Pestana Chelsea Bridge,Will not be staying again,the only up side to this Hotel is that where is ample parking next door.The staff act as they do not want to be there,My shower door was hanging off,so got in the bath the plug did not work so could not fill the bath,Cracked drinking Cups.The hotel staff very uncaring apart from one person named ilona who did tried to help us. we will not be back.

Wonderful staff that aim to please for the whole stay. Sofia was fantastic and always happy.
Entertainment team were amazing Always getting the guest involved...especially Rafa...'oh yeah!'
Stretch/yoga and aqua exercise all good fun.
Evening entertainment was mostly good but finishes at 11pm
Food OK not brilliant. Speciality restaurants nice. Guitarist entertainment at breakfast was fantastic as was the pianist
Bedrooms for sleeping OK but beds not the most comfortable and rooms could do with an update.
Overall 4 out of 5. Would stay again

Stayed in Pestana South Beach Alvor.
Nice hotel, good position on the beach, clean, well run with good breakfast. Would recommend. Good value for money.

Do not use. Pestana Chelsea Bridge first ignored emails , then replied just saying "kind regards" with no answer and then on third attempt ignored again . Awful chain.

Pestana is poor - much prefer being looked after by Iberostar or RIU! Proper caring hotels!!

Do not go here. It's one of the worst hotels we've stayed in. Definitely the worst we ever have in Madeira, which we love and have been going to for over 20 years.

Firstly, you can have a pool towel only between certain hours of the day. 10-12 and then some time in the afternoon which I can't remember. So don't expect to just be able to go and grab a couple and then go enjoy the facilities. You will get told to go away and come back at the correct time. And don't expect any help from reception because it would seem their only job is to sell you tours and additional hotel facilities.

Then there was the food. Absolutely inedible. And we were far from the only ones thinking and saying that. Everyone we spoke to said it was awful and disgusting. I had chicken wings one night, bit into the first one and it had blood coming out of it. Didn't bother with the rest. And don't think the Al La Carte options are any better. Italian - if you like pizza that hasn't been cooked. And the Botanic was even worse. The Espetada (beef skewer), of which we have become big fans of this Portuguese dish over the years, tasted like gristle dropped on the floor and swept up.

The room was so disappointing - chose a junior suite - was like something out of the 1980's. The locks didn't work, the shower was so powerless it couldn't even wash the shower gel off properly and my wife couldn't wash her hair at all. She had to go and use the sauna showers for that. And we had an adjoining door with the next suite which meant we could hear our neighbours go about their business (toilet and bed) all night long. Lovely.

And if you do go there and don't like the experience then don't bother to complain because the hotel management couldn't give a monkeys. Take it up with Easyjet. And they couldn't care less either.

Want a good all inclusive experience in Madeira? Go to the Hotel Enotel Lido down the road. It's a lot closer to Funchal and the promenade as well. Unfortunately they didn't have the dates we could do or we'd have gone there, where we've had great holidays before.

How ridiculous is this in 2023?

"Have just returned from a 4 day stay at the hotel. It's located some way outside the center of Funchal . 10 minutes by car or over 1 hour walking however there is a very good bus service ,number 2 about every 20 min which stops quite close also the Yellow tour bust stops near. The hotel is clean well equipped with both indoor & outdoor pools gym etc. My room was on the ground floor and was well equiped clean & had addition seating area and veranda. Breakfast was buffet style good choice but all quite basic staff very good but sometimes it was difficult to get service as only 2/3 staff present to cover a large area of indoor & outdoor seating. One thing that did Suprise me was the absence of a room service menu every other 5 star hotel & even some 4 star offer this service !. My deal was half board and lunch have very limited options either the pool bar or limited choice in the Italian restaurant , when i ordered salmon was told it was not available 1. the hotel has 4 options for dinner An Italian , Moroccan & Madeiran restaurants, all of which need to be booked in advance & have very limited availability, and finally the buffet which for a 5 star hotel was very disappointing all very basic stuff not at all what you would expect from a 5 star hotel . So there you have it Hotel & staff good . location a bit out of the way food well below par on balance would prefer to pay a bit more & have a better food offer"

A litany of problems which began with toilet flush not working, a giant cockroach which after being beaten was a meal for ants before cleaning got round to sorting it, locked out of room because of malfunctioning room key, air conditioning with a mind of its own...etc etc. Not worth the money. Fab location tho.

