I believe that my greatest…

I believe that my greatest disappointment lies in lack of communication. I had a hard drive disk failure and was referred to Outsource. I initially had difficulty in getting on the online registration to set up a project. I then called and spoke with Ashley who explained that there were some issues with the site. She helped me set up a project, and I paid $150.00 for emergency service. She sent me a label to affix to my hard drive for overnight delivery, but when I arrived at the FedEX office was told that label "expired" for overnight. When I called Ashley confused, she said she had never heard of such a thing, but as it turned out, since it was coming up on a holiday weekend the disk wouldn't be received until the following Tuesday (this was a Thursday). At that point I should have been refunded the $ 150.00 charge.
I then had to call on Tuesday to see if the disk had been received because at no time had I been made aware that communication with me would be through the online portal that I had had trouble with. I received an email from the lab indicating that disk was received and in evaluation and they would get back to me. I anticipated that would be via email again. Another day passes and I learn after another phone call that they are waiting for my acceptance before they proceed with data recovery on the portal. Once again, due to issues with the portal I needed assistance getting in and at that time I accepted and also chose the $600.00 option because I was desperate for completion as my livelihood depended on this. Again, issues with the portal causing my card to be charged 3x for the $600.00, causing it to reach it's max. The extra charges were eventually backed out. But it was a full week before I received the data that I had now paid almost $1000.00 for.
I feel very strongly that Outsource Recovery should offer to refund the $ 600.00. It was a clumsy, inefficient process, mostly due to issues with the online system. I will say that Ashley was a patient, competent person to deal with.

Took 1 month to determine that my flash drive was not repairable. Another month to show me the data that could be recovered (not all of it was). And in an email they said they would charge me if they get no response in 5 days. I have responded twice and they still have not responded. It has been 6 days Luckily I haven't been charged so far. The customer service is a dumpster fire. Still waiting for response.

While I was given a lot of hope

While I was given a lot of hope, it turned out to be a false positive. I paid the expedited fee for 72 hour turn around, had to call a week later for a status update. Was asked to download a viewing program and to make an appointment and Cameron would call to do an online viewing. Instead, a link was emailed to me a 1/2 hour after said appointment and the files weren’t viewable. In my opinion Cameron takes ion far too much. Getting ahold of someone was no small feat. All the photos I was told could be recovered unfortunately weren’t.

Successful recovery of my data

Successful recovery of my data from my failed HDD. My only slight concern was that the turnaround time was a little longer than expected. It felt like my job may have fallen through the cracks but fortunately it was not urgent.

Reliable company and excellent quality service, but slow communications

My overall experience with the company was quite positive. They were able to recover all of the data on my hard drive that I thought was lost. Because it was not a simple fix, the recovery cost more and took longer than I expected. Nevertheless, I was happy to pay extra to get back my data. My only issue with the company had to do with the difficulty in communication - while I found the website updates of the project status very useful, email communication at the end of the project was very slow. However, I was eventually able to reach the person in charge of my project by phone and he shipped my order right away. Then, in a few days I received a hard drive with all of my recovered data.

In short, while communications could have been better, I am still very satisfied and would certainly recommend the company and its services to others.

Better than expected

Better than expected, they were able to save most of the data. Decent turn around time. Would have given 5 stars but the online communication could be improved, good phone support. Would use their services again.

It did work

The company should explain things better. Our HDD was mechanically broken and couldn't be repaired, supposedly, but they could still get the data off of the drive by "repairing" it and using a clean room. We asked for clarification more than once and never got a straight answer. Also, the estimated cost is exactly what it will cost. Don't think that it may be any cheaper. We did get 98% of our data back and would recommend for folks that need theirs off of a damaged drive.
