Rotten company

Rotten company. in game experience terrible, with shocking referees, and dangerous play not being resolved. The office must be run by a bunch of kids, 0 organisation, charging for games that weren't played, and bullying tactics when it comes down to supposed money owed, and also taking money without consent. When I queried money owed, I was ignored, and then had debt collectors sending me letters, and would only speak via them. I sent all the proof needed that the money they were after was not accurate, and proof that they had charged for games they weren't played, and them admitting this. But still ignored all these facts and continued with solicitors. In the end I paid the small amount they were after because I couldn't be bothered with the aggravation (I think they know this) even though im 100% sure they are wrong. Absolute scum

Feels like a loan shark operation with a football pitch attached

We joined a local 7 a side league thinking it would be a laugh. A bit of fun with the lads on a Thursday night. What we got instead felt like an episode of Crimewatch. After one match we were threatened by another team who told us they would stab and kill a couple of us. They even said they knew where we played and would find us. Naturally we didn’t want to stick around for that sequel.

Here’s the twist. Because we didn’t want to risk being hunted down over a game of football, Powerleague decided we now owe them £2,200. Apparently once you sign up you’re paying for the season no matter what. Think Netflix, but instead of cancelling your subscription you’re being chased by debt collectors because you didn’t fancy being stabbed during episode two.

No safeguarding. No understanding. Just a relentless money grab. They’ll smile when you sign up but once you’re in, it’s like dealing with a payday loan company that also happens to own a set of goalposts.

Avoid Powerleague unless you fancy paying premium rates for the most dangerous game of 7 a side you’ll ever play.

Awful

Awful, awful company. Like others on here, I'm dealing with the stress of having debt collectors contact me for money owed, when this had been paid for months ago. Their systems are clearly incompetent, as members of staff have different information each time you're lucky enough to actually speak to someone. If this process ends up affecting my credit score then I'll be pursuing things further.

Appaling service

Appaling service. Incompetent staff and processes.

Despite paying off a debt months ago and speaking to multiple staff members to confirm, Powerplay didn't register it on their system. I've since been contacted by the debt collection company Icon. I asked Powerplay for a confirmation email and called different staff but none have responded, leaving me to deal with the issue.

Absolutely shocking

Joined the warrington league, the referee never turns up, the venue was never booked and the teams never came. Absolutely shocking, no organisation whatsoever

id give them no stars if I could.

id give them no stars if I could.
money grabbers, LADS, DO NOT JOIN THIs LEAGUE. totally overpriced for starters, they've got poor facilities, terrible refs, they make up rules as they go. the people making the rules have never played the game. ive heard of the no over head height rule, standard stuff, but in my 30 odd years of playing football ive never heard of a rule that states, 'if the ball comes off the keeper and goes overhead, the ball goes back to the defending side' this gives a clear advantage to the defending team for no reason at all. we tried to complain, but the refs weren't interested and those who make the rules only contact you when they need their money. pretty much every team we spoke to about this rule hated it but they wouldn't change it. To top it off, we've been decimated with injuries (common for plus 30 year olds) and we've had to cancel, we've given ample notice and still the threats of debt collection agencies loom. ive played in many 5 a side and 7 a side leagues and ive never had any of them pursue us so aggressively for money. you run a football league guys, its not that deep, no one needs bailiffs knocking on their door over a few games of football, maybe if you spent more time looking for new teams rather than selling debts to collection agencies, you'd fill the slots.

Power play does some shady stuff I…

Power play does some shady stuff I signed up a long time ago and recently I just put 15 bucks on so they gave me seven dollar bonus and I started playing and then I couldn’t play another game because I had to play with my bonus money but I lost it but I still had 15 but I couldn’t play because I had a bonus so I cancelled that and then all of a sudden I had another bonus for 15. I asked him why oh that’s because you had a third deposit bonus, which I didn’t opt in for I opt in for a small bonus so I cancelled one didn’t give me another one with the same deposit to me. That’s some shady stuff I wouldn’t recommend this site to nobody so don’t they do some shady stuff and they say oh no it’s not shady, but it is and after I cancelled my bonuses, I lost every bet I’ve put in in on every other game that I played after I told him that was shady FYI that’s some shady stuff

Money-grabbing charlatans

Money-grabbing charlatans, looking to turn a hefty profit by scamming their customers. Poor facilities, provide unreliable referees and don't let you leave the league without threatening to get debt collectors involved. Say they can sort ringers but never do. Have no interest in providing a good service for their customers.

