Possibly the worst customer service…

Possibly the worst customer service I’ve encountered. Months ago we made 3 out of 4 travel books for our trip through India Indonesia and New Zealand. The 4th book does not load, we can’t edit it or finish it. Numerous emails to customer service have been ignored or replied to with short irrelevant messages and now we are nearly in April and our travel books for our trip last winter 2024/25 incomplete. Useless

Hi Michele, thanks for your feedback and sorry to hear about this! That’s definitely not the experience we want, especially that your 4th Travel Book isn’t loading and you haven’t heard back from us.

I had a look but unfortunately couldn’t find any previous messages on your name, so we'd love to check if we're receiving your messages correctly. Could you please send us a new message via support.polarsteps.com/contact and include your trip link and a screenshot of the issue? We'd love to have a closer look with you.

Thanks for your patience, and we hope to hear from you!

Polarsteps is the best to keep a daily journal of your voyage

Polarsteps is very nice to upload photo's and short video's from locations you are traveling to. People you allow can follow your voyage and see the highlights of your trip. Making a book afterwards is a bit challenging but worth the effort because in the end you have a beautiful journal of your voyage.

A free, user-friendly app to track and share your adventures, with the option to create high quality photobooks of those special memories.

The Polarsteps app is free and easy to use. I had tried others, but the ability to track and share your trip in real time with followers, with no limit on text, photos & short videos was the deciding factor for me. It has numerous useful features and can be used with automated tracking, or you can do it manually as you go along - even after the trip if you missed a step. The app is free as the company make their money from selling you the photobook afterwards. This hardback book is printed on quality paper and the photographs look amazing. You choose your own cover photo and title and can arrange your photos to your own liking, making some as full-page spreads and others in groups. The information (date, location, altitude, weather, etc) and my own narrative is well presented at the start of each step. We had been on a 6-week trip to Aotearoa/New Zealand and I had no problem creating the largest possible book: 398 pages! It's a huge volume that makes a fantastic 'coffee table' book for guests to browse through. I wish I'd known about Polarsteps earlier - we've done many trips that this format would be perfect to capture for posterity. I will definitely be using the app again to share our adventures in real-time and to create permanent memories of our future adventures.

Very bad print quality of Travel Book

We ordered a travel book (86€), but the print quality was very disappointing.

The original photos we uploaded were high quality, yet in the final book they appeared to be heavily downscaled, resulting in blurry and low-quality prints.

After contacting customer service, we received a reprint. I explained that the problem likely originates from the book creation tool compressing the images, and indeed this book was of very bad quality aswel. I have never received a follow-up response from their customer service.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. They have put up their prices up and even if you delete some photos the same is still the same. They printed a date over someone’s face on the front cover & told me it was my fault as I should have checked it. They have refused to re-print it for me even though they know how unhappy I am!

Dear Deb,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear that your Travel Book’s cover didn’t turn out as you hoped. We understand how disappointing this must have been, and this is not the experience we wanted you to have.

We understand that pricing changes can be frustrating. Our prices are based on factors such as page count, binding type, and quantity, and only change when a book moves into a different range.

Regarding the cover design, our books are printed to match the preview you see before ordering. We truly understand that mistakes can happen, and we’re sorry this caused frustration. While we're unable to offer a free reprint, we’ve provided a loyalty voucher as a gesture of goodwill. We understand this isn’t the outcome you were hoping for, and we’re happy to answer any questions you may have.

Excellent way of recording trips

We have been using PS for 5 years, most recently for a campervan trip in France and Spain. It is a very easy way of sharing journeys with friends, tracking and recording our travels. The travel books are of very high quality, delivered very quickly and will provide wonderful memories to look back on.

Dear Marion,

Thanks for your feedback, and we’re sorry this issue has been affecting your experience for so long. We understand it’s frustrating when your cruise tracking doesn’t look the way it should.

The lines you see come from Travel Tracker steps recorded incorrectly. On cruise ships, phones may use the ship’s WiFi instead of GPS, and since the WiFi is usually registered at a port, your location can appear there even while you’re at sea. Unfortunately, we can’t adjust trips from our side, but you can fix this by deleting the incorrect steps (the white dots) directly in the app.

We know this isn’t ideal, and we really appreciate your feedback, which has been shared with our Product team. If you experience any issues while deleting the incorrect Travel Tracker steps , feel free to reach back out to our team with a screen-recording, and we’ll gladly guide you through it. Thanks again for your patience and if you have other questions, feel free to let us know.

Prefer to use website, but am being forced to get the app.

I have been following a friend on PolarSteps for a few years, on the website, which has been good. It keeps, however, trying to force me to install the app to continue doing so, and I don't want the App. This is frustrating--I don't want the app out of privacy concerns and also because of the battery power it constantly uses. As of today, I can see only the name of my friend's current trip and am directed to the app to see the actual post.
