Great Sound Quality, But Disappointing Customer Service and Refund Experience
I recently purchased two packages from Ocular Sounds: Shift (Slow Motion SFX) and Swell (Cinematic Waves SFX). The audio quality itself is genuinely impressive—clean, high-resolution (96kHz/24-bit), and professionally mastered. The sounds are well-crafted and would suit many cinematic or video editing projects.
However, after testing them in my specific edits, I found they didn’t fit the creative direction I was going for. They weren’t what I expected based on the descriptions and previews, so they didn’t fulfill the promise I thought they would for my workflow. They’re not bad products at all—just not the right match for my needs.
Given their advertised 14-day money-back guarantee, I reached out to request a refund shortly after purchase.
Unfortunately, the experience has been frustrating:
• Their site promises a 7-days-a-week support team ready to help with anything, but communication has been very poor and feels mostly automated/robotic.
• Instead of sending the promised refund form or questionnaire after my initial message, I was directed to a review site to rate their service.
• After that, there’s been little to no follow-up or human interaction—just silence.
• I’ve been trying to get this resolved since Monday, with no meaningful progress.
To Thom, Dave, and team, I’ve been trying to request a refund since Monday. I don’t know if you guys are purposefully delaying so that the 14 days run through, or just don’t focus on what your customer is trying to get assistance with, but I would appreciate to get a refund in order to repurpose the funds elsewhere. Don’t ignore me.
The sounds are high-quality and royalty-free, which is great, but strong audio alone isn’t enough when customer service falls short—especially on something as straightforward as honoring a money-back guarantee. I stand by my request for a full refund because these packs simply aren’t a fit for the direction I’m heading with my projects.
If you’re considering a purchase, the products themselves seem solid for the right use case, but be aware of potential hurdles if you ever need support or a refund.
I’d rate the product quality highly but the overall experience (especially support) much lower.
‼️ UPDATE:
Just wanted to let readers know that the issue has been resolved. Turns out their earlier response emails had landed in my junk/spam folder (my bad for not checking thoroughly). Once I reached out again and they followed up, they processed the full refund promptly without requiring the questionnaire—funds are on the way.
Communication got restored quickly after that, and they handled it professionally. The sounds remain high-quality (just not the right fit for my slower-paced style), but credit where it’s due: they honored the 14-day guarantee once the mix-up was cleared.
If you’re having similar issues, double-check your spam folder! Overall experience improved from frustrating to positive resolution.

I've used other services for music and sound fx and they are ok, but what makes Ocular different is the quality and artistry of their music and sound fx, besides its quality it seems like well thought sounds and instruments playing at the right moment creatively, I mean their products are not like just music fillers they are truly beautiful

I'm a big fan of the Ocular Sounds sound library. I’ve already created some wonderful moments with it, in my film&TV-work. It is very enjoyable to puzzle with these rich, high-quality collections of solid sound effects. And the price-quality ratio is incredible. I mean that.
Not unimportantly: the guys at Ocular Sounds themselves are fantastic. I don't use this word lightly. They respond very quickly to questions or suggestions.
