We had am amazing experience with our midwife Aleanbh. She was kind & warm and supported us throughout pregnancy, labour, birth & postpartum.
We felt informed, cared for & supported.
Continuity of care made a huge difference to my experience as well as having someone build my confidence after a traumatic first birth (emergency section)
Our second midwife was also an important part of our experience and we are so happy we were able to birth our baby at home with midwives that knew us and that we trusted.

We opted to go ahead with Private Midwives due to moving into a new area at around 6 months off pregnancy and wanted a ‘familiar face’ by our side. We began with a phone call with Nash and instantly knew this would be our midwife going forward.
Nash was so friendly and welcoming we knew we would be in safe hands. Her attention to detail was second to none and I felt extremely comfortable. She was always on hand to answer any questions throughout my journey and was an essential part to PP recovery. I can not express how reassuring it was to have Nash by my side during my birth experience.
Nash’s knowledge, experience and communication really helped me and my OH feel comfortable and she made sure he was informed of everything that was happening during the labour particularly when docs didn’t have a moment to explain and caused him worry. Nash quickly calmed him down and she knew if he was calm I would be too (this is something that was priceless to us).
I really hope that many other ‘mother-to-bes’ get to experience her care the way me and my baby did, our journey wouldn’t have been the same without her, we would choose to work with her again in a heartbeat if we had the privilege.

Our midwife, Emma, was wonderful from the start and we feel very lucky that she was assigned to us. I immediately felt at ease with Emma and she was kind, caring and a huge support throughout making my experience of pregnancy and birth of my second child complete opposite (better!) to my first. The office team at Private Midwives were also all very helpful and supportive.

Having heard how understaffed, busy and rushed public midwifery services might get in London nowadays, we have decided to opt for a home birth for more holistic, peaceful and individualised experience, which proved to be the best decision ever!
We were extremely fortunate to have the most amazing, knowledgeable, friendly, kind, caring, supportive, helpful and thorough midwife, Julia Melinek, on our journey, who always had a plan B (or C!!) for everything, in case things do not go our way. The level of care, support and reassurance provided by Julia was simply outstanding, second to none. I knew that my baby and myself were in the safest hands possible at every step of my pregnancy.
Apart of all the amazing qualities Julia has as a person, and being so friendly and easy going, which is imperative to have in order to be such an amazing midwife, she is also incredibly professional.
Julia respected all our customs and beliefs, be it religious or medical. She would provide us with all the information, yet, would not pressure into anything that we would not feel comfortable with. I felt heard and respected throughout the whole time.
Julia was also not intrusive or judgmental at all.
If we had any questions or concerns at any time of the day or night, Julia was always ready to answer through the phone, messages, WhatsApp, or whatever was convenient for us. She never failed to respond straight away!
Postnatal care was absolutely exceptional as well! Julia went above and beyond supporting me and the baby after the birth.
She would always make sure that the timing is convenient for me in order for her to come and see us, or she would very gently check on me over the phone by simply writing a sweet and cheerful message :) Her kindness, compassion and genuine care really shined through!
Julia is very passionate about her job and accepts only the best outcome for mum and the baby, which made me feel very safe, supported and empowered during the actual labour. I would do it all over and over again, and give birth ten more times if I could with such an amazing midwife!!
We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to the whole amazing Private Midwives team, where all the people we came into contact with were simply the best, most kind, caring, friendly and polite ever!! (Trish Nolan-Melfi, Pat, Fiona, Nina)
All in all, I would wholeheartedly recommend Private Midwives to anyone, and would go for it again myself without thinking twice!

It's been ten months since my labour, and I finally found the courage to write a review. I still have trauma from my labour experience, but now I let the anger come out so that I can accept what happened and move on.
I know my labour was entirely my responsibility - from whom I chose to be with me to where and how it went. However, I genuinely believe that our midwife, Katie, did NOTHING in terms of helping with natural birth at home. I had a tough, exhausting labour that lasted around 24 hours, and all she did during this time was check the heartbeat of a baby without checking out on me. I felt as if I didn’t matter and didn’t feel supported by her at all, only by my husband, who didn’t have a clue what was going on.
We wanted a natural birth; however, we also expected if something did not go according to plan - if I would be dying of pain if, or if, after full dilation, the baby would not get out for five (!) hours and my partner and I would be completely exhausted, she would step in and at least transfer us to the hospital sooner than later.
However, all she did during these most prolonged 24 hours was check the heartbeat of our baby and journal everything in the corner of a room. At some point, when there was nothing left but to be transferred from home to the hospital, she did another check. To our surprise, she told us that our baby was not in the right position (although before, the position was correct) and asked me to do some crazy twisted poses in the middle of the contractions that felt so painful that I could not even find words to describe how I felt. Her last idea didn’t work, so we finally went to the hospital. Luckily, after we arrived at the hospital, the NHS team immediately came and helped our small one to be finally born. Another thing that exacerbated my traumatic experience was when Katie missed the birth infection and could diagnose it only at our third postpartum check-up in three weeks. However, I told her from week one that the stitches didn't look right, didn’t heal well, I could not walk and that there was an unusual smell. Her reply was - if there is an infection, I would have smelled it one meter from you... which is obviously not true. So only after I went to the emergency on Christmas Eve, they did all the checks, confirmed an infection and prescribed me an antibiotic, which helped.
After all this experience, I was so traumatised that I couldn't give honest feedback to the midwife directly or to Private Midwives. However, they didn't even ask for feedback; they only chased me to pay the outstanding amount...
Next time, instead of paying £5500 for a private midwife who helped us to get this traumatic experience, I would just go directly to NHS (they were very professional and compassionate) or just go private to the best birthing centre.
I hope that this experience won’t happen with anyone else and that instead of offering us the only available midwife, Private Midwives would improve and take on board more professional HOLISTIC midwives who don’t just journal the labour process but also know how to build a connection with the couple and make sure the pregnant woman feels comfortable.

