£20000+ in repairs in 3 years
My experience with Peugeot has been nothing short of a nightmare, starting from the very first day we purchased our brand new 2019 Peugeot 3008 GT Line.
Over the three years we owned the vehicle, our repair bill has totalled over £20,000 on repairs alone. It was in the garage so frequently that I lost track of the number of visits. We faced constant AdBlue issues, sensor malfunctions, and engine problems—each requiring multiple appointments. The car even broke down twice.
The latest breakdown saw the vehicle towed to the Peugeot dealership for a full diagnostic. After a month of delays and complete lack of communication, we were presented with a £4,000 bill, driven largely by their exorbitant £200/hour labour charge.
After another week with no updates, we contacted them again—only to be told we now owed an additional £14,000 for a new engine. Naturally, we declined, as this amount exceeds the car’s current value. As a result, we’re now stuck with a £4,000 bill just to scrap the vehicle.
Peugeot has long had a reputation in the UK for being unreliable. I had hoped that with modern technology, things had improved—but sadly, that is clearly not the case.
This ordeal has left us in serious financial distress.
If you're considering buying a Peugeot, don’t. Avoid this manufacturer at all costs
Huge disappointment
No stars really! I would never buy/lease another Peugeot / buy from any other dealer. I leased a brand new Peugeot 2008 in March 2025. On day one I reported there was a loud screeching noise from the brakes. I reported to the Finance company Leasy’s and Peugeot as well as the leasing company. So far Peugeot instructed me to take to a Peugeot dealer and said it would be covered under warranty. However, because the dealers diagnostic check failed to pick up the fault Peugeot expected me to pay for the test, which I reluctantly had to do. However, I STILL have a screeching noise and neither Peugeot or Leasy’s are willing to take responsibility for it. I lease so I don’t expect car issues.
This is totally unacceptable and I would avoid both companies. There has been no communication whatsoever from Peugeot and only one email from Leasy’s saying they are investigating but they have not taken my car for a manual inspection or given any details of how they are conducting the investigation.
My leasing company has been liaising with both Peugeot and Leasy’s but not getting anywhere with them.
I think it’s time PEUGEOT took responsibility.
Happy car shopping/leasing choose wisely!
Extremely Poor After-Sales Support from Vospers and Peugeot
Extremely Poor After-Sales Support from Vospers and Peugeot — Ongoing Issues with Brand-New Van:
As a long-standing customer operating a small business fleet, I’ve purchased four vehicles from Vospers — three of which have been reliable.
Unfortunately, my most recent purchase, a brand-new Peugeot van bought in October 2022, has been plagued with problems and paired with shockingly poor after-sales support from both Vospers and Peugeot.
In just over two years, this van has required:
- Multiple diagnostic visits due to engine management lights and loss of power.
- Two battery replacements, one requiring an AA call-out.
- A faulty AdBlue sensor diagnosed by an independent garage — ignored by Vospers, who instead blamed “low-grade AdBlue,” despite me using the same product in other vehicles without issue.
Despite these faults occurring under warranty, I’ve been repeatedly charged for diagnostics and repairs. Peugeot’s service response has been equally unhelpful — with wait times of three to four weeks for a warranty appointment and no offer of a courtesy vehicle, which is completely impractical for a business reliant on its fleet.
To make matters worse, Vospers' communication has been inconsistent and dismissive. Their refusal to acknowledge the independent diagnosis of a faulty AdBlue sensor, paired with no clear resolution or gesture of goodwill, shows a complete lack of accountability.
We have formally raised complaints with both Vospers and Peugeot regarding these issues. Vospers has dismissed our concerns outright, offering no meaningful assistance or resolution. Even more concerning is that Peugeot has completely ignored multiple attempts to engage with them, failing to respond to formal communications or offer any support to remedy the situation. This level of disregard for a loyal customer is deeply disappointing.
I’ve been forced to take on additional expenses, including AA callouts and extended warranties, just to stay operational. For a new vehicle under warranty, this is totally unacceptable.
Having been a loyal customer to both Peugeot and Vospers for years, I expected far better service and support. Sadly, this experience has eroded my confidence in both brands. I am now actively considering switching to a dealer that offers better vehicle reliability and genuine aftercare.
Peugeot poor quality and non existent customercare
Peugeot Review – A Catalogue of Failures and Zero Support
I rarely write reviews, but my experience with Peugeot has been so consistently frustrating and disappointing that I feel obligated to warn others. What started as a promising vehicle quickly revealed itself to be a poorly built, unreliable money pit — backed by some of the worst aftercare I’ve ever encountered.
