Exam fee coverage is available as an optional add-on to our accident and illness policies. We structure it this way so policyholders have flexibility in selecting the level of coverage that best fits their needs and budget. Some pet parents prefer to keep premiums lower by covering exam fees out-of-pocket, while others choose to include the add-on for more comprehensive reimbursement.
Because coverage depends on the plan and options selected at enrollment, exam fees are reimbursable only when that add-on is active prior to treatment.

Prudent Pet Insurance
The customer service agent with whom I spoke when enrolling my new puppy in Prudent Pet insurance was extremely friendly and helpful. She returned my call in a timely manner, and because I have never purchased pet insurance before, she then helped me choose the levels I needed, even if it meant lowering the amount in one area where I didn’t require quite as much. After that, she enrolled my puppy herself since I’m not very comfortable with technology. I would certainly recommend Prudent Pet insurance without reservation. They are a supportive, caring group of people with whom to work.

I wasted over $2000 with this company paying my insurance every month and then I finally file a claim and they deny it for some bs reason I regret not using Trupanion I am canceling this company what a joke

Like most pet insurance policies, your coverage requires a completed veterinary exam within the 12 months prior to the policy start date. This requirement is outlined in the policy terms and helps establish your pet’s baseline health before coverage begins.
Because there was no exam on file within that required timeframe, the first veterinary visit we received had to be used as the baseline record. Under the policy terms, conditions noted at that visit are considered pre-existing, which means they are not eligible for coverage. For that reason, the claim could not be approved.
We understand this isn’t the outcome you were hoping for. however, claims must be processed according to the policy terms.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Our goal is always to make sure you feel informed and supported, even when a claim cannot be approved.
