Not using this company again. Would never have had I known you can't contact them by phone! Insured my car by direct debit for 9 months, never defaulted in any of the payments. Came on to get a quote for a new car, couldn't speak to an advisor, just an automated service!!! Horrible. Was quoted £166 increase which you have to pay up front!! Doesn't give u the option to chance the direct debit!!! Then I came on 4 days later AFTER paying my usual £59 direct debit and it's only dropped £9!!!! Scandalous!!! Wasn't even able to talk to someone to see what would happen with my NCB if I went with another company as I was quoted much cheaper somewhere else! So was stuck using this company !! Never again. Avoid at all costs !

I am already insured with peppercorn and wanted to change the policy to a new car.
I didn't realise at first it is all automated response so was going to go elsewhere so I could speak to someone regarding a new quote as thought it would be too complex through the online chat system.
Well I attempted it through peppercorn first and glad I did! It was very straight forward and easier then I thought. I got a great price I was happy with and glad I didn't go elsewhere.
I would definitely recommend and not be put off not being able to speak with someone. Luckily I have not had to experience making a claim so cannot comment on that side of things and hopefully won't have too!
However so far it has been plain sailing to get my insurance sorted.
Avoid at all costs.
My car was hit by a stolen vehicle and I tried to claim via this Insurance who I had been with just over 6 months. They was super difficult to get a hold of, took 21 days to respond to emails and managed to get out of paying me after coming up with 4 separate reasons why they should pay me. Never have I ever had to declare my current milage to an insurance company, nor did they even ask (it must have been in the small print) not only did they not pay me put for my car they decided it would be right to also write my car off when it only cost £2,000 to repair when my car was valued over £15,000 at the time of the accident.
I'm so glad the MIB has paid me out because I would have been stuck with a Cat S car with no way of paying back my PCP. These guys don't care, they are a horrible company and just care about themselves.
Pay the extra to be with the big guys, I've learnt my lesson and I hope you take this on board aswell. Please avoid, this is not me been bitter, it's me letting you know my experience.
Thank you for reading.

I didn’t need to make a claim. All the communication with the company was smooth. They use AI, it’s very efficient. The price was great comparing to its peers.
I found the service provided was very efficient and to the point.
This is my third negative review. I am so happy that managed to leave them now and go with a standard and normal insurance company.
After 8 months of a simple non fault accident, they have not managed to close the case and add my no claim bonus which affected cost of new insurance.
One big warning on addition to all previous one. They are called Peppercorn insurance, if you make a claim, their name changes and case will be handled by Davies motors and auxillis or someone else and if you make complaint their name change to Wakam UK limited. So they are hiding under different names to make it difficult for people to get justice. But I will not stop until justice is served.
*****Update 11/06/2024
Their reply shows pure incompetence. Accident was recorded non fault, the other side's insurance fully accepted in writing that it was thier fault and that they will cover all costs. No claim discount was also protected. And still more than 8 months and the case has not been closed. From day one it appeared that peppercorn insurance is against Thier customers rather than protecting my rights. The only reason I can see why the case is open is that after accident peppercorn insurance valued my car too high to justify massive repairs bill and huge hire car costs rather than write off and now they have difficulty recovering those costs from the other insurance as the cost was more than the value of the car.

I was frustrated at having to deal with an online bot as experience tells me it is never quite right. However, I have to say what a great experience this was - I was changing my car and adding business use - brilliant!

I took out car insurance last year with Peppercorn and I unfortunately had an accident in February. I've received solicitors letters through the post today explaining that Peppercorn have not paid out the claim and that they will start court proceedings against myself. Finance ombudsman has been contacted. You can't get hold of anyone on the phone. Have emailed today but they have 8 weeks to respond to my official complaint which could be too late before I'm taken to court. Thanks Peppercorn for cause unnecessary stress during a time that's already not great. Avoid at all costs!

They were okay initially with setting up insurance, however their customer service is appalling and well below standard - if a mistake is made by a company I would expect for it to be put right asap, rather than being told they cannot help and that my only option is to complain and then wait 8 weeks for a response to my complaint. From my experience, I don’t know how this company is still running.
It’s completely impossible to contact anyone over the phone, even if the issue is urgent. Obviously customers are not a priority for Peppercorn.
They didn’t update my email contact details (even though they confirmed that they had) which eventually led to my insurance being cancelled with less than 12 hours notice (they finally emailed the correct email address with the final notice). Also they don’t communicate with the finance company (as I paid monthly) which resulted in me paying money and there being no record on system. Refused to reinstall my car insurance even though it due to their own fault and payment was up to date, and said it’s impossible for them to rectify now - so I’ve lost 6 months no claims bonus and had a lot of stress finding new insurance on the same day.
I could have very easily been driving around with no car insurance if I didn’t check my emails frequently. I can’t even imagine what it must be like dealing with them if I needed to make a claim.
Please avoid this company for your own sanity, no real care for their customers, and can leave you in a dangerous position both legally and financially. Only good at giving you a PDF proof ‘of insurance’ and nothing more.
