Service you can trust

I am really pleased with PetFirst Insurance. Our dog had to have surgery that was 900.00 dollars. Luckily we were able to pay for the surgery and then get 90% of our money (after our 50.00 deductible). It gave us peace of mind knowing that if anything happened to our dog in the future we would have no worries paying for the need and then getting 90% of our money back. The claim was easy and fast.

Life saver

Perfirst Pet Insurance allows pet owners to have their sick or injured pets treated without having to think about the cost. I am sure it has saved many lives.

Love having the peace of mind!

I researched a lot of pet insurance companies and PetFirst seemed to have the best coverage and rates for my dachshund. They cover conditions that the dachshund breed is prone to that a lot of others did not. I like having the peace of mind that if something happens to Zoey I'm covered!

We have two dogs under our policies and PetFirst has covered so much of our expenses. We would never be without pet insurance again and see no reason to change to another company. My ONLY complaint is that I have yet to have an inkjet printer that will print it cleanly. It does not fit the 8.5 x 11 inch paper and many of the letters are so close together that the run into each other and smear. It would be nice if someone could test that out and make a better claim form, as I'm sure there aren't many who have more expensive printers that print cleanly. I am using an old claim form which I copy that was originally printed from a laser printer. Now, if that is the ONLY problem, I won't really complain! :-)

slow response to claims

MANY times, my claims have not been processed within the ten days promised...often I've received excuses about "the fax wasn't received, our computer system is broken, etc., etc., SUCH a disappointment!

I am sorry you have been disappointed in your experience. Unfortunately, our claim processing time did increase due to a higher than anticipated number of claims coming in. Good news, though, we have now hired additional staff for our claims team to help get the processing time back down. We have also launched a new online claim portal in your MyPETS account, so you can digitally upload your claim information and submit it.

We really appreciate you feedback, and it was feedback like yours that has lead us to make changes to our process, hire additional resources, and look at ways to continue to improve the process.

Prices have increased dramatically.

Been with Petfirst for 7 yrs now. The plan goes up every year. This year the company wants want an extra $420 on top of what I paid last year. That seems like a lot. It's never gone up that much but my dog was diagnosed with cancer. I believe that's why it went up so high. I was told that's not the reason. On a positive note Petfirst is effective in helping with questions and approving claims in a timely manner.

Our plans will increase each year due to your pet's age, but we never increase premiums due to making a claim. I completely understand that a $420 difference is significant. pretty happy

make sure you get the right policy limits for your pet. It is not enough in most cases to just have insurance, you have to investigate the different levels of insurance.

Old kitties now

Having done rescue for abandoned cats for 10 years, I needed help. Several of my kitties not adopted, are now geriatric. Petfirst has given my prompt responses to questions, and to my submitted claims.

Better than ANY "people" insurance

Claim forms are short and easy. Claims results are very fast, check in mail within weeks. There are no hidden fees, surprise deductibles or questions. This is amazing insurance made simple. A true no-brainer. And not expensive. Excellent people, excellent company. Purchasing this insurance was the best decision I have made in years. All three of my dogs have their own policy.

Reliable company

My lab, Odie, has been insured with this company since 6 mos of age and he's now 9 yrs old. Now that Odie is older he's been little more prone to injuries and having PetFirst has alleviated lot of our vet bills which we are very thankful for. I've never had any issues with PetFirst and would recommend to anyone looking for a little of mind for their 4-legged family.

Great service

I would recommend Pet First to anyone, and I have to all of my friends. The first claim is really hard to submit but once you get past that the next claim is much easier. Still a great service.

Responsiveness

I emailed my first ever claim (hopefully only one ever) and received no response. I gave it some time and called. When I called I got sweet and helpful woman that told me the weekend I submitted my claim, the computer system had gone down. So they had no record of my submission. She had me resend the claim and she followed up me with a couple of times, as did the computer system, to make sure my claim was received and in the correct hands for processing. I received my check a few weeks later as promised. The problem was averted by great customer service!

Hasn't Really Paid Off...

We were unaware of the 90 day requirement and submitted our puppy's claims when he was finished with his immunizations all at once. Of course, we weren't reimbursed for any of it. What's worse- we DID submit a claim within the 90 day time-frame later and the company denied it, claiming that they didn't "receive it" until the 91st day. We've not been reimbursed for anything.

I am sorry you aren't satisfied with your experience. Unfortunately, we do have to receive claims (or they must be postmarked) within 90 days of the date of service, which is noted on the claim form. Our goal is to pay as many claims as possible, as long as they are within the terms of the policy. We also have the ability for you to file your claim electronically through our MyPETS portal now, so all you have to do is upload the image or file of your itemized invoice and medical records. Great benefits

We have used PetFirst for several years and they have been very good at paying out our claims every year. Unfortunately we have had several big claims for our dogs over the years but it gives us a piece of mind knowing we will get reimbursed for our claim. I would definately recommend PetFirst .
