I have used Open Fix on several…

I have used Open Fix on several occasions now, as I’ve had a few different issues with my boiler over the past few month's. Each time they’ve come out quickly to sort the problem, and every single engineer has been absolutely brilliant — always pleasant, polite, and explained exactly what was wrong and what they were doing to fix it. Nothing has ever been too much trouble, and every repair has been done to a really high standard first time round. It’s such a relief to find a company you can actually rely on. I would highly recommend Open Fix to anyone!

The Engineer arrived to service my Boiler

The Engineer arrived to service my boiler in the loft, and then refused to go up there, telling me it was dangerous. The Loft is well boarded and lit.

The Boiler has been serviced in that house for over 13 years by various engineers.

Openfix will not service boilers if they are in the loft, but they don't inform you until they arrive.

Be aware of that snippet of information. It's in the T&C's but they were most unhelpful when trying to sort it out. They quoted the T&C's at me.

I would not recommend them

Having investigated the details provided, we have been unable to locate any record of a boiler service or gas safety inspection being attended at your property by an OpenFix engineer. Our records show that your landlord plan commenced on 26 May, and no boiler service appointment has been carried out since joining.

We would also like to clarify that OpenFix does not operate a policy of refusing to service boilers simply because they are located in a loft. Our engineers regularly carry out boiler services and inspections on loft-installed boilers where suitable and safe access is available.

We would welcome the opportunity to investigate this further, as it is possible there may have been a misunderstanding or confusion with another provider. Please contact our customer support team directly with any additional details and we will be happy to review this with you.

Rip off cancellation policy

Rip off cancellation policy
OF claim they can't cancel a policy ,until cancellation charges are paid, despite making clear i want to cancel the policies, bad advising them that the DD had been cancelled.
Please stay away from this company, gp with a reputable more recognised name

Good Service

Been with openfix for a few years after 30 years with BG ! Apart from having to “ remind “ them about my annual service , no problems. Had a breakdown over winter it was fixed promptly.

Really poor communication

Really poor communication. The boiler and gas safety certificate are due for renewal on my rental property and I requested that the allocated engineer contact the tenant directly to arrange this, for the tenants convenience. I accept that they could not make contact with the tenant which turned out to be because they were out of the country however, none of my emails to the company were responded to and none of the emails to the engineers company were responded to either. My tenant upon returning home called the engineers company and was told she could not arrange the service without my permission!! Given I had already done this, it was frustrating for both me and the tenant. This was the first time I have had any need to communicate with openfix since taking out the policy but needless to say I am not impressed with the poor communication and customer service thus far. I can only hope it gets better!

We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience.

Having reviewed the history of your case, your Gas Safety Certificate was due to expire on 24 June and we arranged for a local engineer to begin contacting your tenant on 26 May, almost a month in advance of the renewal date.

On 28 May, the engineer advised us that they had made multiple attempts to contact both your tenant and yourself without success. As a result, the job was temporarily returned to us pending further contact. We subsequently updated you by email and asked that you get back in touch once contact could be established.

Following your email on 1 June, you advised us that your tenant had been out of the country and unavailable. As soon as we became aware of this, we contacted your tenant directly, arranged a three-way conversation with the engineer, and secured an appointment for 12 June. We then confirmed the booking to you by email.

We appreciate that the situation was frustrating for both you and your tenant. However, we do feel it is important to clarify that the engineer had made several attempts to make contact well in advance of the renewal date and that, once we were made aware of the circumstances, the appointment was arranged promptly with plenty of time remaining before the certificate expiry.

We always aim to work closely with both landlords and tenants to ensure annual inspections are completed smoothly and on time, and we're pleased that the appointment was successfully secured for 12 June.
