This company is scam

This company is scam. Stay far, far away! I have been waiting for my payment for 4+ months. Wish there was a negative star optoi. First they low balled me on the offer, stating it was in fair condition. In reality, it was in excellent condition, both internally externally. After weeks of waiting for payment, I sent a text and was informed that they no longer sending checks. They asked for me to submit my bank information, which I did and told that I would get my payment direct deposited the following week. Two weeks then went by and no payment was received. I reached out by text, no response. I sent emails, no response. I called trying them directly, they conveniently never answered the phone. Left voice mails and no return call. In the meantime, I'm sure they they resold phone and made a good profit. I tried to give them chance after chance to make this right and they choose not to. I should of done better research before trusting company many have similar situations. Again, do yourself a favor and don't even attempt to trust this unethical company.

It took over a month to get a payment…

It took over a month to get a payment for a simple trade-in sale. This company proves to be hard to get ahold of during my experience.

- I sent in my Nintendo Switch to sell, it arrived to them on May 6th.
- I texted their support number on May 13th after not seeing an update and got a message that the number wasn't accepting texts.
- I then contacted them by email and web form on May 14th, finally then got a response that same day to accept an updated offer to a difference in device condition. I accepted the offer the same day.
- After 2 weeks of no response & no payment, I submitted a web form contact on May 28th about the payment status, I received no response.
- I them attempted to call them on June 5, and instead got a message that their phone number was not accepting calls.
- That same day I replied to one of their Facebook posts about a delay in processing, to which I finally got a reply in Facebook Messenger. They then immediately ghosted me after sending their first message.
- 5 days later on June 10th I decide to contact them by email again, and only then do I FINALLY get payment sent to me.

I thought I would get a good experience with a small business compared to larger companies, especially since SellCell reported that NYC Phone Buyer had a high trade-in rate, but I was proven wrong. I would recommend going with one of the slightly larger device selling companies as you will have a much better experience there.

SCAM ALERT

SCAM ALERT! Bait and switch.

DO NOT work with this dude. I sent this man a brand new phone and he replied back that it had screen damage and cycle damage and dropped the quote by $300. Then he didn't send my devices back.

The address in Albany is a UPS Store. He also has Swappa, EBay, and IG accounts.

I've started a class action lawsuit against him. Hit me up to join and there's no fee as the lawyers are taking this on pro bono.

DO NOT SELL TO THEM!!

DO NOT SELL TO THEM!!! Where to begin…my son sent them his apple watch to sell months ago. They came back with a lower offer then they originally quoted (watch was in perfect condition as it was never used) and my son accepted because it was already taking so long. They kept saying they were going to send payment and never did, so my son told them to send his watch back. After waiting awhile again, he gets a package from them today. Keep in mind his watch was a black apple watch with a black band. They sent him a damaged rose gold colored watch. This is the most unprofessional, scamming company I have ever seen! Smh.

SCAM.....BEWARE

Don't sell it to nycphonebuyer.com. My iPhone 15 Plus was in mint condition and trade in offer was $515. The offer was dropped to $465 when the phone was delivered. I accepted the offer and they promised to pay me through Zelle but I did not receive the payment. I called after 3 days and they said that we have issue with Zelle and we can send you payment through check. I got the check after 10 days and it was not cashed out because of insufficient fund. They stopped responding me and finally I contacted them after many days and they promised me to send payment through PayPal. It took one week to receive the payment through PayPal and I got $450 after PayPal fee. it was so frustrating and waste of time to deal with them. BEWARE AND READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE SELLING TO THIS COMPANY.

Absolute scam of a company

Absolute scam of a company. I should’ve checked the reviews before sending them my property, but lesson learned. As many others have mentioned, they pull a bait and switch. They lure you in with a higher offer, then make up fake reasons to lower their offer upon receiving your device. My phone fit the ‘average’ condition exactly. There was no mention about screen replacement not being allowed. This isn’t even mentioned in the description for ‘good’ or ‘flawless’. The screen was replaced and in perfect functioning condition with no scratches or cracks, as required. However they are now reducing the offer from $223 to $68 for this bogus reason. You’re better off trading in directly with AT&T or the like - at least these are large companies that are held accountable, unlike these thieves.

