Pictory.ai is massively overpriced for what it offers. The generated videos are poor quality, often inaccurate, and require a lot of manual fixing — which defeats the purpose of using AI in the first place.
Key features like API access are locked behind the most expensive subscription, making it completely unrealistic for small businesses or developers. This isn’t mentioned clearly upfront.
On top of that, cancelling is intentionally frustrating. You’re forced to go through around 10 pointless questions just to cancel, which feels like a dark pattern designed to make users give up.
Overall, bad value for money, weak output quality, and an unpleasant user experience.

The support is terrible. They tell you to "stay online and we will be right with you", but after 25 minutes you realize that is a lie. After you hound the chatbot it tells you that it has sent your request to support and they will be in-touch.
All I wanted to do was change my email address, and they told me I had to move all my projects and setup a new account.
Really? That's ridiculous.
I decided I wanted to cancel my subscription and get a refund of $216 for the remaining 9 months of my 12 month subscription.
They will not do that. Once they latch unto your money it's gone.
What kind of policy is that? If someone is not using your service anymore, why do they have to pay for it?
That kind of behaviour tells me they are desperate for income because the product sucks.
Stay away and beware.

Hi Lis,
Your support team did not address my refund concern at all, when can I expect my refund? They just told me they are waiting for me to open another account. Not happening. I am done with you and your "team" I just want a refund for the remaining unused months.

Update:
And here's their response to my refund request...
"Since our Annual Plan is significantly discounted from our Monthly Plans and is a commitment from you and Pictory, we don’t currently offer refunds."
I guess it doesn't matter if you're an unsatisfied customer, pictory is "committed" to keeping your money.

I've been using pictory from 4 months to make faceless videos. In being I faced many issues with this tool to make high quality visuals and voiceovers and sometimes it took so much time to load files. However, after a month I saw some improvement in voiceovers and visuals. But still videos I wanted to generate was not satisfying and convincing. So i didn't continued upgrading further.

Bad Experience
I subscribed for one month and started creating videos. After a couple of videos, I encountered a technical issue. The video preview in the storyboard was completely dark, and even when previewing the video, it remained dark, making it impossible to create any content, cut scenes, etc.
I tried to fix the issue by changing videos and checking online for solutions, but nothing worked, so I contacted customer support. Unfortunately, I was effectively abandoned twice. With a monthly subscription, waiting more than two days for support is unacceptable.
On 26/12, I contacted customer support.
On 02/01, Dhruv replied by email, asking me to confirm which project had the issue. I replied the same day.
On 09/01, after receiving no answer or solution and being under pressure to create videos for my work, I contacted customer support again. Rae replied the same day, asking me to share one of the videos affected by the issue, which I did.
On 16/01, having received no response at all, I decided to cancel the subscription.
I have to say that the library of voices and visuals is nice. The platform does have some limitations, but honestly, these would be very easy to avoid or improve.
If you never face any issues and only want to create videos using pre-made visuals and AI, it might work for you.
But if you do run into a problem, good luck.
For me, $49 thrown in the bin.

Excellent customer support!
The product itself is great and works exactly as promised. In the end, I realized that I don’t really need it for my current business, but what truly stood out was the outstanding customer support.
The team was fast, friendly, and very accommodating, offering a fair and helpful solution regarding the refund. This level of professionalism and customer care is rare.
Thank you to the Pictory team — highly recommended!

Pls add more real visual videos and photos and help us reduce the subscription, it seems too high

At first, I was skeptical of Pictory. A few nights ago, I decided to give Pictory another chance. I learned how to use it better.
Pictory is additive.
The scene editor, etc., is very easy to use.
The Visual feature has really high quality videos and a great variety to choose from.
The only thing I wish they would add is a way to easily find a previous video/image in Visuals.
The Add to Favorite feature appears not to work.
I would also like it if every image/video in a scene would display an identifier in the timeline. This way if I have one I wish to use in other videos, I could just search for the identifier in Visuals to find it again.
Overall, Pictory is not quite perfect, and I will investigate further.
On the whole, I am very satisfied.

Pictory has a remarkably low learning curve. The interface feels simple and intuitive, even if you have little or no video editing experience. What would normally take hours or even days can often be finished in minutes, because the automation takes care of much of the repetitive, manual work.

Used the demo with watermark, liked how it worked. So I decided to purchase the paid pro version. After paying I noticed it is still showing up as free trial in my account. It has been 5 days the issue is still not fixed. I sent several emails and all i get is an automated reply we will respond in 1 business day. The customer service is practically non existent. They have an auto chatbot in their website and call that their customer support! No phone number, no real agents. I do not recommend!

I don't understand all the negative reviews. I've used pictory for a couple years now and they are constantly updating the software and I've always had great response when I had any issue.
I was comparing this company with another I am contemplating to see how the reviews compare, and it's very comparable so I am going to purchase the other as well, since pictory is great!
For those who want real thoughts: Yes, the AI rarely creates scenes without needing editing but the tools make video creation so much faster and easier than I could ever do on my own that it's definitely an A+!

Its quick at creating a video script from the prompts I give it, but the quality and in particular the relevance of the video clips leaves a lot to be desired. always wrong.

It has been a great experience, I am a teacher and with Pictory I was able to create amazing visuals and videos that my student memorise much better. The database is huge and images and AI voices are really wonderful

I tested other products but pictory, by far, is the easiest and user friendly video making program that I found. Has all the features that I was looking for. Does have a couple of minor glitches, but the support people are quick to answer and resolve.
