Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 161 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Customers frequently praise the staff for being friendly, helpful, and providing excellent customer service, often going above and beyond to assist with frame selection, eye tests, and adjustments. Many appreciate the value for money, the quality of the products, and the thoroughness of the eye exams. However, some people were dissatisfied with inconsistent service, reporting issues with unhelpful or rude staff, particularly when problems arose with glasses or prescriptions. There are also mentions of concerns regarding the quality of frames, with some experiencing breakages or ill-fitting glasses, and a few customers felt their concerns were dismissed or that the prescription provided was inaccurate.

Poor service but it’s not the branches fault.

In recent years have always had exceptional service at Asda Opticians in Bolton but this year it’s very sub standard.
Apart from one member of the staff the team are still very friendly and as helpful as they can be.
I’m thinking my poor experience is nothing to do with the store staff and more to do with management and head office.
Firstly the branch has lots of A4 page notes up saying that it’s appointments for everything.
If you want an eye test, order your glasses and collect them. I asked about this and the branch has staffing issues it seems.
However unfortunately that’s not the customers fault. I get you need an appointment to have an eye test but you don’t need one or should not be expected to make an appointment to choose your new frames or collect your new glasses.
I also tried ringing the branch on a couple of occasions to check if my new glasses had arrived as no text received and it was now two weeks. The phone went unanswered on both occasions so calling to make the appointment for everything isn’t going to work if the phone goes unanswered. The staff maybe very busy which is a valid excuse so not blaming the staff for that. I called the customer service team at Asda Opticians and they are as much use as a chocolate fire guard. I’m surprised in this day of Integrated IT and AI they could not see my branch order stating they don’t have that level of order tracking.
On this occasion I decided to divert my journey to the store and the staff are helpful and checked the order. It seems the supplier has discontinued my choice of frames but failed to let the branch know. As of today it’s three weeks since I ordered two pairs. One set is back ( my sunglasses) but the main pair is still on order.
I do think that a lot of the problems are head office driven. Asda is going downhill since it was sold to Mosshin brothers and head count at head office has been cut. This is putting pressure on the branches. This may be my last time at Asda Opticians because of this experience.

Excellent service

Leyton Asda - optician so thorough during eye test - so much better than my high street optician., very professional. Two pairs of glasses with and eye exam £170, and a lovely customer service (Razwana). Great choice of frames. Really can’t fault them, what a find!

This was my first time using Asda Opticians.

This was my first time using Asda Opticians, I went into store 8 days ago and a lady name Dawn was so helpful, I explained all the problems I'd been having at Specsavers, explained exactly how I wanted my lens to look, she helped me pick my glasses and then I had a big shock in how cheap they were, I'd had 2 pairs of glasses with my NHS vouchers for £103 what a bargain, then today I fetched them I was so impressed them. Thank you so much Dawn and Alex who I met today, I will definitely be recommending you guys to everyone.

I just want to praise the staff at Croydon Opticians.
They were so helpful above and beyond my expectations, I had a problem with my frames and they had such expert knowledge they had them repaired in just a few minutes .
I have been getting my glasses there for quite a few years, the staff and service is excellent.

Asda Opticians Aintree.

Asda Opticians Aintree.
All the Staff were amazing from Reception to the Optometrist.
The range of Men's and Women's frames were great, with so many extra add ons to your lenses for the one price. What was so appealing is there aftercare, from fitting to their varifocal lense promise, that they'll change them to normal lenses within a 2 week window, if you can't adjust to them, free of charge.
From pricing, to excellent Customer Service, you can't go wrong. I would definitely recommend a visit.
Thanks Karl and the Team for your Service.

Extremely impressed with Joseph's excellent services!

I was extremely impressed with Joseph’s knowledge and professionalism at ASDA’s Optician’s in Harrogate Store in North Yorkshire.

I wasn’t sure about getting a pair of varifocal glasses in the past.