Similar experience as all of the prior…

Similar experience as all of the prior reviews. My iPhone 13 was in flawless condition. It was in a case and had screen protector since day one. Their offer was for a fair condition phone. They send me a video showing very small scuff marks along the corners of the back of the phone. Don’t know if they put them there but I wouldn’t doubt it. They upgraded their offer to the next step up and didn’t let me know they had done this. I eventually found out about the upgraded offer and accepted it. They told me that all of the pay options were on hold and said that the best way would be to get a paper check mailed to me. I received the check in about 8 days and deposited it. A week later the check had bounced and now they say that they can’t use paper checks any more because of changing their bank and instead they use ACH and send the money directly into my account. Still waiting for that to happen. It’s been 28 days since I agreed to the offer and still no money.Over all I would have given this dreadful company a 0 star if it was an option. Don’t use this company. I will be opening up a fraud claim with the New York State attorneys office soon.

Horrible Experience.

Horrible Experience.

I searched online for companies to buy my iPhone 15Pro Max before I even ordered my 16Pro. This company offered the most money and gave me 30 days to send it in, which was great since I still needed to get the new phone and transfer the data. That was the last positive part of the story.

I sent it in and tracked the package through the USPS website. A whole month later, I had yet to hear from them. After texting, calling, and emailing several times, I finally got a response that they had sent me the money via Zelle. The only problem was that I had yet to receive the money. They initially wanted to make it my problem, but I pushed back hard.

After two weeks, they finally said the transaction had failed and that they would send me a check. However, the check amount was 200 dollars below what was agreed when I sent it in. They claim to have emailed me about it, but that was clearly a lie, like the whole Zelle business.

And then the check bounced. I am currently working with legal council to recover my money. I f I could sue them out of business to prevent this from happening to others I would.

This is a terrible and dishonest company that no one should do business with.

I have learned my lesson and will stick to a reputable company like Gazelle.

Horrible experience same as everyone else. Absolutely flawless phone that has been in a case and with a screen protector, zero scratches or issues yet suddenly was a ‘fair’ offer versus flawless due to unknown scratches and non disclosed issues. There was an email back and forth with them upping the offers slightly and the finally I had to send them a label to send it back if I wanted insurance on my phone coming back (you can guess what would’ve happened without). Scam bait and switch. This company needs to be investigated, and we should all file a report with the better business bureau. Don’t send them your phone!

NYCPhonebuyer downgraded condition

NYCPhonebuyer offered the highest price and longest lock-in period among other trade in companies - for excellent or good condition. However, upon receipt, they downrated the phone to “Fair” due to a very small nick which I couldn’t see in my photos before sending. They offered essentially 50% of the “Good” quoted price. (This gap between “Good” and “Fair” is much greater on NYCPhonebuyer than it is on other trade in sites - both because the Good price is higher and the Fair price is substantially lower). I rejected the offer. I gave them a label to send to another trade in site (which was helpful that they would do that). After a week, they sent it out, and that new site accepted the phone as “Good” condition. I’d likely not sell to NYCPhonebuyer again as it seems they may downgrade condition ratings more aggressively than other sites and offer lower values for those lower ratings.

Do not use NYC Phone Buyer

They start out with a good offer and then lowball the crap out of you with made up excuses. It is also a very long drawn out process unlike their quick payment claims. It took me over 20 emails over a 2 week period to finally receive an offer $157 under the original quote. It is very much a bait and switch. The phone sent to them was absolutely flawless so they then claim that the earpiece was dirty. The phone was never without a case or screen protector and was used exclusively hands free with AirPods Pro. They tried to claim that the sound was “muffled.” Total Scam…

DO NOT SELL YOUR PHONE TO THIS COMPANY

DO NOT SELL YOUR PHONE TO THIS COMPANY! Sent in an iPhone to trade in flawless condition but they revised to "good" upon inspection. THEIR PRICE LOCK guarantee is a lie as it says they only offer CURRENT price if the condition changed! I have traded in with other companies and never have a problem like with this company! STAY AWAY!
