disgrace from o2 germany

I would like to warn everyone doing contract with O2, they behave like criminals, I received 2 sim cards with nice deal for a couple but unfortunately we had almost no network in our area in Cologne and were unable to use internet at all on 5G or 4G, that I also reported. I have cancelled contracts within 2 weeks on O2 own website and now they are pretending it is not possible and I have to pay for the contract next 2 years even I won't use them. I wrote 2 times to the headquarters and sent them proof of the cancellation and now they are pretending it is not possible. I am taking this case further since this is unacceptable behaviour.

Hello Hamza Michal,
i am sorry that you are dissapointed with our services.
If you sign an online contract in germany, you have the right to make a revocation within 14 days, but only for contracs signed online or via telephone.
If you send in a cancelation during this 14 days the contract will be canceled at the end of the minimum term, normaly after two years.
What exactly have you send in?
If we are allowed to support you, please contact us via FB messenger or the o2 community, i am pretty sure we will be able to help you.

Terrible O2 top-up system!

Terrible O2 top-up system!
I spent one hour trying to set up automatic debit for my O2 prepaid SIM card. At first, on the My O2 page, I was told that I needed to sign a document and mail it physically to their office because I used a Spanish bank account. It was ridiculous, and I just gave up on this method. Then, all the other payment methods on the My O2 page were frozen. I had to search for another way. I payments on aufladen.o2online were available. I first tried automatic debit and went through the process, but nothing happened in the end. So I just transferred 10 EUR and this time it worked. Later I cancelled the automatic debit on aufladen.o2online.
Just now, I received a message that an automatic debit occurred, and O2 has applied a fee of 4 EUR for the failed transaction. Why should I pay for this awful system mistake?

Luckily the customer service solved this problem, I hope they can improve the system~

From prepaid card to automatic subscription

I’ve used O2 for over a year now and took a prepaid rechargeable sim card. However, one day, my O2 prepaid card contract automatically turned into a 14,99€ subscription per month. So I check the O2 website because I haven’t been able to download the app due to some error. From there, I terminated the subscription yet I’m stil getting charged. So I contacted the customer service and after waiting for 10 minutes I was able to get online with someone who told me that he would transfer me to another person. I ended waiting for 30min without any answer so I called the number again but they didn’t pick up. Completely ridiculous and it is such a hassle to stop the contract. Would not recommend at all.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience! Ive just signed a contract with O2 for the wi-fi. I bought a new router. A specialist came to set up the Internet connection at home. In the end it is over a month that I do not have a Wi-Fi and I work online with my husband. Whenever I call they do not know how to fix it and constantly sent a technician who shows up just to tell me that from technical point of view everything works and it's something wrong within the system of the company cuz we are not the first case with this situation. After that they scheduled another appointment with technician that didn't even show up and Ive received a bill to pay for my Wifi - ridiculous! Totally not recommended and definitely calling the next working day to cancel the contract.

I applied to buy a phone from O2 on the…

I applied to buy a phone from O2 on the 3rd of May. I completed the purchase on the 7th of May but didn't receive any email confirmation or communication from them. After waiting a few days without any update, I called their customer service. Initially, they claimed not to have received any payment. After some double-checking, they acknowledged my payment but informed me that my order was refused, and I was told to expect a refund.

However, on the 13th of May, I received another payment link from O2. Believing the issue might have been resolved, I made another payment of 185.99 euros. The next day, I received an email stating my order was rejected again, without any explanation. Despite my repeated attempts to get answers and a refund for the two payments totaling nearly 400 euros, O2 has not resolved the issue. It's been over a month, and I am still without a refund or any satisfactory response from their customer service.

This experience has been incredibly frustrating, and I am very disappointed with the lack of communication and support from O2. I strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with this company.

