you a lot of stress in the future. British Airways refunded in 7 days, sometimes cheap isn’t always best!!! It deserves NO stars!

Delivered us to a different airport. No communication, no explanation as to what was happening after 10 hour delays, the staff banded together in a clique and didnt talk to any passengers at all. Refused to refund us until a solicitor had to get involved

My sister and I had a package holiday…

My sister and I had a package holiday to New York booked through Love Holidays with Norwegian as our airline and were due to fly on April 1st. We were told by them that we need to go directly to Norwegian for our flight to be refunded. Today is 10.6.2020 and Norwegian have not responded to us accept once on Facebook, telling us they were refunding in order of flights. WE ARE NOW IN JUNE! We have also seen plenty of people claim they have been refunded for flights this month!! It's looking like we've been robbed... We get that these are unprecedented times, but we are entitled to our money back and transparency when we will be receiving this. I had heard good things about Norwegian and had been considering booking a flight with them for a while. This is the first time using them and I never will again now. Disgraceful practice, especially during these times.