Joseph had recommended me to go for a most suitable option as a start to see how I would feel about them.

Joseph was very patient, gentle, polite and friendly. I was very lucky to have been served by Joseph on that day as I didn’t feel nervous or uncomfortable at all.

After trying my new varifocal glasses, I went back to get my frames’ legs adjusted as the right leg had been hurting the back of my right ear.

Joseph had adjusted them for me again and again making them perfect for my ears and nose.

I am very happy with my new varifocal glasses now as they are my main glasses being worn every single day.

Thank you ever so much for your great efforts and tremendous help to me, Joseph!

All the very best to you for everything!

Very helpful team when in store...but

Very helpful team when in store...but .....
Their admin (isle of Dogs) has gone to the Dogs!!
And their glasses now getting to same price level as elsewhere and quality notably down on a few years ago. (Have used them annually in Watford for 10 years but now moved)
Missed their SMS saying glasses were ready and rang them to be told no glasses yet delivered. Then saw the SMS.
Also after picking up glasses, wanted a copy of prescription ....but despite having taken my email address and phone number, apparently I have to trek over 8 miles back to the store to get the copy of prescription ...as they don't have email access ...sad. Last time I use ASDA opticians

Stay away from Asda Opticians Merrieland Crescent Dagenham

Bought new glasses when collected said they weren't staight she went off and bent them, it lasted an hour then revert to odd shape again. Took them back twice more with the same problem. Was told that an appointment had been made for the manager. Duly went and she said she would endeavour to bend them again. I said no they had tried it 3 times and even the optician had removed the lenses and refitted them to no avail I neede a new frame. She then proceeded to remove a pair from the rack to show me how to wear glasses. I am 72 years old I only have 1 face, 2 ears and 1 nose so I dont know how I was wearing them wrong. She told me to go 'elsewhere' and gave me a refund. However, I realised when I left that I hadn't got a copy of my prescription so went back only to hear this manager gossping about me to a colleague. I contacted head office after fighting for several days to find an address only for them to dismiss my concerns, they said the manager was 'training' staff - that means that the first person to 'bend' my glasses was the one she was gossping with so she was untrained when she bent them. If you want to be welcomed and respected please pay that little extra and go 'elsewhere'

Be aware if you're not happy...

Tbf have had no problems in the past but this time wasn't happy with varifocals (worn varifocals for years) i think due to being a bit wide at the nose kept sliding down so i was looking through wrong part of lense. Then she tightened very uncomfortable but having fixed nose bridge couldn't adjust little buds(?). In the past shopped with vision express and if you're not happy they will exchange within an 100 days. Not so asda. Got to see manager who wasn't in so i have to return so he can 'test' my reading. Shouldn't my not being happy with the glasses be sufficient reason to offer alternative. It was within 10 days . Will stick with bigger names in future

Worth a try at Roehampton

Having two consecutive terrible experiences with SpecSavers Putney, decided to chance it at ASDA Roehampton who were recommended to me by a friend. Optician was professional and answered all my questions. Test done, on to picking specs…a lovely lady named La was super attentive, helped me pick two pairs that were right for me, gave me a great discount on extras. So far, great service. Another attendant Jessica was friendly and helpful too. Got no gripes, will report back if this changes when I pick them up!

Extremely slow

Add an appointment and three weeks later still no news of them about my glasses. I had to rang them to be told it will be another week but they cannot give an exact date. Certainly the slowest glasses provider in the world. And in the meantime I am still without glasses. I cannot believe there are Which? recommended supplier.