Warning SCAM at O2

SCAM Warning. O2 are criminal. If you buy at a o2shop or o2 partner they don't recognise you. Fkn Gangsters. They say NO 14 Day "Widerruf". If from an fkn agent or shop. How would anyone know?
Now o2 sent another email saying they are NOT responsible because I went to a o2 Shop.
What a SCAM. A Shop Is worthless then. DO NOT GO TO A SHOP.
O2 Will SCAM YOU.

Hi Fair Deal,

thank you for your review here on Trustpilot. That reads anything but nice. In this case, it is correct that a 14-day withdrawal period only applies to contracts concluded online or by telephone. If you conclude a contract in an o2 store, the withdrawal period does not apply because you sign the contract directly on site. Of course, it's not nice that you weren't informed about this. That's how it should be, of course.
If you like, please contact us via FB Messenger or the o2 Community. We'll be happy to look into it and help where we can.

I am an honest guy and here is what they did to me

I am an honest guy and everything I say here is pure reality:
Notably I say here that this company was the worse company I have seen in my 40 years of life. It is just horrible and honestly I feel I have been robbed out of my money and I have been scammed for a service which didn’t exist.
I am astounded how a company like this can be allowed to operate in Germany and who is going to help me and here is the true story:
Around 12 months ago I decided to use their “O2 Home S 50 Flex” with a 1 month termination notice period. The service had an advertised download speed of 50 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps.
For the first 8 months, the service worked as it should. I had a download speed of 50 Mbps and upload speed of 9.5 Mbps on average which was very satisfactory to me.
During this time though based on the ads I would see around me, I noticed O2 is aggressively selling cheap internet to users in my area in various ways such as by leasing their network to third party companies where they even offered the same service (but with data volume cap) at even lower prices. I live in the heart of a big and famous city in Germany (with around 600,000 population).
Then around 4 months ago, I experienced bad internet connection apparently due to massive overload on O2 network in my area at peak hours from 16:00 until 00:00 on workdays and almost on all hours on weekends.
But the extent of the problem was very very severe: My download speed had decreased to astounding rates of only 500 Kbps (sometimes it would go up to 1.5 Mbps to 2.0 Mbps). Sometimes I had no internet connection but when I had internet connection, I couldn’t even open a simple website. It was so bad…
After 2 weeks like this, I contacted them for the first time and they marked my report and assigned a report No. via SMS. However after 1 week nothing changed and I didn’t hear back from them after that.
A few weeks later and I still have the same issue. Basically I cannot use internet at all and at this stage I am relying on my Telekom mobile phone contract which works as always top class and with a lightning speed for my daily internet usage.
Quickly 3 months passed and nothing changed. I contacted them and told them I planned to use their service for a longtime but this is horrible. I applied for an Entschädigung (which they have to consider based on German law) and told them since they have not offered any service to me in the last 3 months they have to refund my money back during this period. I also applied for an immediate termination and Kündigung.
But the guy in their Kündigung department very aggressively told me it can’t be done and I still have to pay for one more month for nothing until the regular termination of my contract. This was despite that they knew I have no service at such and that I am not able to use their nonexistence service and yet they told me they will keep me on it for another full month which of course I also should pay and that is exactly what happened at the end.
In short, I paid for the last 4 months but received no such service. I was finically stolen from my money for nothing.
And what happened to my Entschädigung contract?!
Nothing! It is more than a month since I applied for it and still I have not heard anything from them. But the guy whom I talked to in the Kündigung department was like: you have already terminated, so why you expect Entschädigung?! even though he told me they will investigate it and “in an unforeseeable time in the distance future they may contact me if they have recognized I am eligible for a refund” even though I sent them so many proof of speed measurement from their own Mein O2 app as well as screenshots…
I don’t know what loophole in the Entschädigung law exist in Germany which they plan to use but that I still have to wait to see.
In short as Germans says: “Finger weg”!
Only use Telecom… a good company is one which is always good not one which is randomly good and when it is bad, you can’t do anything about it anymore and treat you like how they treated me as I described above.

Genuinely, and i'm not exaggerating when i say this, one of the worst companies i've ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

I would give it 0 stars if i could, but the lowest you could go is 1.

