Outlier has been a good experience so far. The projects are interesting and helpful in building skills and attention to details. There are occasional slow periods but overall its a very good platform... See more

Horrible company that will treat you…
Horrible company that will treat you like sheep. Had a 2.0 score and was dropped along with 1000s of other with no explanation. They will use you then drop you because they need new data sets.

As a contributor I got banned for no reason (at least not explained) and the company hadn’t paid me for the realized tasks. Contacting the support is impossible - it’s just coresponding with automated responses.
Removed from a project without explanation.
It's a nice experience while everything is working just right. However, it turns out to be terrible once they decide to arbitrarily remove you from a project without giving a plausible explanation. It would be understandable if they gave you a forehand notice and detailed feedback about your work, but it just doesn't happen. Finally, if you try to reach support to appeal that decision, the only thing you can face is an AI system numbly replying the same thing over and over.

working here feels like being in an abusive relationship. there's lack of transparency with every aspect of things and the platform uses every social engineering trick in the book to squeeze max productivity for minimum pay
Banned with no reason and without pay
Banned with no reason and without pay. While I understood not to rely on the program the amount of time I spent doing unpaid training, troubleshooting issues off the clock to ensure id meet proper work quotas on the clock and of course the work I did on the clock all added up to a very significant chunk of time. I basically worked for them for free and signed away personal information for 0 return.
Account deactivated without explanation, pending earnings withheld
I worked on Outlier since December and was recently on the Aether program / Tools Experts group. On April 26, I experienced the same issue many others are reporting: a redirect loop, removal from Hubstaff/Aether, Multimango changing to “unapproved annotator,” and then an account closure.
Support sent nearly instant template responses claiming a “confirmed violation” of Community Guidelines and Terms of Use, but never provided the specific violation or addressed the details I gave them. I do not believe I violated any rules, and I was also told my pending earnings would not be processed.
The lack of transparency, automated appeal responses, and refusal to review recorded work time are extremely concerning. Be careful relying on this platform for income.

I’m sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision before working with Outlier.
I was an active contributor on the platform with a 5.0 rating and had recently participated in one of their webinars. Without any prior warning or indication of an issue, I suddenly lost access to my account. At the same time, I encountered login errors (ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS) and my Hubstaff account showed no available projects.
After contacting support, I was informed that my account had been permanently deactivated due to an alleged violation of their Community Guidelines and Terms of Use. However, no specific details were provided—no explanation of what guideline was violated, what task was in question, or when the violation supposedly occurred.
Most concerning, I had approximately $100 in earnings from completed work that they have stated will not be paid out. This work was completed in good faith while my account was active and, to my knowledge, in good standing. I received no warning, no opportunity to correct any issue, and no transparency into the decision.
When I requested clarification, I was told that the decision was final and that no additional details could be provided, despite their claim of a “thorough review.”
This lack of transparency, combined with the withholding of earned compensation, is extremely concerning. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to proceed with caution when working with this platform.
Removed without warning or explination
I joined outlier in march and was I was skeptical at first. They offered what is considered a very good rate where I live and it seemed too good to be true. Sure enough after a week of tasking, I got my first payout and I was ecstatic. Following that their payments were always on time and for the amount promised. In this regard, I have nothing to complain about.
However...
Last night, myself and many other contributors got permanently banned from the platform for supposedly violating their Community Guidelines and/or ToS without so much as a email.
They won't tell me what it is I did wrong and are refusing to pay me for the work I've done this week, which is close to 20 hours.
I realize there isn't much I can do to prove that I didn't violate any guidelines or rules, so I will ask you to take my word for it when I say I did nothing wrong.
When I did my initial research into the platform, I noticed a few complaints about stuff like this happening, so I was always aware this opportunity would be fleeting. I did not expect them to throw me out like that without so much as a peep.
Update:
Apparently me getting removed was a mistake and they managed to fix it within a day. That being said, I think their procedure for letting people go is very harsh. Even if I did do something wrong, permanently banning me without any kind of warning or explanation and withholding that cycle's payment is very unethical in my opinion. If I could give 2.5 I would.
Banned with no reason
Banned with no reason after almost 3 years, and one as an Oracle. Also, the support team only provides automated responses.
This platform is a joke
This platform is a joke. Before, I used to see people commenting negatively about it, and I thought it was just seeding. But when my account was unfairly banned, all my money was confiscated, and I had to reply to a bot in emails in vain, I realized that you can lose your job at any time, and the time you work will be stolen. Since selling itself to Meta, Outlier is just an empty shell. Everyone who was banned at the same time had all their earnings stolen. Outlier saved Meta a huge amount of money training those stupid AIs.

