Watch Out for Additional Fee for Un-Clean Apartment

Rented an apartment in Leeds recently that is owned by this company. Difficult to find and enter, building covered in scaffolding and staff difficult to speak to. Had to pay an additional £100 for access, apparently as a pre-authorisation, but cashed anyway. Apartment dreadful, not cleaned, no clean linen or towels and inhabitable. Had to find alternative accommodation. Dreadful.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING PALCE AND BEHAVIOUR

After having another booking cancelled last minute, we had to urgently find alternative accommodation late at night while travelling up to Leeds from the South — a five-hour journey for us. We booked your property as a last-minute option, believing it would be a comfortable, higher-end place to stay for my husband’s birthday weekend. Although it was slightly above our intended budget, we were reassured by the listing and decided to go ahead, paying approximately £465 in total (including deposits & Pre authorisation ).

Upon arrival, we immediately encountered several issues. The exterior of the building was completely covered in scaffolding, making it difficult to locate the entrance, especially in the dark. Once inside, the building smelled unpleasant, and the general condition was uninviting.

When we reached our floor, there were extremely loud neighbours having what seemed to be a party. Upon attempting to enter our unit, we discovered that the key was not under the mat as instructed, and there was a lockbox with no access code provided. We had to contact the host via WhatsApp and wait some time before receiving the code.

When we finally entered the apartment, we were horrified to find that the property had not been cleaned and appeared to have been recently occupied. The balcony door was open, the room smelled strongly of smoke, and there was food, rubbish, and dirty dishes left everywhere. We recorded a video of the entire scene as evidence.

After contacting the host again, we were told that we would be relocated to another property. By this time, it was nearly midnight, it was raining, and we were exhausted.

The second property was only marginally better and still unacceptable. Upon entering, we found a large sofa blocking the hallway, the toilet flush was broken (requiring us to reach inside a hole in the wall to manually trigger a sharp Plastic switch), and there were no towels or toilet roll provided — which we eventually located in a cupboard behind the sofa. The washing machine contained a wet duvet, and none of the TVs worked (no remotes, no signal). The balcony overlooked scaffolding and what appeared to be a construction/Concreated area.

The only redeeming feature was that the bed appeared clean, which was the sole reason we stayed — purely out of necessity, given the late hour and lack of alternatives and funds.

This entire ordeal caused significant stress, inconvenience, and disappointment, particularly as it was meant to be a special weekend. We feel that we were misled by the listing and that the accommodation provided was not fit for purpose.

The response we received after complaining was absolutely disgusting. We then received a £100 parking fine for the "FREE PARKING" and have still not received our £100 deposit back

Honest Review of Prime Doorstep

Honest Review of Prime Doorstep

Unfortunately, our experience with Prime Doorstep has been extremely disappointing, and we would strongly recommend avoiding this property and any others managed by the same company.

From the outset, we faced multiple issues, including essential appliances not working, and a complete lack of communication or support. Despite repeated attempts to contact the property by phone, email, and through Booking.com, messages went unanswered, or were only vaguely responded to through booking.com without any real resolution.

When maintenance concerns were raised, they were either dismissed or ignored entirely. On one occasion, the property even suggested that the guest attempt repairs themselves, something that is both inappropriate and unsafe.

Due to the ongoing lack of action and the poor condition of the property, we ultimately had no choice but to remove the guest and relocate them to alternative accommodation to ensure their safety and wellbeing.

This experience has been stressful and time-consuming for everyone involved, and it highlights serious concerns about the company’s approach to property management and guest care.

We sincerely hope that by sharing this review, others will avoid the same frustration and disappointment we experienced. There are many professional and responsive accommodation providers out there - unfortunately, Prime Doorstep is not one of them.

AVOID at all costs

AVOID at all costs! I paid £225 for 2 nights. And £25 for early check in. Upon arrival I was met by the whole block covered in scaffolding which took me 30mins to get in to the building. I was given instructions prior that the key would be under the mat. Which it wasn’t, it is in a lock box. I emailed the host who replied giving me the code.

Upon entering I was met with the toilet blocked with feces and would not flush, the toilet was broken. The bed was unmade and had previously been slept in. The bins were not emptied and dirty towels in the bathroom. It was clear the apartment had not been cleaned after the previous guests. Also they were workmen right outside the window and extremely noisy. (This was not mentioned before hand.)

I contacted the host ASAP via email, phone and through booking.com. All were unanswered. I also took pictures of the property and submitted them to him. I waited at the property for 30 mins in hope that I would hear back and hopefully be moved to an other apartment. But I heard nothing back. Which was suspicious as I only emailed him 10 mins before about the key and got a reply.

I had to leave the apartment as I could not stay there. I have since tried to contact the host and again I have had no response.

I also lost out on £50 with Ubers to and from the property. I have since raised it with booking.com and they have tried to contact him and again no response from him.

I have lost out on a total of £300 and I had to cancel all my plans. I will be seeking legal action as I I have been scammed. I didn’t even stay at the property.

Please avoid at a costs if you want to save yourself loads of hassle and regret.

Absolutely dreadful from start to…

Absolutely dreadful from start to finish!

Incredibly rude host from the off. All the details had been sent to a different email not the one provided to Booking.com. Had to ring for over an hour before getting through when I eventually did I was met on the ever end by a very rude man who’s been mentioned in previous reviews. I had to plead with him to let us in and to forward the email to one I had provided to booking.com, he was very reluctant and rude about this. I had already waited outside for a good 45 minutes prior to this trying to contact host. I was travelling with a small child in a pram, and we had an event to be at the First direct Arena, we made this aware to host and that us been unable to get in touch and not receiving the email was eating up time we didn’t have and a baby that was becoming inpatient.