I feel bad for saying this as well because it's not the fault of the employees that the company is extremely lackluster, and it's not their fault that the company has one of the worst coverage i've ever seen in my life, but it's also not fair of O2 to sell you a contract, where they expect you to hold up on your end of the bargain, but they won't do the same.

I've been having issues with my data, it randomly stops working for several days (can you imagine paying for a service that you don't get, but if you are late to a payment or want to get out of 2 year contract then suddenly they remember that there's a product they are providing you) for the past year 7 months, and i have called, they have submitted tickets and nothing, literally nothing, has been done about it. They don't even acknowledge that it has been going on for several months now, and instead offer the same solutions that don't work every. single. time.

Also, this isn't too terrible to deal with because again, it's just employees doing their jobs, but everytime you call they will somehow try to sell you a service or persuade you into getting something.

It's just frustrating unfortunately because the prices are good, and if they provided what they state they provide, it would be one of the best telecommunications company around... but nope. Maybe one day it will get better.

Worst internet provider ever…if rating…

Worst internet provider ever…if rating with 0 (or negative) would be possible, I would probably rate it with -100. Living on a 5th floor (penthouse apartment), the SIM cube is positioned right next to the large curtain wall window, and the signal/ping is at its all-time low…surfing the net is just possible thanks to Vodafone cellular hot spots and friendly neighbors…Trying to watch a 90 min movie on Netflix turns into a 900-minute lagging agony. Monthly costs (for the worst service (can’t even use the word service cause it would actually imply that you‘re getting something in return for the money you’re paying) ever) are normally and regularly billed. Support does not exist - O2 actually proposes that you pay extra for some BS technician to come around and basically tell you that you've done everything right with the installation and he can't do anything to improve the quality (we can't talk about quality and O2 in the same context) of the signal.

Congratulations O2, you've managed to redefine incompetence/fraud and rig off in the internet service industry. If you're looking for frustration, disappointment, and a bottomless pit of despair, O2 is the perfect choice for you.
Basically a rip off, don‘t buy/subscribe no matter how desperate you are…believe me, it better to be without internet than to even consider closing a contract with O2…

Do not become o2 client

Do not become o2 client! We signed a mobile contract in the shop 7 days ago (first mistake, if you have to do it then do it online as you have 14 days cancellation in case of problems while in the shop there is no cancellation possible). Shop assistant (and O2 online webpage checking coverage in our area) said there was 4g and 5g reception also inside buildings where we live and not to worry about it. Activated the SIM cards and our phone is now useless at home. Customer Service at the telephone says we have to solve it with the shop as we signed there, shop assistant says they can't help us and we need to call customer service. They all tell us that O2 "is not liable for absence or internet and phone service in the area someone is living" even if before signing the contract they confirmed they had perfect coverage and the contract can be now cancelled only in 2026. They now told us that someone from the technical department is checking if there are problems with the service in our area, first contact they said it looks like there are no problems and they will contact us back in 24 hours. They say there are no issues but our phones are still without internet and can't have a decent phone call. Horrible service that I have to pay now for two years even if it doesn't work, horrible customer service that refuse to help you, just states what's written in the contract. If you're with Telekom do not leave, O2 offers what they look like price worthy packages but quality is not even decent and support inexistent. Never again.

Never sign a contract in Shop

I subscribed to a package Mobile M Boost 50gb + Samsung S22 last september in a physical shop.
The total price was 37,99€ per month.
Since i needed each month more data i asked them to upgrade and they denied it for the first 6 months.
I systematically bought extra data volumes t'il I could upgrade.
Once the 6 month have passed and after a deep research of the different offers online i went again in the shop and asked for the Pack O2 XL that costs 59,98.
Instead of giving me the offer that is available online, they allowed themselves to simply take out of the contract my 2 years reduction that was offered for the phone purchase.
I called o2 helpline and they admit that its not advised to make contracts in the shops. Everyone knows but newcommers. One advise never trust the shop sellers. they simply look for any way to make money on behalf of their clients.
And to be honest i feel a lot of discriminatory behaviour from some of these sellers.
Avoid at all cost to sign any contract in the shops of o2.

