Just Say No
I paid my monthly premium for years
When my dog got osteosarcoma, I paid over- $12,000. of vet bills.
Pet first reimbursed me $1,500
Had I placed the premium amt in a savings acct rather-than pay Pet First, if have had over $9,000.
Pet First is a scam. Most pet insurance is.
Really, put 50 bucks in an acct for vet expenses and force this, and other pet insurance scams, to reform or go belly up.
Don't let the "introductory offer" lure you in. Your premium will increase more-than two fold.
When your pet is too old to get insured elsewhere, PF will slam you with insane premium.
And my dog was NOT sick before she got cancer. I paid mothly for years, never got reimbursed for anything before this cancer treatment.
Now that my beloved dog is old and needs care for cancer, Pet First has not been much help.
Don't do it!
You'll regret it.
I do

Difficult to reach
While the coverage for our dog has been good, trying to contact them and speak to a human is very difficult. I tried calling twice yesterday and once the day prior to stay on hold each time over 15 minutes without an answer. The website is good for information before you buy but is lousy and hard to navigate once you are a customer.

Great company who is very helpful and has a reasonably quick return with claims.
The customer service reps are very friendly over the phone. There are several ways you can submit your claims and they keep you updated on the process. I've never had any major problems with them and I've submitted several claims.
Best Pet Insurance around.
We first purchased PetFirst for our shelter dog at discounted price for one year. We feel that PetFirst does care about your pet's health if they are willing to provide insurance to an animal that has most likely been abused.
I always get a person when I call them for any reason and their representatives are fully knowable of their insurance.
After listening to other pet owners, PetFirst is well in line with prices and their policy coverages .
Thank you PetFirst for being there for our wonderful 8 yr old shelter dog (Ace) that has been with us for 6-1/2 years of his life! As of April 2016 we now have a new rescue dog 14 month old (Mae) and PetFirst has already been there by our side!
Very satisfied
Pet First Insurance has great customer service, they are very compassionate and the benefits paid are good. I am very happy with this company, and I can tell they care about their customers and what happens to their pets.
No value with PetFirst. Go Nationwide!
They do not respond to emails which is a big problem and bad business practice.
They charge you multiple deductibles in one claim, which is fine since I am aware this is a per incident plan, but my dog was sick and for each ailment that went along with being one kind of sick, they deducted $50. For example, she had a ear infection and the yeast from her ear affected her skin and eyes, so they deducted $50 for each the ear, eye and skin issue.
Additionally, every month they cannot figure out how to bill you properly and you constantly get policy cancelation emails, then they somehow miraculously get the charge through (yes there is always money in my accounts).
Compares to almost every other plan out there, they cover nothing, overcharge and customer service is severely lacking.
I switched to nationwide and the plan is phenomenal, as are the reviews.

Really Great Customer Service!
Quick with processing claims. Fair with payment.
Great insurance!
Great insurance. Four stars (instead of 5) as I had to send claim documents over 3 emails, as the Petfirst email server cannot handle large sized documents (which one typically has, when scanning vet forms), and their fax wouldn't accept such a large document either. So not set up well to receive claims, however, they handled our claim reasonably efficiently once it was received.
Excellent program. Great customer service!
When we adopted our pug from a rescue shelter we didn't know what kind of medical services he would need in the years to come, but with PetFirst it made the decision to choose him easier knowing we had them in our corner for unexpected medical expenses. They have really helped cover a lot of medical expenses over the 7 years we had our little buddy. THANK YOU PETFIRST!
Helpful
I have only had to call PetFirst once, but when i did, they were very helpful and easy to work with.
I unfortunately, have had to file two claims with PetFirst. Both claims were approved and processed very quickly.
Last year I almost cancelled my policy, I'm very glad that I did not.
Excellent
I have had 3 dogs covered by PetFirst for over 6 years. I have submitted one large qualified claim of over $7000, along with several other qualified claims ranging from $100 to $800. In every case, PetFirst has handled the claims quickly, professionally, efficiently, caringly and without hassle. They have paid the exact amounts due (Total bills minus deductibles and copays) without delay. PetFirst is one of the few companies that I can recommend with confidence. Thank you very much.
Exceptional customer service!
It is very rare these days that I actually feel like my business is appreciated, but this is not the case with PetFirst. I have used them for the entire six years since I've adopted my dog, and honestly for the first three years or so I wondered if it was worth the (very affordable) monthly payment. I have now encountered a couple situations where I wasn't prepared for incredibly high (and very necessary) veterinary bills when my boy got sick. I couldn't be more grateful for my reimbursements and the professionalism in which they were handled. I can't say enough good things about this company!
Works great for us
Had our dog at the emergency vet a while back. Dog ended up being ok after everything. After the $440 vet bill, we received a $390 refund from Petfirst within a week of submitting claim.
Would not be without Pet First.
Thank God for Pet First Pet Insurance.
my pet
they were very good to me when my puppy , peewee broke his leg
The Best
My dog will be 12 in two months. I came to be her person when she was three years old. PetFirst insurance has served her well. They suggested that I could switch to a different plan that would cover her needs as she aged. I am so thankful that I listened to them as she is having some issues with her joints and ears.
I did my due diligence before selecting an insurance company, and PetFirst is a credit to their profession.