Seat Belt Faults
Safety should be non-negotiable, but even the basics are flawed here. The seat belts frequently jam, fail to retract, and in one instance, wouldn’t lock properly. For a modern vehicle, this is unacceptable and downright dangerous.
Timing Chain Nightmare
At just over 60,000 miles, the engine began making a distinct rattling noise. Diagnosis? A stretched timing chain — a known issue across several Peugeot models. This wasn’t just expensive to fix, it was avoidable had Peugeot addressed the fault proactively. Instead, they ignored it, and I was left with a four-figure repair bill.
Dismal Sound System
For a car marketed as stylish and tech-friendly, the sound system is appalling. Bluetooth cuts out mid-call, the radio signal is inconsistent, and the speaker quality is barely above entry-level. Even after software updates and visits to the dealership, nothing improved.
Build Quality and Reliability
The infotainment screen lags and freezes. Interior plastics scratch if you breathe on them. The cabin rattles. The engine feels underpowered, especially on motorways. This car doesn’t feel like it’s built to last — because it’s not.
Non-Existent Aftercare
The worst part? Peugeot’s after-sales service is virtually non-existent. Appointments are hard to book. Warranties are worded to dodge responsibility. And when problems do arise, customer service is either dismissive or ghost-like. No accountability, no ownership, no support.
Final Verdict
I regret buying this car. Not just because of the endless issues — though they’re bad enough — but because when things go wrong, Peugeot simply isn’t there. The lack of aftercare makes every problem ten times worse. If you value your money, your time, and your safety, avoid Peugeot at all costs.
My daughter has special needs and just…
My daughter has special needs and just been awarded Enhanced PIP I was looking at the mobility cars that could help. i went in to the Oxford Peugeot showroom down the iffley road. As soon has I went in i was immediately felt welcomed and I had both of my children with me. Dan was amazing he took the time to explain everything to me about mobility, I was offered drinks and he took us all out in the car just so I could see how it ran. I then arranged to come back the same day just with my daughter to test drive. He was extremely patient and as I have never driven an automatic took the time to go through everything with me. He then took me through explaining the mobility application in detail and the whole process was really easy. I have never had a mobility car before and this whole process with Peugeot in Oxford was amazing. I would definitely recommend Dan and the team in Oxford to anyone. From someone who had no idea of the mobility scheme and wanted something that my daughter could get in and out of he took the time with us. I am extremely happy with the whole process. Thank you Julia

Pug vechicles in recent years have just gone downhill in quality I'm afraid we used to have approx 27 pug vechicles we are down to only two at present of which one is for sale and one constantly in the dealers
pug or stelantis group in my opinion is just poor quality with little service and the vertu group have no idea what they are doing I'm afraid

I have a Peugeot 5008 reported I have spiders in the rear light cluster the dealer not very helpful told I just have to live with it phoned Peugeot customer service they have told me the same it's not a manufacturing fault it is a vent hole well as far as I am concerned if you put a vent hole in something you put mesh over it to stop insects being able to get in very unhelpful company would not recommend them or there dealerships
Lack of parts
Nearly a month I've been waiting for a set of front springs for my car that is currently sat at my garage broken really isn't good enough
Should not be this level of delay on parts!
Cars are so unreliable
Cars are so unreliable, do not touch. Something always goes wrong which is always an expensive fix. Would never buy another Peugeot, absolutely terrible cars.
Peugeot timing belt premature break
The timing belt has just snapped on my Peugeot 3008 18 plate. Which is obviously going to be a huge repair bill. On speaking to their service department I was told the recommended interval for change was 10 years or 120k miles. My vehicle is not 7 years old yet and has done 66k miles. Has been regularly serviced in line with manufacturers guidelines. Was advised by Peugeot that they were aware of an issue with this happening and we entered into discussions with regards to them undertaking the repairs. We were then passed to their goodwill department. Does not live up to its name. To be told very abruptly there’s nothing we can offer car is too old! Car is 3 years and 60k miles under the recommended interval to change a timing belt! In my eyes this makes it unfit for purpose. I’ve been left with a very hefty bill and have lost all faith in Peugeot. Disgusting customer service and vehicles that are unfit for purpose
Peugeot recommend a timing belt change…
Peugeot recommend a timing belt change at 120K miles. When your belt fails at 66K mile you would think they would be able to assist financially to rectify the issue especially when it is likely to be between £3 and £4K. Though they initially informed our servicing mechanic that this is an issue with the 3008 the "Good Will" department advised that as it was a 2018 model it was too old for any assistance.