Asda Great Bridge Opticians

I came to Asda for my second pair of varifocals due to prescription change. I had quite a few pairs from Boots, Specsavers and Vision Express and was never happy but just thought this how they should be. I even had to return my last two pairs due to the extremely limited vision field, despite choosing the most advanced and the most expensive lenses. I got my first pair from Asda nearly 3 years ago and was amazed with the quality of the lenses, especially considering that the lenses were free!!! You just pay for your frame. Being an experienced varifocal wearer, I can tell with confidence that Asda's lenses are the best, with all the lens features imaginable included in the price. But the main thing is there is almost no distortion. I have never thought varifocals can be so pleasant to wear.
Customer service is first class too. Great team, very kind and attentive members of staff. I came with prescription from VE and the glasses Asda made were not good for me. I was offered a free eye test to check if the prescription I brought was correct, and there was a slight change in prescription in the end. I was kindly offered to change the lenses, despite it was not their mistake.
Overall very pleasant experience and I am devoted Asda Opticians' customer from now on.

Well where do i start

Well where do i start, purchased two pairs of glasses from the Burnley store, thinking its time for a change from specavers, but what a mistake, i think there should be an ad about my experience.

The locum manager in store was as useful as a cucumber, when asking what pair is good for me in terms of fit, but took a punt and purchased some armani glasses (after an initial exchange), to cut a long story short these glasses were adjusted on numerous occasions but to no avail.
I then complained recently to see if anything could be to head office, initally was quoted a 72 hour response, i think it was more like 720 hours and then the response, well i might as well have asked my neighbour.
Trust me, Asda Opticians are not worth it, the customer service, the type of glasses is very poor to say the least.
Think I will be sticking to specsavers!!!

Disappointing

I'm very disappointed with the service at the Asda optician in Cwmbran. I arrived for my scheduled appointment—confirmed by a text message, no less—only to be told that they had no record of my visit. There was no apology, no effort to resolve the issue, just a shrug and a suggestion to rebook. My friend recommended Asda's Opticians in Cwmbran, so I made an appointment two months ago. If this is how they treat customers, I'll take my business elsewhere. I'll go to Specsavers opticians in Cwmbran, who value my time and custom. Stick to what you are nearly good at, Asda. GROCERIES.
Update: I visited Specsavers in Cwmbran, and they made an appointment for the following day. Now that's service.

Took my grandson to have a screw put in…

Took my grandson to have a screw put in in glasses because one had come out .
Told they couldn't repair them because he is not 16years of age , ask them to let me have the screw and I would mend them myself.
No way , told to go to spec savers which I did and they put a new screw in within minutes no questions ask for free as well .
All said and done it was a screw not a packet of cigarettes or vapes.

Asda Opticicans Gloucester Response to complaint

73 year old retired male with glaucoma visit to Gloucester Asda opticians with in store response to customer feedback... my prescription glasses from Asda had loose plastic ear components on a metal shaft that moved about 3-4 mm which caused me to keep pushing them back on my nose. This created the skin on the right side of my nose to wear away due to a very poor quality bridge and the loose plastic ear pieces. It also caused the retaining screw holding one lens to work it's self out resulting in the lens falling out and glasses unusable after only 6-8 weeks. The 3 staff responded by saying the loose plastic ear components are to adjust different peoples nose to ear distance. Being a retired engineer I pointed out it's still loose even after any adjustment and the retaining lens screw did not have any lock tight used in construction to stop the lenses falling out plus the bridge keeps moving causing the lens metal frame to wear away the skin on my nose. The in store sample frame confirmed my points raised with customers trying on different frames in store. The 2 female staff commented I was intimidating because I did not agree with their comments pointing out the frames I picked out were NHS prescription frames. They only cost £45 and no lock tight used so the lens can be removed. My response was the frames supplied are not fit for purpose which calling the male manager he agreed. The manager refused to upgrade my glasses to a more robust fit for purpose glasses hence my review. All 3 staff agreed the £45 frames were very poor quality not fit for purpose and it's what you get if you get government help due to your circumstances. No apology saying they only sell them so an absolute disregard for quality and customer satisfaction. The reading glasses I purchased at Home Bargains for £1.40 as a stop gap have much better quality frames.
Rip off Britain
