Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 410 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers found the website to be a horrible dating site, especially since it changed owners, and felt it was a waste of time and money due to numerous fake profiles and misleading practices. People frequently encountered issues with the subscription model, describing it as having hidden charges and an inability to cancel automatic renewals. The user experience was often criticized for being buggy, with messages disappearing and a general lack of functionality that made connecting with others difficult. Some people were dissatisfied with the social media aspect, noting that many profiles were inactive or filled with generic, unappealing content, and that the platform did not effectively filter out users who were not genuinely interested in connecting. The pricing was also a common point of contention, with many feeling that the costs were excessive for the poor quality of service and that the site used misleading offers.

About Plenty of Fish Dating

Written by the company

Logo

The Plenty of Fish story begins all the way back in the distant year of 2003 when it laid down its roots as the first free online dating site. POF believes that building a community where people feel free to be themselves, helps create the most meaningful connections. Every day, Plenty of Fish helps people find their blanket thief, Ikea sherpa, personal spider hunter…you get the point.

POF has always been true to itself, allowing members to choose their own path to connection on the app and matching members based on the things that ultimately make for real, long-lasting love. That’s why Plenty of Fish was the first dating app to ditch face filters. People can feel free to just be themselves. No pressure, just real connections.

CAN'T SEE LIKES followed by an empty…

CAN'T SEE LIKES followed by an empty profile. That's all I saw time after time...

What's the point in joining up if you can't be bothered to tell people even basic information about yourself?

Nobody seems to give a damn about creating a good first impression or trying to be a nice person.

There's a reason this site is free

Misery loves company

By the time you've filtered out all those with red flags, baggage and issues, there are very few worth messaging.

The ones who contacted me were the most uninspiring and unpleasant set of people I've seen. Composing a sentence which said more than just 'hi' was too much for most of them.

There's a huge difference between how good the women on POF think they are and how good they actually are. Most are them come across as very bitter.

You will need to be very fortunate indeed to find someone decent on there

Ps having the conversation starter: 'How amazing my children are.' isn't really that appealing to most men

Horrible Rude People

This site was worse than I Imagined . Everyone on there has a really bad attitude problem. It's just a collection of misfits and undateables acting real picky

How many times can you read the same things over and over before you lose interest ??

Lazy headlines all over the shop. "My children will always come first" "I can't see likes" and "Just ask" everywhere you look.
Give me a break
Don't they realize everyone says the same thing or don't they care?

Doesn't even warrant 1 *

It was good once upon a time. Not now.

20 years ago, POF kind of worked and I seem to remember it was free to use. Then it became a paid site and the quality tanked. It's hideously expensive, full of fake and old/unused profiles and generally a waste of time.

POF is the worst

This dating app's customer service is absolutely terrible. It's impossible to reach anyone to delete or cancel a subscription. It feels like they intentionally make it difficult to keep raking in your money. Most users seem to be fake scammers or people looking for money. I wouldn't recommend this dating site or any of its affiliated companies to anyone. Be cautious of fake profiles across various platforms. Many accounts seem to be AI or bots. To cancel my subscription, I had to report my card as lost to my bank to stop the money flow. Trust me, this place is awful.

Scammers

I'm on plenty of fish and I was talking to a few people. I had one person in particular that started love bombing me sending me hearts and faces with heart eyes and telling me he was thinking about me every morning and every night. And he never met me he didn't know me and it was kind of creepy so I had to block him and just now I was talking to somebody else and he wanted my phone number i'm like I would like to keep it on here till I know you better he blocked me. It's like you have so many fake profiles and so many scammers the minute they want to move it off of plenty of fish and get your phone number and stuff that's a red flag. Because you should keep it on plenty of fish so they don't have your phone number. But this person blocked me . I'm not giving any but my phone number that I don't feel comfortable with. The last person I did that to was getting creepy. This is such a scam site fake profiles fake pictures fake intentions!!!?

Save your money!

It's as bad or worse than other sites like theirs. For starters, women have turned it into a fat, divorced, bitter, selfish women looking to get married! Women don't reply and they want to charge me $20 a week to see likes! They recommend either photos of 9's and 10's (who I'll bet are scammers) or they show me women in other countries, trannys, gay men, prostitutes, OF girls looking for customers, women with 3 or 4 accounts with different cities on each, or women with 1 or no photos of themselves!
The free version is you can see most photos, send 1 message and to someone. For women it's like a catalog, for men it's like applying for a job you probably aren't going to get.
80% of women all go for 4% of the men on these sites, 3 out of 4 dates set up will no show, women will use camera angles, lighting or filters to disguise their appearance, women's profiles are a list of demands, tool wagging or incredibly generic. Most female profiles are looking for a husband (with deep pockets). The site seems incredibly antiquated and abandoned by anyone who gave a shit!

An old fashioned scam

You pays your fee. Then guess what? It's another fee to see who has liked you. And another fee to reply to them. Oh, and another fee to see if they've replied. Oh, and, the profiles are fake. I 'corresponded' with one home counties lady whose only response was ENGLISH UNDERSTAND. Guess what? No she didn't. Avoid this scam. Do NOT give them your money.

Out of control egos

One of the main issues with this site is the females have the egos and attitude of the supermodel a perfect 10, but the looks and personality of a 3. If they're as hot as they think they are why are they single??

95% of them are single mums who cant wait to tell you their children are their world and will always come first.

I only wanted someone who didn't have children, reasonably attractive with a nice personality but it was an impossible task

Scam app that pushes manufactured likes…

Scam app that pushes manufactured likes from people that don't even like you. Went months with no likes , decided to pay a week and literally got 20 likes the first day.. none responded to my messages... Cancelled the subscription and still, literally at 20 likes from when I paid... This should be illegal, don't we have consumer protection anymore?

The women all want someone who is tall…

The women all want someone who is tall dark handsome and cultured who must be in great shape and they refuse to compromise

That would work if they were okay themselves but the problem is they are all the exact opposite. Most are not very nice, they are short and out of shape. Lots of them smoke and don't look after themselves. Most come across as very conceited and lack decorum.

How can you possibly expect someone gorgeous if you're not gorgeous yourself? It's not rational to think you can get someone so far out your league.

It just shows why online dating is a total waste of time.