Be aware if you own one...maybe time to ditch it?
PEUGEOT Chingford London DO NOT GO THERE AT ALL YOU WILL BE ROBBED
PEUGEOT BRANCH IN CHINGFORD LONDON and Peugeot as a whole absolutely APPALLING . DO NOT GO TO PEUGEOT CHINGFORD OR YOU WILL BE ROBBED LIED TO AND CHEATED INTO BUYING A NEW CAR FROM THERE AND PEUGEOT CHINGFORD AFTERSALES IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. The staff are so so rude and like to talk behind customers backs. I have mine as a lease car so it is meant to have WARRANTY. I’ve had my car since September 2023 and I can’t wait until next year to get rid of it. Mainly because the after sales and ongoing issues with the car which the garage claim is my fault because I have a sub woofer connected. But a specialist looked at it and said that is not the fault it’s the infotainment system but Peugeot will not do a thing . So the car from time to time automatically resets itself and is In French . Good Job I understand French so from time to time I have to do all the settings again . The subwoofer was fitted by a certified specialist who installed the same subwoofer in my bmw 2 series and I had ZERO PROBLEMS. So Anyway back to September 2023 after being mis sold the car I decided to take the car . I WILL TELL EVERYONE HONESTLY, IF YOU KNOW ANYONE THINKING OF GOING TO PEUGEOT CHINGFORD PLEASE DONT. It will be all a con . I wanted the car a few times (as it’s under warranty ) to be checked over . In November 2024 i was hearing clanking noises on the car and when I took it in AFTER WAITING A MONTH FOR AN APPOINTMENT then upon arrival I was Rudely ignored and then when you go to the service desk they all seem clever to PUT YOU OFF even looking at the car. The guy who see me said I had to wait for the lease owner (who I lease car from although under warranty at Peugeot) I was waiting nearly 2 hours although Waited a month for appointment and also was booked in a certain time . In the end I left after the guy said they won’t probably pay so I need to pay for them to look. I decided to leave and I called the lease holder I was leasing from . I arranged via them to go back in January this year. When I turned up apparently I had to go with a technician for a drive to see about the problems I had and to hear the noises I was Hearing. The technician took me next door to a sainsburys car park and just drove around in circles
You could HEAR the noises but he Claimed he could not
I went back to the branch and another guy looks at me so evil looking and raised his voice and said ‘if you are wasting my time you will be paying for my time ‘ he mentioned that the lease holder who I lease my car from EVEN THOUGH CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY will NOT BE PAYING for time spent checking over the car
The car had only done 20,000 miles and apparently the rear brakes were 100% gone and front brakes 80% gone which was alarming for a brand new car . That seemed worse than an old fashioned car
I was like wow
But the thing was I was RUDELY SPOKEN TOO and treated like trash
I decided to make a complaint via my lease car holder company
I had a direct email to a Robert McKenzie WHO DID NOT REPLY TO A SINGLE EMAIL until earlier this week
I was given a mere £20 top up and not even an apology
To make matters worse I also complained about that but I was ignored
The actual complaint was dealt with by an elisavet who tbh tried brushing me under the table
I asked manager to do an investigation but he didn’t even reply my emails or Called me
I complained again to them but again they refused to reply
I’m yet to take it up with ombudsman
I made a complaint via lease car holder company who they said that the manager Robert claims he called me and it did not happen
I asked to show recorded call that he called me and his phone call record
Robert said that the calls are NOT recorded for training or monitoring purposes and he failed to show phone call record
He thinks he has got away but I will have someone investigating that branch
DO NOT GO TO PEUGEOT CHINGFORD AS THEY ARE CRIMINALS
IF YOU HAVE A BAD EXPERIENCE REPORT IT TO FINANCIAL OMBUDSMAN
NOT ONLY ARE THE CARS NOT WORTH IT THE AFTER SALES ARE TERRIBLE AND THEN DURING THE SO CALLED WARRANTY PERIOD THEY ROB YOU MORE. Absolutely appalling and I hope they are monitored and investigated by law enforcement and also financial ombudsman. Use trust pilot or another social media platform or go to newspapers which i will do soon. Absolutely appalling and no real apology. You MUST REPORT them if any issues. They can’t get away and the manager at Peugeot Chingford is a criminal and liar . I had no real apology and I was fobbed off
Also I could of been in a serious road accident had I not had help to push to get my car seen to which cost over £1,000 to lease car holder company. So AGAIN DO NOT BUY A PEUGEOT FROM PEUGEOT CHINGFORD DO NOT . You will regret it I promise you. I can’t wait for September next year when I can get rid of it but Hell AFTER SALES.
