Worst Customer Care

Bought a brand new Peugeot 208 less than 2 years ago and developed an engine fault due to a faulty engine control module. Peugeot customer care were absolutely useless and and have no degree of care. I have been left without a courtesy car (3 weeks now) and no prospect of my car being repaired due to parts shortage/back order. Contacted customer care multiple times a week being promised a call back with no response. Absolutely disgusting service. How can they knowingly sell a faulty vehicle and when the vehicle becomes faulty, leave their customers in the lurch? Absolute fraudsters and will never be purchasing another Peugeot. Cannot wait to be rid of my Peugeot ASAP.

Excellent service vertu derby

Excellent service.
from Robert ,Poppy, Stacey and the rest of the staff at vertu derby.
Having had a few issues at another peugeot dealer. It was refreshing to deal with a team that had the ability to use its initiative when dealing with an issue to create a solution rather than to perpetuate a problem.
The staff kept me informed on the state of my vehicle. And I received vehicle back in timely fashion. With all work completed .
I would have no hesitation in recommending vertu peugeot derby to family and friends . And would certainly recomend making the short journey along the A52 to deal with a professional outfit ,rather than having to deal with absolute clowns at stellantis peugeot nottingham.

Keep up the good work ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Save your money. Don't buy Peugeot.

I bought a Peugeot (2016) 2008 family style SUV which turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes of my life.

I bought the car as my wife and I were expecting our first child and the car seemed, on paper, a good family car.

I got the car for £8,000 with 35k miles on the clock. Over a period of a year and a half, I had to chuck close to a thousand pounds (£1k) at the car because the parts are made of chocolate!!

Within a year and a half, the vehicle needed:
- AC regassing
- Strut top mount x 2 (both sides)
- New exhaust bracket
- Drop Links x 2
- Brake pads and discs
- Major service
- New tyres x 2

After all this, I was driving the vehicle on a dual carriageway and the engine burst out in white smoke.

Garage said the engine had a whole in it caused by a faulty with the wet belt in the engine.

Peugeot state the wet belt needs to be changed every 10 years or 100k miles. My car was still within these but it was a well-known fault that the wet belt in these cars were faulty and degrade incredibly quickly.

Peugeot knew/know this and decided NOT to recall any of these vehicles and instead, extended the warranty of their engines. However, they've done this as a clever way to avoid doing the work as they refuse to do the work unless the work is just to repair the wet belt and the car requires to be serviced absolutely perfectly by a peugeot garage each year pn the dot (which they know would be rare for a customer to do).

My car was serviced every single year and peugeot refused to honor the warranty on the faulty engine as one service was done 2 months after the due date and the fact the car was never serviced by peugeot themselves as they didn't know if the correct oils were used each time. Absolute Bollocks!

So, the car needed a new engine which was around 3k-3.5k. The car was worth around £4,000 then if I sold it privately so I scrapped the car for £700 and still have a £5,000 bank loan to pay off which I took out to originally get the car. I now need to pay that off and get a new car whilst I have a new born baby and with my wife is on maternity.

What can you conclude from my experience? DON'T BUY FRENCH!!!
The quality is so poor and designed with faults everywhere and the manufacturers dont give a toss and try everything but to recall vehicles so they keep more money.
Me and my family will never buy French vehicles again and we will actively try to discourage others from doing so. Shameful.

Peugeot 3008 with less than 25,000 miles engine failure 12 pages of error messages and a huge bill

I am writing to let every potential consumer that is interested in buying a Peugeot 3008 (one with a wet belt) my extreme dissatisfaction and frustration regarding a significant and costly engine failure on my Peugeot 3008, which has only covered under 25,000 miles and is just four years old. This issue resulted in the complete dismantling of the engine and a repair bill exceeding £3000. Furthermore, I have yet to recover the car from the dealership. This prolonged delay leads me to question if the 12 pages of computer error messages are preventing them from being able to repair the vehicle.
What is particularly galling is my understanding that this engine issue is a known manufacturing defect within Peugeot vehicles. Despite this, Peugeot’s “Goodwill Department" has inexplicably refused to offer any goodwill contribution towards the repair costs, effectively abandoning me, a loyal customer, to bear the financial burden of what is fundamentally Peugeots manufacturing fault.
Peugeots refusal to acknowledge and act upon a known manufacturing issue demonstrates a shocking disregard for customer satisfaction and product quality. Looking at online reviews, it appears that this engine damage, is a direct result of the engine design to accommodate the wet belt. It seems this engine is riddled with issues. Are Peugeot selling cars that even mechanics struggle to fix? A question: how would any of us cope with 12 pages of error messages from our Peugeot 3008? Personally, I feel sick!
It seems Peugeot do not look after their existing customers and reading through Trustpilot reviews I am not alone, with my experience of my Peugeot 3008 I would say avoid the purchase and don’t be treated like the existing 85% on this review website.