This is my second time using private midwives for my pregnancy, birth and postnatal care. I would highly recommend every woman to have a private midwife! I was very fortunate to have the same midwife as last time which meant better continuity of care. The whole team are supportive and understand individualised care. I am truly grateful this service is available, thank you to you all. The whole team made sure I didn't feel alone in my journey and if I had any problems I knew I could just ring and talk.
There aren't any words to describe how grateful I am.

I am so so pleased I chose to have the private midwives team involved in my birth. The whole experience from beginning to end was second to none.
I was lucky enough to have Amie as my private midwife. I couldn’t fault her. She was there for my family and I every step of the way. I felt extremely comfortable and safe in her hands. Nothing was ever too much. Not only was she there for me professionally, but also personally as well. She got to know us as a family, our dynamics and worked around us; everything you would expect from a private midwife.
Whilst in the hospital, she advocated for me, pushed when needed and let my voice be heard. Without Amie, I would have had a completely different birth experience. She wasn’t afraid to push for what I wanted and backed my decisions. I honestly feel like I have made a friend for life. She is a beautiful person inside and out and we can’t thank her enough.

Julia supported me before and after the birth of my baby boy. She helped me with the birth plan, and her support and expertise during the first month was very helpful for myself and the baby especially me being first time mama. The only thing i regret, not booking the service for the actual birth. Thank you for your kindness and attentiveness.

I recently had the incredible experience of giving birth at home, supported by Julia Melinek, an absolutely amazing midwife. From the moment she arrived, Julia provided unwavering support and made me feel completely at ease. She truly listened to all my needs, respecting my birth plan while also offering expert advice and guidance when needed. I was worried about a second degree tear with my first baby and we were able to avoid this again with my second with Julia's support.
Throughout the entire process, Julia was calm, confident, and compassionate, creating a peaceful and empowering environment for the birth. She anticipated what I needed without me even having to ask, and her encouragement helped me feel strong and capable during every moment. Her professionalism was impeccable, but it was her warmth and genuine care that made the experience so special.
Julia went above and beyond to ensure that both my baby and I were safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to guide me through this life-changing moment. If you’re looking for a midwife who will offer exceptional service and be with you every step of the way, I cannot recommend Julia highly enough!

Our experience with Private Midwives was absolutely outstanding. The care we were given from the outset was second to none, and we truly felt that our midwives (Amie and Corrine) couldn’t do enough to make our experience as positive as possible. We felt that Amie really understood our birth plan, and went above and beyond to ensure the birth was everything we wanted it to be. From beginning to end we were treated with care, compassion and some much needed humour, and we will always be grateful for everything that was done for us. We would whole heartedly recommend Private Midwives to anyone! Thank you for everything.

Private Midwives accepted me as an external trainee for the tongue tie course. Sharon has been truly amazing, being flexible with the course. The support, guidance and teaching has been exemplary. I can’t thank Charlotte enough for teaching me the ropes and being able to put theory to practice. Thanks to Trish for putting me in touch with Sharon. I am now fully qualified as a tongue tie practitioner and am looking forward to working with the private midwives