Because I stood my ground the manager at the branch said I can’t bring my car to that Branch anymore as if I want to
DO NOT BUY A NEW PEUGEOT FROM CHINGFORD BRANCH
Impressed!
E-3008 recently collected this and couldn't be more impressed. 1st peugot came from a citroen to this and its a brilliant upgrade. The Peugeot garage I got my car from were also extremely lovely guys ensuring we had all the information needed and no pressure for a sale either!
The app is useless
Bought a brand new 2008e and love it, however, the app is totally useless. Cant pre-heat the car, cant check charge time or level etc.
If we knew the app didn't work we wouldn't of bought the car.
Highly recommended customer service …
The staff at the Peugeot dealership that I used today in Northallerton were the most professional team I have experienced in over forty years of driving. From purchasing the car last year to the way they were today, they were absolutely above and beyond. However, I feel the need to mention that we initially went to them because our experience of dealing with Simon Bailes Stockton was appalling.
I loved my Peugeot 2008 which I had on…
I loved my Peugeot 2008 which I had on PCH. Unfortunately the timing belt went after only 2 years. From that moment my trust in the car was lost. Had always intended to renew but have now gone with a Nissan Qashqai. Will never have a Peugeot again.
Appauling service from Peugeot with known manufacturers fault
Purchased peugeot 3008 1.3 pure tech
2019 from peugeot dealer 12 months ago. Has full service history and only done 20k miles.
Car now off the road due to engine oil failure local mechanic diagnosed wet timing belt. Apparently most cars same ages and less than 60k mileage have had recall due to manufacturers fault causing this failure.
Peugeot have been less than helpful and in fact have been obstructive in giving me any assistance. They want me to have the vehicle transported to a peugeot garage at my cost and then pay for them to diagnose the problem again at my cost. Only then will they decide if it is covered on extended warranty.
Although I have full service history as they were not done at a peugeot dealership and we cannot tell them what oil was used at service they will not even consider it is a manufacturers fault.
I have found peugeot staff to be less than helpful and dismissive. The staff I spoke to informed me there was no recall on my car despite the fact that it was the year the problems occurred and is well below the mileage they recommended for replacement. As a side note I have only done maybe 2/3k miles in the year since purchased.
How Peugeot can justify this decision when I now know it is a well know problem with the 1.2 pure tech.
I will never again purchase another Peugeot with this appauling after sales service.
My daughter has a 408 Peugeot 23 plate…
My daughter has a 408 Peugeot 23 plate 30,000 miles apparently needs a new timing belt wow 😮 we was shocked , I’ve had 5 3008 . My Daughter has had four Peugeot all from new , we have both said we would never buy a Peugeot again has she has been treated appallingly by Harlow Customer care has said the cover 50% of the cost which I think is a joke we have been trying to contact Harlow to see what they will do as Customer care Said they will contribute, but we are having trouble just getting Contacting with someone to confirm this. in the meantime, my daughter I can’t drive a car and listen to this apparently it cost £1600 to repair. I have rung up 3 to 4 other dealerships and it all said it shouldn’t cost no more than £1000 and if it was them because of the loyalty that we have given them they would do this for free of charge so please avoid Peugeot
Abysmal customer care
We brought a car mid December. It broke down early February. 5 hours for recovery. Then no courtesy car as they were out and we hadn't booked the car in, which we couldn't do as we didn't have psychic abilities.
No courtesy car so have had to hire a car now to get to work as a community nurse.
Several phone calls to customer care 0 returned.
Would not recommend or buy peugeot again. One week on and still no car repair ed or courtesy car
Please avoid purchasing Peugeot and…
Please avoid purchasing Peugeot and their service plan. My 23 plate 408 already requires a new timing belt. Given the mileage and age of the car this is incredibly surprising, not mention that it should be under warranty! I have been informed that despite me purchasing several Peugeots all with service plan, this would not be covered as service fell outside of milage threshold at the point of the first service. This was no fault of my own! This was due to them being very busy and not being able to get me. No support what so ever.
