I had a very smooth experience with Peter. The survey was in depth and Peter was available to answer all my questions after I received it. I highly recommend him if you're looking for a knowledgeable and thorough surveyor at a reasonable price!

We had great down to earth communication with the Peter from the start. Everything went very smoothly and we felt confident that OBSURV was the right company to go with. Everything went very well and the cost and time offered were by far the best options we had from shopping around with other surveyors. The after survey care was also very reassuring and honestly and kindly conveyed.

I used Peter to do a survey on a property I'm buying, was a very quick turn around and unlike any survey I've done before he offered a 360 virtual survey, which I found so much better than surveys I've done in the past! Well worth the extra money!! It's also nice to have someone go through everything with you and offer advice on how to approach the agent/tradesman. Would highly recommend!!

OBSURV carried out a comprehensive Level 3 building survey on a property that I was planning on purchasing, at my request.

The property required upgrading however there were some tell tale signs of more serious issues that were not evident at the first viewing and had seemingly worsened over a period of a few weeks. As the vendor had limited information about the property it was decided to instruct a surveyor.

Contact was made over the Christmas period and they made arrangements as soon as the New Year started.

The detailed survey was carried out and a full comprehensive report was provided within a week.

Not only did this pin point the sources of the issues it gave follow up information on who to contact to remedy.

Most importantly, on just the weight of the report it managed to negotiate 10% off the purchase price. Therefore the report paid for itself 25x over.

Priceless and will definitely use the company again in the future. Highly recommended.

First class experience from the start , concluding with a very detailed survey, to the point that I pulled out of purchasing the property due to the thorough detail of the report. I have subsequently found the property that I am very happy with and I had no hesitation in utilising their services again.

The service provided by Peter Williams of Obsurv Building Surveyors was very professional and I would highly recommend him. Peter was able to do the survey and report very quickly giving very clear recommended actions to solve the problem, saving what might have been totally unnecessary expenditure.
We had a problem of water staining on the landing/ceiling on the party wall of our 2 storey terraced house in Newport. The neighbour's chimney had been leaking but she believed this had been fixed. However, once the rains came after a very dry summer, the staining had reappeared. A different roofer had suggested the only sure solution was to take the chimney down and replace the whole roof!
However, the neighbour and I jointly decided that a professional opinion was required to ensure the problem was solved once and for all but without unnecessary expenditure. After a very through external examination by drone and an internal examination of the roof spaces of both houses, Peter idenitified the root causes of the problem. Some better lead flashing around the chimney and improved ventilation to both the chimney and roof spaces is needed rather a a new roof, thus saving thousands of pounds in what would have been unnecessary expenditure!

Peter was great. Excellent with the vendors. His use of the drone was incredible and we could see the roof and gutters very easily and all in good order. My only comment is Peter could not be more professional and I would recommend Peter and his company any day!!!!

Peter was extremely accommodating from start to finish and really took the time to ensure we understood the results of the survey.

We've used Obsurv three separate times now (as we've had several properties fall through when purchasing) and each time has been absolutely fantastic.

The first property fell through after we'd paid for the survey but it had not yet been carried out. Peter refunded us within the hour.

The second survey we had done was extensive and provided us with a ton of information that the sellers weren't even aware of. When I had questions after the survey was sent to us Peter was more than happy to help and offer advice.

The third survey we've just had done and again, the standard and quality is impeccable. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a survey.

A more personal experience being local kept up-to-date on the progress of the survey. the survey report was very detailed and explicit covering everything at the property we are proposing to purchase giving absolute reassurance and delivered well within the timescale. Would Highly recommended

I found Obsurv on a comparison website and liked the fact that the company was local and had good feedback. The service was delivered within the noted timescales although Peter did note that he may be able to bring forward the survey if there were any cancellations. I wasn't in a hurry so the survey went ahead as planned as was followed with a comprehensive and well explained report. I also called Peter a couple of weeks later to clarify a few points and although I was a little late with my follow up he was very helpful and answered all my questions. I would highly recommend!

Peter Williams OBSURV survey reports have been brilliantly informative and immensely helpful for me. I’ve found them comprehensive to read and contain all the information I’ve needed to help me make an informed decision on the all different aspects of the property, inside, external and other related matters. My main concerns were about the property’s general maintenance state and condition including structural or other defects. It’s helpful that he rates these in level of seriousness and offers approaches on how to address them with action needed. He also includes photos as evidence and an optional drone photo of the roof. His surveys have proven invaluable to me in making a decision to purchase a buy to let on behalf of my dad and for myself as my own knowledge and experience in this area is limited. Subsequently his reports have also been useful in knowing which problems to address in renovating these properties.
Initially, I fell in love with two older properties that I put offers on I then realised, on receiving Peter’s reports, that they had complex structural problems that I couldn’t have foreseen, requiring work, time and expenditure beyond my means. On that basis I pulled out of them both. I think I’d be broken and bankrupt now if I’d taken them on. As a result, I decided I’d be better suited to go for local and more modern properties and my dad and me have been delighted with the two we went on to purchase, one which is a happy home for a dad and his two young daughters and the other I’m still furnishing to set up as a lovely holiday let.
I’ve realised from my own experience that it’s a false economy to skip having a survey. I’ve since heard stories of friends who skipped the survey only to discover unforeseen defects that in the long term have had astronomically costs and taken their toll on them. Or others who had Surveyors lacking in expertise to spot the defects resulting in similar problems. More than six months down the line I can vouch that Peter’s meticulous attention to detail married to his wealth of experience and expertise have proven sound, correct and trustworthy. The conveyancing solicitor also commented on the quality of his survey reports. I feel very grateful to him, as not only has his information helped me to buy two decent and profitable properties, but he’s also saved me from heartbreak and potential wrack and ruin from buying properties that I could ill afford to purchase and thankfully armed me instead with the information I needed to make wiser decisions on my own and my dad’s behalf.

Cannot recommend Pete enough. A quicker turnaround than I’d have ever expected. His speed does not take away from the quality, the final report was incredibly detailed. Exceeded all expectations, I have shown the report findings to family friends who are also amazed by how detailed and knowledgeable Pete/the report is. He also scheduled a call to go through details in the report and allow for further question and explanation which was very helpful indeed.
