Every thing went pretty smooth

Every thing went pretty smooth. Except when they mailed my check to the wrong address. So it delayed me getting the funds. But other than that.

When I had my cat Gidget I had …

When I had my cat Gidget I had insurance on her, for many years I did not have to use the insurance, then one day she had to have surgery for Cancer not one but two times and then found out she was a diabetic. I called Pet First and this wonderful person told me that this was covered under her plan. I had to pay my deductible then 90% was paid. When I would send in the information to get reimbursed it was no hassle and got paid in record time. Gidget has passed on and I now have two wonderful kittens and each of them have insurance. I hope Fawn and Raven never needs to use the insurance but just in case its there and I feel more at ease that they have it. Thanks again Pet First

Leslie,

We are sorry to hear about Gidget's passing and hope you find comfort in your memories of her. She was so lucky to have you as a mom and get her the treatment she needed. I'm sure Fawn and Raven are just as spoiled and we are glad to have them as part of the PetFirst family.

I had Petfirst for all of my German Shepherd, Smokey's life (12 years) and they always paid claims within 10 days of receiving them. I have no complaints with this company and will use them again.

Insurance but not....

Insurance but not....

I have had this insurance plan for 6 years which costs me $22 a month.. Add that up to $1600 which would have more than paid for my latest visit to the vet.
This vet visit cost me about $600 and the insurance decided they would only reimburse $40.....
I have never made a claim until now and to be honest all the work of filing the claim cost me way more than the $40 they are sending us..
My dog also now needs a $2500 surgery which apparently is not covered.. So why have insurance?
Cancelling this garbage policy ASAP.

If you own a pet, save your money. Even the good plan is just about worthless. Beware and research before signing up for anything with this company.

Came through again

My dogs skin was getting dry, and I noticed he was getting doggie dandruff and has some areas that had bumps. Took him to the vet to find out he had bacterial dermatitis. After some tests, aspirations of the bumps and leaving with a prescription of antibiotics- I was so glad to learn PetFirst was reimbursing me for most of it!

Horrible.

After being denied claim after claim I decided to discontinue the insurance. Apparently my Dog's illnesses were not covered because it was under my $250 deductible. Month after month I paid $30 just to keep getting my claims denied. I should've saved my money and put it in a piggy bank for a rainy day when I would have to take my dog to the vet. HORRIBLE.

Andrea,

I am sorry you were disappointed with your coverage. Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse for an issue that is below the deductible. I noticed you did have a fairly high deductible of $250, and we do have lower deductible options of $50 or $100 if you were looking for reimbursement for lower veterinary bills. Again, we are sorry you were 100% pleased with your experience.

Sincerely,

Turned down claim

We adopted a mixed breed puppy from the Kentucky Humane Society and received 30 days free of Pet First insurance. Our puppy was urinating in the house and we were not sure if it was due to an infection, poor behavior, because we were not letting her out enough or because she had just been fixed. I wanted to make sure I had coverage before taking our puppy to the vet so I called and enrolled in the 30 day free program. I called our vet to explain the situation. I stated that she was urinating on the floor and had been since we got her. The receptionist made a note of our conversation. After several rounds of antibiotics the infection was finally gone. I even continued my coverage with PetFirst after my free 30 days expired. I submitted all the forms for my office visits and tests. I received an email that they needed the vets notes too. I submitted them as well. My claim was denied! The vet office noted that my pup was urinating in the house, since we got her and Petfirst stated that we had no coverage when we first brought her home. They knew what the diagnosis was so it was easy for them to deny. So becareful what you say to your vet office because It could be used to deny your claim.

Katie,

I am sorry you were dissatisfied with your experience. Unfortunately, pet insurance cannot cover anything that is pre-existing to the policy effective date. We appreciate you making your pet's health a priority and setting up the insurance included with your adoption. We are sorry for any confusion regarding the policy's coverage, and understand it can be frustrating when you receive a denial on something you think will be covered. We appreciate you being honest with your vet about the symptoms, and always encourage candid conversations in order to provide the best health care for your pet, which is our goal at PetFirst.

Sincerely,

Great Company!

I love PetFirst. Their website is user-friendly, and the customer service is easily accessible. Filing a claim is a relatively simple process, and the PetFirst folks are great about handling claims. My beloved dog has had some medical expenses, but PetFirst has really helped defray the costs. In a world in which you practically must have a law degree to understand an insurance policy, PetFirst is a breeze. I highly recommend them!