Loved playing in the league and will definitely play again in the near future. Unfortunately, our team couldn’t commit to the full season financially. So, the Powerplay staff really helped us out by finding a replacement within weeks. During that time, instant & clear communication. I’ve played in a lot of 6 a side leagues and this was my favourite experience in one

Best Football Leagues/ Tournaments in London

I've joined two Powerplay leagues as an individual this year and couldn't recommend them enough! As a result, I now have two regular teams that I play and socialise with, and have met loads of great people. Charlotte has brought both my teams together and continues to be so so helpful in keeping in contact about tournaments, new leagues and free pitches and has made the Powerplay experience great. The organisation of the matches has been seamless (I've played in Aldgate East and Old Street leagues), and I would recommend it to anyone thinking of joining!

Don’t join PowerPlay

Don’t join PowerPlay, refs don’t watch the game. Won’t replace you when teams request to join. Still charge you when games are called off and won’t discuss matters with you.

DO NOT JOIN POWERPLAY

£40 a game NOT WORTH IT.

Great experience but sounds like it depends on the league you get

Looking at the reviews here I think it depends on the league you get, as my experience has been brilliant.

I've been playing small-sided football in London for almost 15 years now and Powerplay have been one of the best league managers I've had.

When our Kings Cross Calthorpe Gardens league closed down, Powerplay took over the pitch and running of the league.

They have an efficient service, website and payment methods, as well as speedy delivery of the trophies and medals when Pitchside Nomads won the league.

Our regular referee was great, though when unavailable his replacements weren't as good - might be an idea to draft up the exact rules of the pitch to distribute to every new referee before a game to avoid confusion.

Tash, our league manager, was communicative and helpful whenever we had an issue (not often). I'd recommend getting in touch directly with your league manager as Powerplay is a massive org so any complaints might get lost in the system.

All in all, if you're in London, Calthorpe Gardens is the league you want!

What a complete joke of an…

What a complete joke of an organisation.
Our first week there, watching the matches before our game we witnessed a player get punched in the face right in front of the referee and he did nothing about it and let the game play on. On the other pitch, I couldn't see if they had a referee. Turns out it was a kid on the sideline watching the man United game on his phone.
2nd week our referee punched a player on our opponents team and the game was abandoned as a result.
We was told he would never be a referee for them again. The guy running it told me he has complaints about him every week and he would never be back.
3 weeks later he's back, still up to his mouthy tricks arguing with players and people on the sidelines that would question his awful skills and bad attitude.
1 week, we witnessed a fight between a player and another player from the next match. 1 of the lads got 3 friends with baseball bats to come and smash the other lad up and threaten anyone that said anything with the bats as well. Weirdly, the lad that organised the thugs with bats was playing the next week. The lad that probably had stitches in a big gash to his head was kicked out of the league.
The Oakengates league on a Thursday evening is an absolute joke and needs to be avoided, the lad that organised the games is a gutless liar and the refs are the worst I've seen in 25 years playing football.
The league also break GDPR laws regarding your details which they will soon be getting a solicitor letter about.

Awful value for money

Awful value for money. Referee doesn’t watch matches properly and is only interested in his own ego. This is a good week - they sometimes don’t even turn up on time and you still have to pay triple the going rate (upwards of £15 per player) for a 30 minute match. Please do yourself a favour and avoid this money grabbing company at all costs before you get signed up for a whole league season.

Is this even an organisation?

So unclear how this system is supposed to work. I signed up a while ago to join a local netball league and the only time they communicate with me (maybe once every 4 months) is when they need an extra player for a match... And it seems like there's not actually a way to join a team or a league. It's so strange I don't even know if it's actually an organisation?

AVOID… Disgusting company

Disgusting company. Do not enter any of their leagues. Terribly run, officiating is dreadful, management is worse, so incompetent it’s not worth wasting a minute on their pitches. Go with a reputable company, they are the lowest of the low.
