Lifechanging
We purchased a Nuaire Drimaster Heat last summer as a last resort after trying every other way to stop condensation in our bungalow. It has been lifechanging.
For three years we had windows running with condensation whenever the outside temperature fell below 7 degrees centigrade.
Have just had the coldest week for the last ten years and even at minus 6 degrees outside we have not had a single spot of condensation anywhere.
The bedroom window which was always the worst remained bone dry. No more mopping up every morning.
We installed it ourselves and for anyone with a bit of DIY experience it's a days work.
Had fun and games getting the extra controls set up, especially the humidistat, but the guys at base are very good and talked me through it over a couple of phone calls. Personally if buying again we would skip the humidistat and CO2 controls and only have the booster switch.
If doing it yourself one tip I would give is to spend a little extra on cable and put the switch inside the house rather than in the loft. If resetting the device you need to switch the power off so at present I have to switch off the whole circuit at the fuse box so when the weather warms up I'm off into the loft to correct that.
Very cold but definitely works
We have had a Nuaire dri eco heat fitted and although we knew it wasn't a heater we didn't expect it to blow constant cold air out. We live in a small bungalow and although it does seem to be working for the condensation I am now constantly cold. As I am retired I am in the house all day and now sit with a fleece blanket and hot water bottle to keep warm during the day. I'm now not allowed to close the bedroom door at night (as that's where we get the condensation) so I'm cold during the night and the noise of the fan keeps me awake as I am a very light sleeper. If you are thinking of buying the heated version you are wasting your money. Consider the one with no heating but do take into consideration that you will have cold air blowing constantly into your house. It does not work out very economical as I have had to turn the heating up to compensate for this. I hate it but my husband loves it!
Purchased a Nuaire Flatmaster 2000 L/R…
Purchased a Nuaire Flatmaster 2000 L/R for use in basement that was a little ‘musky’ due to poor ventilation. I installed the unit 9 months ago and it was quite straight forward to fit and install. The unit has been working well and I am very pleased with its performance and the resulting filtered fresh air ventilation. My dealings with Nuaire after sales in regards advice and spare filters etc have been positive. The only issue i have had thus far with the unit was a build up of condensation on the inlet pipe, but this has since been overcome by repositioning the air unit to reduce the length of the inlet pipe work within the basement, my fault initially for not reading the installation instruction section that advises to keep the inlet pipe as short as possible. Good value for money product. Would certainly recommend it if you have a basement that is in need of some fresh air.
Damp bungalow for 18 years - fixed!
We bought a dormer bungalow in 2002. No damp issues, but it had been owned by smokers and needed ripping through completely. The survey mentioned that the property was partially single glazed and the wooden french doors were a security risk and needed replacing. And it was COLD.
We double glazed right thorough, had cavity wall insulation fitted, ripped out the bathroom and installed a decent shower. Within months our house was running with condensation. Our bedroom had wallpaper was peeling off the walls and there was black mould around the windows.
We tried insulating, it just moved the coldest place in the house. Recently I googled, "Damp bungalow" and found nuaire. OMG. We've had it installed for around 3 weeks. (We've also fitted at better extractor fan in the bathroom - turns out the electrician had fitted a £30 one that was USELESS.) We have dry rooms, checking the humidity monitors is a house sport. Our damp bedroom used to have 80% plus humidity and is down to around 60%. The lounge is now so dry we've considering a bowl of water in front of the log burner. The wallpaper around the bedroom window is finally dry. That has never happened in winter the whole time we've lived here.
Drawback? There is a small, very localised cool stream of air in the hall. I don't spend any time there, it's a thoroughfare.
We are very pleased.
I ordered a Nuaire Dri-Eco-Heat PIV…
I ordered a Nuaire Dri-Eco-Heat PIV unit from a company called Platinum Chemicals in Glasgow earlier this year. just after the Pandemic started.
The first unit I bought had a clip broken and I contacted the seller and they in turn contacted Nuaire to ask for a replacement. Nuaire agreed to replace the unit and I received the unit the next day and they also arranged collection of the faulty unit. Unfortunately the replacement unit I got developed a fault and I again contacted my seller and spoke to Robert at platinum Chemicals and he again contacted Nuaire. Once again Nuaire sent me a new unit the next day without any quibble. This review is for Platinum Chemicals and Nuaire who together were excellent with the after care service they both provided. In the world we live in now it is rare to find not only one company but two who's customer service is great. I cannot recommend both these companies highly enough. I have had really poor service from various companies I have ordered goods from this year and the biggest excuse was Covid-19 IE "we don't have enough staff to man our phones"
or non existent delivery times ETC. (however they were quick to take my order and my money).
Platinum Chemicals and Nuaire accepted my problems without making me feel like I was a nuisance.
Straightforward honest Company
I have had the Drimaster 2000 for many years, great product which failed lately. After talking to After Sales Service. Nuaire replaced it with a DRI-ECO-HEAT. Excellent updated product, simple installation. Nuaire are a straightforward honest company to deal with, very helpful staff.
I had a problem with one of their units…
I had a problem with one of their units which was three years old,James at aftersales was most helpfull, they sent a new unit to replace the old, this is now up and running. They sent a collection note for the old one which had to be returned for inspection. Most impressed by this companies policy.
Horrible horrible
Our Nuaire Drimaster Heat was installed just under a week ago.
Turns out we paid a small fortune to cut a hole in our landing ceiling and install a draft. It's been blowing frigid air into our house ever since and our central heating just cannot keep up.
I contacted Nuaire and literally begged for help (we have very young children including a newborn).
Their only concern was that the unit was working as designed.
It is. It's forcing the temperature of our house down to 10-15°C.
I suggested that this was a problem, since we could have achieved the same solution to condensation just by leaving windows open, and I asked whether they were working on a solution. Their response:
"There is no problem to correct, The heater is a 400 watt heater and at 15 degrees with moving air it is going to feel cold."
"the heater just to take the bite off the cold"
"These units are marvellous for curing condensation but are known to be cold" (we had no idea what the heated version was known to be cold).
Our happy home is now a disaster. Our daughter, who insists on sleeping with her door open, is now sleeping in with us and the baby.
We have no idea what to do, if we're just waiting for warmer weather then why did we pay so much more for a heated version? It looks like we will probably have to remove the unit and get the ceiling replastered when we can afford to.
ECO PIV Installation Instructions/Material
The ECO HC PIV is a great product that will solve many problems related to condensation and I'm very pleased with it. But the whole experience is let down massively by their installation instructions. The instructions refer the installer to a template on the box lid which is to be used to cut a hole in the ceiling where the diffuser will be installed. Be careful NOT to use that because lurking elsewhere in the box is a single folded sheet of paper (which is located in the middle of other marketing material) telling you that the instructions are wrong and to use the template on the sheet instead - if you use the original template the hole in your ceiling will be too big. Perhaps if Nuaire were to print the correction on colored paper or write the words, IMPORTANT on it in big letters, or somehow point the installer to that piece of significant information it might help. As things stand the revised instructions sheet have just been tossed into the box and almost hidden from view. Very disappointing.
5 Star company,
5 Star company,
fantastic technical help choosing which product will best suit your house and very helpful with information in general, i went for the flatmaster years ago and its been amazing for my house, I've recommended them to neighbours who have also bought their products and mentioned how good their customer service is.
i've also just contacted them regarding service parts and again they are very helpful, its not like dealing with a company who have products for sale, its more like checking into a hotel and seeing how they can best look after your needs, which has prompted me to leave a review this time.