Stay away from them

As one person already said in his comment, unfortunately we have can only give them one star but they don't deserve even that one.
Moved to Germany couple months ago and signed a contract with these guys. Asked a guy in their store about their terms and he told me that he first needs to see my documents. After he looked at them he told me they can offer me ****. I said i will think about it. That happened on Monday. Came back on Friday and signed a contract. After i signed it he told me that they have an issue and he can't activate my second SIM card. I asked him what second SIM card ??? I don't want a second card. He said, i will be a lot cheaper for you this way, trust me. This is a family package. I don't have a family i don't need a second SIM, and how are they going to activate it if it's just me on the contract. He said, don't worry, just come back in two week and they will approve it. I said, what if they don't approve it? To which he just replied with "i honestly don't know. Just come back in two weeks and then we will see, and we will get you your Ipad. "What fu***g ipad, who mentioned an ipad 🙄".
He then tells me that i have to pay an activation fee of 40€. I said okay, no problem, take it from my account. He told me he can't do that and that i have to pay in cash. I gave him the money and asked for a receipt to which he started laughing and asked me "you need it? You don't trust us". I don't know why but i said i don't need it, it's all good. Two weeks latter, i see a charge on my bank account, 40€ acctivation fee. I tried calling their customer support, only to realize that no one speaks english all of a sudden. I sent them an email and they told me that they never take cash and asked me for a receipt to prove that i paid those 40€ to that a**hole in their sh**ty store. Plus, they told me i signed a contract with them on monday which i didn't do. This guy entered it on the day i went there just to see that they have to offer.
I can't believe how they even operate still because this is literally a scam company. Signal is terrible, even in big cities. If you think you'll be okay because you live in a big place, trust me, you will either way have problems with signal.
Customer service terrible
Internet terrible
Prices terrible
Responsiveness terrible

To conclude, stay away from them. Can't believe no one sued and closed them already. They are literally braking every law possible here and somehow getting away with it.

Edit 16.04.2024

Dear Michael,

I appreciate your reply. Regretfully, there is nothing you can do to change how incredibly horrific o2 is. All I want is to warn others so they don't make the same mistake I did. That is what reviews are for. Although the marketing you guys invest in can occasionally trick people, with the help of these reviews, we can try to at least inform people about what they are getting into and try to stop them from making the same mistakes that I and, obviously many other people here have made.Since my review was already lengthy, I didn't include the fact that, two weeks later, I returned to the store to cancel my contract, which I wasn't able to do unfortunately and a different guy offered me a phone through o2. Given that I have already committed to two years with you guys, I told him that I would be interested in that. I needed a new phone for work either way. When he noticed that that I had only signed a contract two weeks earlier, he apologized and advised me to return after my first month ends because you would probably deny my request because I am a new customer. However, when I returned to the store a month later, that same men informed me that you guys don't sell phone in your store and that I will have to order it online. I submitted an order, it was accepted and the phone was sent to me. I received an email on Friday that same week, informing me that delivery failed and that the phone contract was canceled.
I worked from home that Friday but still, I would have accepted the responsibility for not hearing the bell if my entrance had not been equipped with cameras, which I checked and saw that no courier came that day. However, that is not your fault. DHL or whoever you guys use to ship packages is to blame.
Since your colleague just hung up the phone when I called customer service and started speaking English, I had a colleague of mine call you guys to see if I could order the phone online and pick it up at the store, but you guys said "NO".Alright, that policy is illogical but rules are rules, I won't comment them. I therefore placed a second order online, but this time, my order was denied. Hahaha
Ten days earlier you approved it and now you choose not to. And nothing change in the meantime. In addition to having my own business, I make a respectable living as an accountant in a tax office here and I believe I can afford a bloody phone.
That said, to wrap up
Coverage 0
Service 0
Price to quality 0

Stay away