Chelsea Pestana London)The hotel management and security are so bad. This hotel is caused lots of disturbance for the residents and caused lots of noises during midnights.
The outdoor after 12 is the main gathering point for big group of drunk people with anti social behaviour.
The security is having a room in the hotel and resting during the night.
They are not doing anything to maintain the people’s safety. Horrible place to stay

Stayed at the Pestana Columbus Porto santo last month NEVER again this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at . It’s classed as a 5 star that it certainly isn’t service was extremely poor with cockroaches in the bedroom
The food was poor along with the flies that settled on it
There are far superior 3 and 4 star hotels on the island offering much better service and food on the island so choose wisely The Torre prai is a great hotel and if you are on a budget go bed and breakfast here and eat your main meals in pingo Doce supermarket restaurant, as the food there was 100 times better there than at the Pestana Don’t waste your money at the Pestana you will be disappointed

We returned last week from a wonderful holiday at the Prestana Alvor Praia. The hotel is lovely and we enjoyed a great room overlooking the beautiful gardens and the sea. What made this holiday so good was the attentiveness of the staff and in particular the restaurant staff who provided a truly 5* service so professional, helpful and polite. A special mention to David and Tatiana who went the extra mile 👏👏

Just returned from Poussada Palmela. Superb historic building. Very comfy rooms with a huge bed, all spotlessly clean. Fantasic breakfast but less kean on the evening menu. Well informed and attentive reception staff.
Fantastic position with great views. Of course as it is in a castle it is at the top of a hill so you need to be fit to walk into the small town and even fitter to walk back. However, there is an infrequent bus or take a taxi.

Pestana Porto Santo we went to this hotel on the 22nd may the hotel is very clean and tidy the rooms are very clean the matteres are very hard but you can ask for a mattress topper this makes it better. the rooms are clean and very spacious unfortunately this is where the good things come to an end .
In less than an hour of being in this hotel i asked for a cheese burger it was raw i spoke to the management and the rep about this i shown them photos which i will attach. after being promised it wouldn't happen again the next day i got egg shell in the fried eggs the same evening in the meridian lovers restaurant i asked for the Kebab well done it bled all over the plate i did not eat it i walked out, the food is of very poor quality and many occasions undercooked, on our last night i went in the main buffet where i got some chicken this was also raw i did not eat it i spoke with one of the managers i had already spoken with. about this he had also promised it wouldn't happen again he to a photo of it from my phone , so from the first hour to the very last day i had nothing but problems with the food at this hotel. the entertainment for adults is none existing day of night. karaoke this is entertaining yourself. as for the bar 20/30 minute waiting then you will get any glass whiskey in port flutes beer glasses, brandy glasses, whine glasses, same with beer very poor children's entertainment ends at 930.pm no it doesn't they are still being entertained at 11.30 pm running everywhere be very careful what you eat if you go here please i have worked in food all my working life i have never come across anything as bad as this, they tell you there sorting it out but still on the last day of my holiday i was still complaining about it one very unhappy customer

An amazing Hotel (Alvor Praia) with some of the most attentive staff. Would deffo recommend!

Pestana Riverside Amsterdam - lovely hotel and really enjoyed our stay. BUT - despite checking out almost 3 months ago, our outstanding refund of €106 has still not been received. Numerous emails, calls and no action from Pestana to resolve, just a lot of blaming their accounts dept, Visa and even Brexit. Brutish travellers beware, they say they have a problem issuing refunds to us

Place is old and needs upadating!!! Dirty rooms. No lights for work. WiFi was bad. Doors didn’t open correctly. Got stuck in the bathroom several times because the bathroom door would not slide open. Very disappointed 😔

The hotel is amazing, Rooms are very well maintained and clean. Really close to the beautiful beach of Porto Santo. Check in was very fast and friendly. Breakfast staff very welcoming, great breakfast, amazing surroundings. A place to be back for sure!

Me and my wife, Birgitta had a fantastic stay at Pestana South Beach Hotel from 13 – 15 January. You and your staff’s attitude, friendliness and professionalism made it a memorable one.
Location is also an upside and we really enjoyed.
When checking out on the 15, we asked about a returning visit after our cruise week after, and it was not an issue, even our visit was only some eight hours prior to our returning Europe flight.
We were welcomed again with same smiles and open arms and even had access to Beach Club.
It was a very pleasent cestus and highly appreciated service that for sure will bring us back and hopefully soon 😊

Check in at 16 seems exagerate but they did it at 17 30 , no bathrobe in the room even should be , check out at 11 am even we have a long flight ahead