My account got deactivated and not able to login(redirect to create new page) in some mid-tasking. No email, no explanations, and have 1k+ outstanding payment they refused to pay. I did not violate any rules and this is ridiculous
Banned for no reason
Banned for no reason. On Saturday, I was working normally, and on Sunday, when I woke up and tried to work, my account had already been banned. For no reason, they said I had violated the terms and rules. I saw on Reddit that many people are having the same problem, and the worst part is that they are not going to pay me my earnings.
Account deactivated - Aether
It was a good entry, but they deactivate you without noticing you
2-Year Oracle Contributor Banned Without Notice or Reason
I have been working as an Oracle on this platform for over 2 years, consistently delivering high-quality work and strictly adhering to all guidelines. However, my account was suddenly terminated without any prior notice, explanation, or evidence of wrongdoing.
This is not an isolated incident. There is a massive wave of unfair bans affecting many experienced contributors like myself. It appears to be a major technical glitch or an unethical purge of long-term workers. For a platform that claims to value expertise, treating their veteran contributors this way is disgraceful and unprofessional.
If Outlier values its reputation, they need to review these mass bans and provide transparency. Until then, I strongly advise others to be cautious—your hard work and loyalty mean nothing to them.
Mass ban after completing platform-assigned tasks — earnings withheld
On April 26, 2026, hundreds — possibly thousands — of contributors were permanently banned after completing transcription tasks that were assigned directly by the platform. No prior warning, no specific explanation, only automated responses citing vague “Community Guidelines violations.”
Pending earnings for work already completed and delivered were withheld with no justification. Multiple appeals were ignored with identical templated responses. A human review was only initiated after formally referencing the mass arbitration clause.
This is a systemic platform error that Outlier has yet to officially acknowledge. The affected contributors community is growing by the hour across Reddit and LinkedIn.
Think carefully before investing your time and work on this platform.
Avoid
It was all good up until 2 days ago when my account got deactivated for violating rules of outlier even tho i didn’t do it in any way and after asking for justification i got sent the automated response like 5 times. I though it was just me problem but i saw on reddit that mass of people got their accounts deactivated for literally no reason on the same date so better avoid this website for the good of your mental health cuz after sometime u gonna get banned for no reason without any way to get your money.

I recently had a very disappointing experience with Outlier. After working on the platform for just three weeks, my account was suddenly banned without any clear explanation or warning. During my time there, I made sure to follow all guidelines and complete my tasks to the best of my ability, so this decision came as a complete shock.
What makes the situation even more frustrating is the lack of transparency and communication. There was no detailed reason provided for the ban, and attempts to seek clarification have been unsuccessful. It feels unfair to invest time and effort into a platform, only to be removed without justification or an opportunity to address any potential issues.
I had been working on Outlier for 2+…
I had been working on Outlier for 2+ years, on multiple projects, often as a senior or trusted reviewer. They even offered me a QM job at one point. Then just out of the blue banned me permanently, no appeal, no email to even inform me of this. I had to log a support ticket to find out which was just the usual AI generated excuses of I have 'violated their guidelines'.
They don't respect their workers
They don't respect their workers at all, they remove you from projects even with a high score to reduce costs then mass ban many outlier accounts without a good reason or an email notification. If you value your consistent income and respectable career life, don't join outlier as they don't how to do the bare minimum for you.
Oulier and everyday anxiety
Where do I start.. I have been working on outlier for almost 1.5 years ago. I started with my personal account, and then I was recruited to be a LATAM coder where I got accepted.
Everything was fine, until I got deactivated without any reason. I had to ask a QM and he told me I was deactivated because I was not in the country I stated I am from, which was incorrect.
I provided proof and my internet provided also sent me proof via email saying sometimes the IP address might change. I sent all of that and I got my account reactivated.
But guess what.. I got deactivated again, WITHOUT A REASON!!! I started checking on the internet and it seems is a mass deactivation, not only me.
People are getting deactivating without any reason. Some of us have outlier as the first source of income because we were laid off or other reasons.
But they do not care at all. So, if you get in the platform, just know every day you will have anxiety because you don't know when you are getting deactivated. You will be kick out, but you do not know when.