We contacted private midwives as we wanted the best care for our first child. Having had a very difficult pregnancy with hyperemesis, low iron, carpal tunnel and gestational diabetes visiting a midwife was the last thing I was able to do and when I did I didn’t feel entirely happy with the care I received especially in the early days. We were then gifted some private care via relatives through private midwives and we were introduced to Emma Lawless.
Emma called me prior to her first visit for a little introduction into me and how my pregnancy was going and I told her everything that has been going on with my health and what I really needed in a Midwife- Emma was absolutely fantastic very understanding very professional highly trained and highly skilled. She understood that I hadn’t had an easy pregnancy and I needed care support at home
On her first visit we spent a lot of time talking about me and how I was and how she would progress with our care. Emma took down lots of notes and really took the time to understand what a pregnant woman needs especially as this was my first pregnancy not knowing what to expect and not expecting any of the symptoms I had
Her professional reassurance and the fact that she has a real human touch to being a midwife really put our minds at ease and made my Midwife visits not only a lot easier but actually pleasurable and nothing is too much trouble for Emma she’s always available for questions and get back to you very very quickly so you’re not waiting for an answer for ages, which is a huge thing when you’re not feeling well a lot of the time
During each visit Emma would ask how I was emotionally physically and mentally as it is a very important part of pregnancy and one that often gets ignored however Emma always asked and always make sure I was okay. We would then get onto a physical examination of my belly and we always got to listen to the baby‘s heartbeat, which is the best sound in the world. Emma would also check my blood pressure and watch out for pre-eclampsia and also do a urine test all in the comfort of my own home which was a big thing for me as I found leaving the house during the days really tough due to the excessive sickness
It became very clear to me earlier on the Emma was a first class Midwife and isn’t interested in how long something takes or how complex she only cares about the health of you and your baby which is unbelievably important and really puts your mind at rest that you’re in the best possible hands.
As well as some antenatal appointments, we also booked some after-care with Emma which was also very reassuring as she weighed our baby checked her over and checked me over after my c section - just having that familiarity makes such a difference when you’ve just had a baby and Emma really took the time to look after us, nothing is too much trouble.
As well as the visits it’s really important to know that Emma is available through WhatsApp or phonecall any time through the antenatal and post pregnancy care and she would always answer your questions fully and in detail leaving no stone unturned- all any new parent wants is a bit of reassurance and Emma really provides that with useful tips and information that we still use every day when caring for our daughter
Emma took full notes during each visit aswell to ensure continuity of care and that nothing was missed off and that we followed up on each query during every visit
Emma is a wonderful Midwife a true professional highly skilled and a wonderful human being cannot thank her enough for looking after us and cannot recommend her enough to anyone looking for some really good care during and post pregnancy. If you’re considering booking anyone for your pregnancy care I would recommend Emma all day every day- 5 stars isn’t enough we would give 5000 if we could ….thank you Emma for everything will never forget you and all you’ve done for us your are a real credit to yourself and the profession

Thank you so much. We asked Private Midwives for help after we read the CQC report for our maternity unit (rated inadequate) and decided we wanted the support of a private midwife as a birth partner at the labour. Remi was so calming and re-assuring in the lead up to, during and following labour. Having Remi alongside us put our minds at ease and meant I could focus on labour without worrying further about the CQC report and its contents. I also really appreciated having her on hand for queries in the run up to and following the birth. Thank you.

Where to start…Sally is a dear friend and former colleague. I am so lucky that now she has also been my midlife. I felt so safe and well cared-for through every stage of my pregnancy journey. Sally is truly wonderful. Sooooo kind and wise. Truly, I could not recommend her highly enough.

Sally is incredible
- we used sally midwife from private midwife’s for our planned home birth, and she was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble, her knowledge, intuition, and care is amazing and the whole experience was worlds away from the experience we had during nhs care.
I would not hesitate to use sally as our private midwife again, she truly is someone who cares deeply about the health of mothers and babies, and holds that front of mind with every interaction.

We’ve used Private Midwives in the past and recently for postpartum care after the birth of my third baby. Emma did visits and check ins for four weeks and was absolutely lovely, knowledgeable and caring. She was available on WhatsApp 24/7 during these first weeks with the new baby. Even with the third child, there are always questions and worries which she was able to answer and provide lots of reassurance. It was like a friend coming to visit with the medical knowledge and advice you need in such a vulnerable time. She joked around with our older kids, did all the checks with baby and supported me in my own recovery and was the best cheerleader. We’re sad the four weeks passed in the blink of an eye. I’d definitely recommend and would always book again.

Emma has been an amazing support and wealth of knowledge throughout our pregnancy journey. She has a beautiful soul and you can really appreciate she has a passion for her career.
As this was our first time having a baby we weren't sure what to expect. Going private we wondered if it would be worth the money. But knew we definitely had to look into something to support us which wasn't the NHS.
Emma was everything we wanted and more from this package, we would definitely ask for her again if we are to have more children in the future.
She is more than a midwife to us. She was a great support, amazing mentor and always showered us with love and care. Not to mention has a wicked sense of humour which we clicked with instantly.
Thank you so much Emma! We hope you keep in touch. We will miss your visits xx
Thank you so much 💓 it has been an amazing experience.

We visited Jayne for my little boys tongue tie, she was amazing! Felt comfortable as soon as we spoke to her and she put us at ease straight away. We went through with the procedure and so happy with the outcome. Would recommend to everyone!

I had a great experience with PMI. I felt cared for by my midwife, Sarah, from start to finish. She was my midwife on my first pregnancy too so the continuity of care from then to now was excellent. The PM team were also great from booking, to payment and communication.
Sarah was attentive, helpful and caring the whole way, giving great advice, resources and tips along the way. Couldn't fault it.