Upon opening the door to the lobby, you was instantly met by smashed glass and a smell of cannabis. Then found our way to the lift corridor to find the lift was out of order.

This was incredibly inconvenient with a pram and a small child, of which we did put on the booking and I booked it as the listing said lift access. We eventually carried a large pram up several flights of stairs to get to the apartment, making it incredibly inconvenient if we where to want to take our child anywhere over our stay.

There was a musky smell to the carpet on the stair way, like spilled larger. The floor clearly hadn’t been hovered and only 2 out of the 3 beds were made up.

At this point I didn’t see the point in contacting the host as I’d already had one rude encounter with him, and I didn’t want to ruin my night with my family at the arena that’s close by.

The floors where filthy, my child’s knees where black from crawling about, clearly hadn’t been mopped or swept in weeks, dirty dishes left in the dishwasher from previous occupants.

Overall awful stay, not worth it pay the extra £50 and stay at the Hilton that’s 30seconds away, as it ends up been more because they’ll make up stuff to justify keeping your £200 deposit. Luckily banks and booking.com happy to help with chargebacks given substantial prove I have against the lying hosts claims.

Prime Doorstep = Scum - its not surprising given the ownership

Very foolish of me not to read previous reviews but didn't think it was necessary for an overnight stay in McClure House, Leeds, LS10 1LR, United Kingdom, for our daughters graduation.
Communication with them is a joke.
We got locked in our bedroom due to a faulty door latch.
Paid for a locksmith to get us out only to be told it was our fault.
Made an over payment of £200 by mistake.

Primedoorstep is now ignoring emails so having to get the bank involved.

Avoid at All Costs – Deceptive Hosts, Certainly not Luxury and Withheld Payments

We booked this apartment for a one-night stay to attend our daughter’s graduation. From the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing and completely at odds with the so-called “luxury apartment” listing.

On entering the building, we were met with filthy communal areas, stained and sticky carpets, dirty walls, and litter strewn throughout the hallway. While the block management may be responsible for communal maintenance, this does not excuse the misleading listing, which failed to mention the utterly grim state. It did not, by any measure, feel like we were entering quality accommodation.

The apartment itself was, at best, mediocre. It was superficially clean but lacked any real sense of style or comfort, certainly not luxurious, and frankly, a bit tacky. That aside, what truly shocked us was discovering wet towels placed, nicely rolled and on both beds. These towels were straight from the washing machine, soaking wet and not spun properly. This resulted in both beds having damp patches where they had been placed. Why anyone would think that’s an acceptable presentation is beyond comprehension.

Still, we didn't travel down from London just to argue over towels; we made the most of our trip and enjoyed celebrating in Leeds. However, the following morning became a nightmare.

After a night out, we returned and went to bed. Upon closing the bedroom door, we unknowingly locked ourselves in due to a faulty handle and mechanism. In the morning, we realised the door wouldn’t open, not from the inside or outside. My mother, who was staying in the apartment with us, also tried from the outside and could not free us.

With a train to catch and no response whatsoever from the host, despite repeated attempts, we had no choice but to call a locksmith at our own cost of £65 to be released.

To make matters worse, when we finally did get a response to both the photographic and video evidence, his response was to deny any issue with the door, insisting it worked fine and that “no one else has had problems.” He implied we had caused the issue ourselves. Frankly, it was insulting; it was implied we went out of our way to fabricate evidence of being locked in a room, call a locksmith and potentially miss a train all for fun.

There was no apology, no offer to refund the locksmith fee, and absolutely no acknowledgement of the inconvenience or danger of being trapped in a room.

On top of this, my husband accidentally paid for the apartment twice. We contacted the host immediately to request that the duplicate payment be refunded, along with our security deposit and the locksmith cost. Unsurprisingly, we have been met with complete silence. No responses, no updates and like many reviews before us have noted, our contact at Prime Doorstep has now vanished.

To date, we have:

Not had our deposit returned

Not been refunded the duplicate payment

Not been reimbursed for the locksmith

Received zero communication from the host

We’ve had to raise a formal dispute with our bank to recover the duplicate charge and I will also be reporting this matter to Action Fraud, as the conduct here is not just negligent, it is verging on criminal.

We are not people who take to writing negative reviews lightly. We normally go out of our way to resolve matters privately and amicably. But in this case, the lack of accountability, the shockingly poor customer service, and the unacceptable withholding of our money leaves me with no other option but to warn others.

Be very cautious of the positive reviews, the host's lack of transparency, the unsanitary condition of the building, and the complete absence of professionalism should be enough to give any potential guest serious pause.

I sincerely hope this review prevents others from being misled, overcharged, and treated with the same disregard we’ve experienced.

Honestly the apartment and everything…

Honestly the apartment and everything was perfect clean and good facilities. Its a real shame as the management and customer service is appalling really bad and for that reason I 100%would not recommend. I paid PAID £150 RETURNABLE DEPOSIT! as it states when booking. I stayed on the 2nd off June and was told me DEPOSIT will be credited back to me within 7-10 working days! 30th of June and im still waiting after getting rude emails replied back to me then just ignored it phone up to be told I don't know what am on about they don't have my money and laughing down the phone. As I say management and staff are a joke put the phone down on me and now won't answer all over £150 they have stolen! Its ok I'll have the last laugh. How they still operate when talking and treating customers with that amount off disrespect is beyond me. I wouldn't book with these ever again and certainly would NOT recommend. Unless you like having you money taking and spoke to like rubbish if thats the case you'd love these guys Honestly they are the best at been rude to customers and robbing you
