I bought a round the world ticket on oneworld.com the one world official website. fairly easy to book - you get a confirmation email. then for some bizarre reason you have to call Cathay to pay for it. Thats where the disaster begins - apparently there is a 'special department' who deal with it. I have made 6 calls over 2 days lasting over 1 hour in total, so far to Cathay. Zero progress. I just want to give you my money. There is no way to contact oneworld. Pretty unbelievable. Update: Emily saved the day at Cathay and got it sorted. Such a painful experience.
after these reviews there is no way we will be useing OneWorld, Had a bad experence with Star Alliance\ Air Canada check in
I have been scammed by a travel agency called onewrld.com or one world Alliance their address is 86-90 Paul Street EC2A 4NE London with the telephone number of 020-30386273 .
I have reported them to Action fraud agency and scam interceptors.
They are still operating under the same name and telephone number.
they all have Indian Accents .
Be Aware of these SCAMMERS.
Wow! One world ruby and now sapphire but British airways still gave me an involuntary downgrade from my paid upgrade seat, could not check in online and could not issue boarding pass at airport because, I find out at security (I get flagged that I need assistance so could not print pass) they sold my seat and downgraded me to a middle seat in economy. They apologized and said this is customary practice and happens regularly!!! One world has poor options if you are flying to Europe.
Tried using the Oneworld website to book a round the world trip. Absolutely awful experience. They cannot find options to complete the trip despite oneworld partners having flights available. Have tried finding contact details for the oneworld customer service - not to be found anywhere, I was going to book business class for two across the world, so a lot of money, but looks like I may need to go with star alliance instead.
Every time I fly with one world I find it is impossible to get a seat allocated to me prior to checking in on the day , where the only seats left on the airplane are beside the toilets.
This experiences occurred on more than 10 occasions.
I have complained to various airlines about this as when I’m at check-in and the plane is relatively full, there is just no way to get a seat anywhere that’s reasonable even though I booked the airline ticket up to 12 months ago.
I find that I cannot even purchase tickets with an allocated seat at additional cost, Once you’re with that one world system.
As Platinum Member of Sri Lankan Airlines I wanted to use my FlySmiles for a flight from London to Banjul with Royal Air Maroc, a member of One World Alliance, as is Sri Lankan Airlines.
I contacted Sri Lankan Airlines who told me they didn't fly to Banjul. I advised them that Royal Air Maroc did and they were part of the "so called" One World Alliance. After over 4 hours of phone calls I was advised they could not do it as they did not have access to Royal Air Maroc "Redemption Availability" I have to add they were also very unhelpful.
I wanted to use my miles, in excess of 160,000 to visit children I sponsor in Africa. This saving would have enabled me to buy them things they need. Alas, the One World Alliance appears to be nothing more than a marketing tool. It is very misleading, unhelpful and certainly NOT what it claims to be.
Reading the reviews, it appears, many are of the same view.
I flew SriLankan Airlines, a member of OneWorld, on two occasions (1) from DEL to CMB on 18 Apr 2024 (2) CMB to DEL on 17 May 2024. I wanted to claim airline mileage with my OneWorld frequent flyer program which is American Airlines´ AAdvanatage. I submitted flight details and boarding passes to AAdvantage but website does not recognize the flights and sent me to SriLankan Airlines. I approached two SriLankan Airlines representatives at the airport. The first was outright unhelpful and disrespectful and the second gave me SriLankan Airlines’ email address for customer assistance. I corresponded via email but after several back-and-forths, the issue remains unresolved.
As of 06Jul2024, air miles were credited - thanks to American Airlines´ AAdvantage.
Utter rubbish and it can't work out east from west. Tried booking a round the world trip from Australia, to Europe, then Miami and then back to Melbourne. Constantly got an error saying I needed to travel east or west and had to cross each ocean only once. This trip ticked all those boxed but the computer said no. Utter waste of time.
Sri Lankan Airlines are a disgrace to the OneWorld brand. We treated ourselves and flew to Colombo in Business. What a disappointment. Elderly cabin, the worst selection of aged films ever, and economy food served in business. As far as I could see, they just take the silver foil off and call it business class (so that it goes cold whilst you are eating a measly starter).
I have a BA gold card, yet was refused access to the first class lounge, a violation of OneWorld policy. In the business lounge, the hot buffet choices were all stone cold, and the staff only found out when I told them.
What a waste of our savings - no treat at all. I emailed both OneWorld and Sri Lankan airlines, but neither have bothered to respond. AVOID!
PS with 100% 1 star reviews, how can the overall rating be 2.3 stars???
This alliance is literally the worst. It has the worst US carrier (American) and the European airlines (BA, Iberia and Finnair) also suck. Also having the least number of airlines and the least mile coverage doesn’t help it either. Better chosse Delta’s skyteam which is a much better option.
OneWorld leaves passengers stranded, doesn’t reply to the airline’s email for over 2 weeks!!
You don’t care, do you OneWorld!?
I ended up booking with a more responsive alliance….
Completely useless alliance that includes the worst airline known to man, royal air moroc. They offer no support when their alliance members take customers money and don't resolve simple compensation issues within 6 months. Don't trust them!
Oneworld can’t even keep a website up to date. It leaves you running around Airport Lounges to be told they are not Oneworld affiliated anymore. Fail. Fail. Fail. Total waste of time.
Useless.
I have tried booking round the world flights with this company several times, they claim that their 'member airlines work together to deliver consistently a superior, seamless travel experience'.
Pity then that they don't, won't or can't.
You have to play a guessing game on when flights may or may not be available, pick a date, any date and they might or might not have a flight available but all dates I've tried from Manila to Singapore just say 'no flights available on that day' - SO WHY NOT TELL ME WHEN THERE ARE FLIGHTS AVAILABLE? ISN'T THAT WHAT SUCH SITES ARE SUPPOSED TO DO - BE HELPFUL?
Totally impossible to contact, no email, no chat, no phone. Looks suspiciously like a scam outfit.