Update July 2025: Good news: After some communication, Peugeot agreed to repair the 3008 and waive all charges. I'm pleased with the outcome, despite the initial stress of the situation.

Peugeot refuse to honour the warranty

My 3008, still under warranty, displayed an engine management warning light, which then went away after a few 10s of miles. I called Peugeot who told me to take it in to a dealer to get it checked out. The dealer couldn't find a fault, and charged me for the investigation. Peugeot refuse to pay for the investigation because there was "no fault".
Let's be clear: even if the light was a false positive, that is a fault. Not recording the fault in the log is also a fault.
If you can't trust the manufacturer to do the right thing, then don't use them again. So this is my first Peugeot and now my last.

Common Fault, No Recall?

Had an e208 for 3 years when the air conditioning was noticed to not be working. Had it re-gassed at a cost of £180. Exactly 12 months later (to the day) and it was back in the garage because it was not working again. £670 later it needed the condenser replacing. 10 days later and it is not working again. It has only on 23k miles so do not consider this excessive use. Last year it was within the extended warranty period. This year not. Looking online, it looks like this is a common fault with older models so why no recall? Not impressed.

Just over a month after receiving the vehicle it has safety issues and cannot be driven Peugeot cannot even look at it until 26/6 over 2 weeks away and cannot provide a courtesy vehicle. If I could give 0 stars I would - Peugeot do not seem to have the back up to deal with these issues that are arising from the new vehicles and don’t seem to care. Customer service are very rude!!

Disgusting customer service.
We have a 3008 GT Line and only after 40 thousand miles the timing chain snaped, had RAC recover us as they could not see the problem at the roadside. The mechanics said he never seen this before and was a catastrophic engine malfunction as the engine is gling to need a lot of work and is going to cost over £3.500 to fix. Contacted peugeot to be told its not there problem and put the phone down. After ring the back three times and a further 3 time no help and the phone put down again it was clear peugeot are just after your cash.
Avoid Avoid Avoid, worse car we have had. DO NOT GO TO PEUGEOT.

Absolutely shocking customer service!

Car had been booked in with my local dealership last year for the timing belt recall — the team at the dealership had made it out that my timing belt had been changed. Fast forward a year later and my timing belt is crumbling to pieces, so i phoned the dealership only to be told that they only did a software update for the recall and was forwarded to peugeot customer care only to be told they didn’t care and couldn’t do anything despite me repeatedly telling them i was told the belt had been changed and i was misinformed! i’m a single mum on incredibly low income and informed them of that. they absolutely do not care about their customers at all and with the amount of issues I’ve had with this peugeot i won’t be getting another in the future !!!

Would never purchase another Peugeot due to the extremely poor customer service, I was mis-sold a service plan and when the two local dealerships close I was told my plan was nom longer valid at ay other service centre which wasn't under the dealership. I purchased my product from a sales centre where Peugeots name was over the door! They now expect me to either travel over an hour each way to get my car serviced or up-grade my service plan. If there are other in the South East of England effected by the closure of Canterbury and Ashford Marshall Peugeot, please complain and review. I do however wish I had these reviews prior to my purchase.

Diabolical Peugeot Aftercare

Peugeot customer services are simply a pointless organisation, they will not aid or progress any issues you may have with the dealer or service network at any level.
They are an illusion designed to make you believe Peugeot are assisting you with an issue , when the reality is they will listen ,give you a case number then proceed to never contact
you again.

Avoid Stellantis vehicles the build quality and aftersales support is Diabolical.

Bad communication

Bad communication. Brought the car in early I did not have transport back home. I specifically asked if they could put my car in first as I have to wait. Told me it would take maximum three hours because it was just a computer download. Walked around for three hours and then came back and they haven’t even started and did not communicate with me. I have never had a good experience with the Peugeot.

