I found a job vacancy on OLX that I believe was 99.99% fake. I am sharing my experience so that nobody else falls victim to this kind of scam.

I saw a job advertisement on OLX and sent them a message. They gave me a phone number and asked me to share my biodata. Later, I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the head office in Nagaon.

They took money from me three times:

First payment: ₹500
Second payment: ₹1,000
Third payment: ₹10,000

I even left my previous job because they spoke so convincingly and made me believe that I would definitely get this new job. They sent me fake offer and appointment letters, which made me trust them and believe that my job was confirmed.

However, after taking the money, they stopped contacting me. I received no further calls, emails, or updates. Whenever I tried to call them, they would disconnect my calls.

Later, I verified the details and discovered that the offer letter and appointment letter they had given me were fake.

If anyone needs proof, I am ready to share all the available evidence, including the phone numbers of the people involved, the payment details, and the QR codes or scanner details I used to transfer the money. I can also share the fake offer letter and appointment letter so that others can verify the truth for themselves.

I even suspect that OLX may not be doing enough to prevent such fraudulent job advertisements from appearing on its platform. However, I do not have proof that OLX is directly involved.

My sincere request to everyone is to be very careful when applying for jobs on OLX. Based on my personal experience, I believe many job advertisements there may be fake. Please verify every job offer properly and never pay money without confirming that the employer is genuine.

Please share this post to make others aware of this scam and help prevent more innocent people from losing their hard-earned money. I do not want anyone else to go through what I experienced.

Olx making us fool. They are now demanding money for simple chat and Offer avoid Olx follow facebook marketplace.

No response at all. even if we pay more and take premium salling option, you will get response which are like bot generated. if you call them back no response. If you whatsapp then they dont even read it. This is a fraud site.

Very much disappointing, olx India ?? Is this how you do business? Why was my add removed for no absolute reason? I haven’t sold any of my products yet let it stay atleast for 24 hrs… damnnn this is completely unreasonable n you asking me to pay to post another add so that you can take my money and remove my add again??????

I have spend almost 3-4k to look for house maid but I couldn’t find a single one . There is no customer service which is provided by the OLX . Just pay the money and forget abt it.
Second incident , not knowing the how aptly to post d ad on OLX which in result the Olx exhausted my Rs. 499 within 24 hrs and asking me to purchase the service again . So, keeping in mind there is no scope of error in Olx app or else you will loose out your money .
Shameful and disgusting.

Totally scan and totally fraud. I took a 1 month package and it was cancelled within 7 days saying it was wrong.

I have paid 370 for my ad and the validity was 30 days. They have rejected ad in 1 day stating ad category was incorrect. If ad category was incorrect then it could have been corrected by the team. I asked for the refund and they are denying to give the refund and also denied to correct ad category.they are just looting the customers unnecessary.

Today we were victims of a cybercrime. We are from Bengaluru.

Yesterday (16th April 2026), I posted an ad on OLX to sell a diwan cot for ₹2,500 and uploaded a few pictures. The next morning, I received a call from the number 8273469282. The person negotiated the price to ₹2,300 and said he would pay online, while his person would come to collect the diwan cot.

He asked for a WhatsApp number, and I shared my husband’s number. My husband also shared our location. Later, the person said he would send ₹2 first to check the transaction. We received the ₹2.

After that, he said he would transfer ₹2,000 now and the remaining ₹300 would be paid by the person collecting the item. He then sent a ₹2,000 payment request and asked my husband to enter the PIN, claiming that this is how OLX transactions work and that he would also enter a PIN from his side.

As soon as my husband entered the PIN, ₹2,000 was deducted from our account. When my husband questioned him, the person tried to manipulate us further by saying he would return ₹2,000, add another ₹2,000, and include an OLX “merchant fee” of ₹2,000. We started receiving messages saying receive money, but in reality, no money was received. Instead, a total of ₹6,000 was deducted from our account. We lost a total of ₹8,000 in this scam.

This is a complete scam. These people are cheating innocent users. Please be very careful.

The person’s name was displayed as “Ashok Kumar” on the OLX app.

They are cheating innocent people—God should punish them...

We have received two different transaction messages. I am attaching screenshots for your reference.

Olx is a complete scam.
For 1 ad they charged 500, its been a week and till now I didbt even get a single msg from buyers.
Sometimes olx chat with sellers who paid to ensure sellers won't think that they didnt get any response.
Complete cheating, fraud, money laundering , scam.

Do not pay even 1 rupee for olx ad, even free ads are useless.
Olx itself is full of scam, cheating and money laundering.

Terrible. I got no genuine buyers, only Scamster’s who were only interested in my number, not the product. So that they can fleece me of some money!

I posted an ad on OLX and paid extra to make it a premium listing. I was promised that I would receive around 50 replies per day, but that never happened. I didn’t even receive close to that number.

This feels very misleading and disappointing. I spent money expecting better visibility and genuine responses, but the results were nowhere near what was advertised. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this service.

wait 60 days to post an add...when add expires again wait for 60 days to post d same add..or pay..not at all seller friendly.

I have good experience with OLX. Many time I have sales different used items,last time I have sale a watch. Easly I got buyer on olx .recently I have sale a wagonr car on olx. You can get buyer in two or three dayes. I think that if you want to sale any used items then you have to listed your product on olx.

The worst platform. Suspended my account after hacker hacked my account, instead of resolving my grievance. Very stupid of OLX in handling issues.
I wish they resolve issues.

Very poor application and process, promote spam so be careful using your primary mobile number for registration. Since I used my phone started getting spam calls.
