Ever since aha! was bought and merged with Onlia under the investment company everything is now awful. Customer service is very unresponsive and when they do answer it's very basic and not user specific based on the situation. If I didn't get a discount from my company I would not choose them again.

It literally took a month and a half of me emailing and calling these guys to try and switch my insurance over to a different province.
And because it took so long, I found a different insurance company that was willing to give me a much better price, I spent another month+ emailing and calling them asking for a letter of experience so that I could switch companies.
The worst part about that is that they waited until a few days after my insurance bill was paid to finally send the letter, and not only would they not refund me for this month, they tacked on an extra cancellation fee for me.
The only positive thing I can say is that they were polite in the exchanges I had with them. But if you value your time and don't want to have to sit there for hours on a phone calling over and over, or emailing over and over, do yourself a favour and find a different company.

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I’ve received regarding my recent home insurance claim.
A claim was opened for sudden water damage and leakage from two toilets in my home. During our initial conversation, the assigned adjuster, Chris Buchanan, clearly informed me that this issue would be covered under my water damage and leakage policy. He then sent a third-party inspector to assess the situation, who confirmed that there would be two separate claims. Later, Mr. Buchanan and the inspector returned together and repeated that two claims would be processed.
At that time, Mr. Buchanan also asked whether a home inspection had been completed before I moved into the property two and a half years ago. I promptly shared the inspection report, which clearly stated that there were no major issues and that both toilets were dry at the time.
Despite this, I was surprised to receive a denial notice the following day, stating that the damage was considered an ongoing issue — directly contradicting the inspection report and Mr. Buchanan’s initial statement that the claim would be covered. I disagreed with this decision and requested the name of his supervisor for escalation, but I have yet to receive a response.
Given this experience, I am requesting that my claim and the handling of this matter be escalated to your management team for review. As a loyal customer of over two and a half years, I am extremely disappointed by the lack of transparency, inconsistent communication, and overall service I have received.
Please be aware that due to this experience, I am now actively exploring alternative options for both my home and auto insurance policies.
Sincerely,
I Ahmed

Onlia flagged my original review and had it removed because they pay Trust pilot to filter reviews.
Everything I wrote was fact.
I changed my address with Onlia and they increased my insurance by $150 per month. I canceled the policy, but not without costing me an additional $300. With an insurance company, you have no choice but to pay.
Also, dealing with the customer service representative “broker” that complained on the phone that he’s making no money from my policy and then proceeded to end the conversation by stopping the recording and using obscenities.
This is how they treat a customer that had a policy with them since 2021.
Do not recommend. Use a reputable company that won’t take advantage of their ability to access your bank account.