Peugeot - Unclear servicing schedule - BEWARE

Unclear servicing schedule - BEWARE. Booked 23 reg 208 GT in for 2nd service. Got 2 quotes so opted for the cheaper closer dealer. Halfway through the service we received a phone call asking if we wanted the additional operations carried out? Namely, replacement of passenger compartment filter (annually), replacement of brake fluid (every 2 years). I asked why these were not included in the service? These are 'additional operations' not included in the 'systematic operations service'!
This is so poor from both Peugeot and the dealer (Charters Aldershot). Should these items be done or not? The dealer quote did not include these recommended items yet they only tell you when they have your vehicle. These 2 items more than double the cost of the original quote from £200+ to £400+. To make matters worse I found out these items were included by the other dealer and would have been much more cost effective. Stuff like this really grates. I asked Peugeot head office for comment and they only added to the lack of clarity. In a word - USELESS
2 stars is overly generous

Peugeot Boxer Van…

We bought a brand new van for our business which is essential for us to deliver goods. We have had it less than 6 months. So far the van has had a faulty battery which we had to replace urgently at our own cost. The van was recalled for a possible fault to be checked. This resulted in the van being off the road for another 2 days. It would have been more but we had to take the van out before completion as we could not wait any longer. Business has suffered with loss of income for these days and drivers lost earnings. Peugeot aftercare were not interested in any of this. I suggest any business owners who rely on a van for their business to avoid these vans as your business will be at risk due to the unreliability of the vehicles and the appalling service once they have your money.

Booked in for online for 10am minor service and emissions cleaning. Sent email advising of booking. Only to find out once my father who took the car in that it’s not actually booked it and that the service centre needs to confirm. What’s the point of a booking time slot and also why do I need to confirm twice for one service, absolute waste of my time and my dads . The lady at the service centre advised they need to confirm the appointment. When I asked through my father whom spoke to her where was the phone call to advise me before hand . She just said it needs to be confirmed, but again where was my phone call. Booked in again but will be looking elsewhere if I can find one .

Peugeot Motors Leominster, forget the after care

Three years ago I bought my 4th new Peugeot car from Leominster Motors (Peugeot dealer).
I bought a Peugeot 2008 that has been nothing but trouble. Most recently I discovered that one of the doors showed signs of corrosion. I took it back to Leominster they told me I need to get it assessed by a Peugeot approved body shop. They gave me wrong information and sent me to a garage that isn't Peugeot approved....wasted 50 mile journey. I then spoke Peugeot customer service who told me my nearest garage is 110 miles away. In addition they said they could not provide a courtesy car until the vehicle was off road ie in the garage for repair. Once it was in the garage I could get a car from Leominster Motors. So.....I drive 110 miles then walk back to get a courtesy car?!! DO NOT BUY FROM PEUGEOT ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY THEY DO NOT CARE.

Make Up Costs as they go!!

Our 208 developed an eps/ abs fault and quoted £180 for diagnostics and wiring checks. Fault was found and then told £180 for additional wiring checks.
Told them about washer pump issue which told it would be £180 extra. This after telling them at the start.
Stay away from this horrendous brand of liars and rip off merchants!!

£20000+ in repairs in 3 years

My experience with Peugeot has been nothing short of a nightmare, starting from the very first day we purchased our brand new 2019 Peugeot 3008 GT Line.

Over the three years we owned the vehicle, our repair bill has totalled over £20,000 on repairs alone. It was in the garage so frequently that I lost track of the number of visits. We faced constant AdBlue issues, sensor malfunctions, and engine problems—each requiring multiple appointments. The car even broke down twice.

The latest breakdown saw the vehicle towed to the Peugeot dealership for a full diagnostic. After a month of delays and complete lack of communication, we were presented with a £4,000 bill, driven largely by their exorbitant £200/hour labour charge.

After another week with no updates, we contacted them again—only to be told we now owed an additional £14,000 for a new engine. Naturally, we declined, as this amount exceeds the car’s current value. As a result, we’re now stuck with a £4,000 bill just to scrap the vehicle.

Peugeot has long had a reputation in the UK for being unreliable. I had hoped that with modern technology, things had improved—but sadly, that is clearly not the case.

This ordeal has left us in serious financial distress.

If you're considering buying a Peugeot, don’t. Avoid this manufacturer at all costs
