Customer service is great

Customer service was great. The share screen feature was really helpful. A shout-out to Julia. She was knowledgeable, optimised the instructions by testing them in her system first, and then provided the right steps. She was super kind and precise.

Sole Trader VAT Registered for MTD

As a sole trader having to register for VAT and make MTS submissions for the first time the prospect was somewhat daunting!
My 45-60 minute session with Daneel was exceptionally helpful.
From a position of confusion he calmly walked me through everything I needed to know in terms of how to log transactions, link to HMRC Gateway for VAT and Self-Assessment, and many more helpful tips.
Within an hour he had moved me from a position of dread to a position of confidence!

Good only when it works

When it works it is good but it more than regularly fails to pull in and update the transactions/statements which is infuriating when you're trying to get your accounts done. Website is very clitchy at times! Won't even let me disconnect my bank to reconnect it now

Unable to Close an Account!

Whilst the onboarding meeting was good, I have been set up with 3 accounts but only required 2. The original sales person said just to 'hide' it. However, as expected I have been charged for 3 accounts and will continue to be charged every month.
Waited on the phone for 2 hours and finally spoke to an adviser who seemed unable to cancel my ID account that I did not require. He advised me that he wasn't able to cancel it.
All 3 accounts remain open and I remain to be charged for all 3 - NO ONE seems able to close one down! I am new to quickbooks, and may not be with them for much longer!

Only 9% 1-Star Reviews?

I can't believe there are 81% 5-star reviews. Seems a lot of people are very dissatisfied with this online software, as I am! I kept some of my clients on the 2014 desktop version and it still works perfectly! No fancy bells & whistles, no changing layouts every few months ... and free! What's not to like?

I like what I have seen of Intuit QuickBooks

I needed accounting software for HMRC's new Making Tax Digital quarterly submissions for self-employed sole traders, and plumped for Intuit Quickbooks. Have just had a helpful onboarding phone call. From what I have seen so far I am reassured that this choice of commercial software is a good one.

I recently upgraded from QBSE to QBO…

I recently upgraded from QBSE to QBO and was really unsure of the new interface. But was put at ease with a great 1-on-1 onboarding session with a member of Intuit's customer service team, Valery. She was very understanding and went above and beyond what I expected of her. Highly recommend the service to anyone in a similar situation!

Welcome to the digital prison

Welcome to the digital prison, seems more like a government based big brother surveillance camp. Linking bank accounts for 'convenience' of course and using your location to track every journey you make in a vehicle for 'easy mileage logs'
This app can see every transaction if your bank account, wake up sheep 🐑 this isn't about making tax digital

Come on

However, if your happy to have more of your data used and your location tracked constantly then crack on to this overcomplicated app. Really hard to get my head around it, my business now is very simple, one man band. Go to work, do my work, get paid. Now I'm expecting to fill this out, fill that out, its too much and way over the top.

I'm going to use excel like a dinosaur, no monthly charge (if using excel online) and can transfer over the relevant bits of information needed only. Let's just keep it simple hey.

And the free 45 mins quickbooks phonecall ..... useless, spoke to someone who I could barely understand. Only got round to asking 2 questions in the time in which she didnt know the answer to one and couldn't understand the other. Wasn't even a drop in the ocean to get any further.

And getting the 60 day refund .... ha, joker, forget it, sends you round in circles.

Pathetic UI

Pathetic UI. The earlier UI was simpler and more user friendly. What on earth were the developers thinking when they created the new UI. I wish I had not started using it.

Wasted a day of my life trying to migrate from desktop

As a Quickbooks desktop user for a decade now, I thought I should migrate my 2016 version to online, I thought it would be a simple process.

How wrong was I, Quickbooks seem intentional to block this process, 2016 version can't do it now, 2021 UK version (last desktop) now blocked too.
Documentation is wrong too.

So I asked support, was only directed to movemybooks service, tried that, it failed. Missing most data from invoices and told I can't try again.

3 Support calls, the last also gave up on me saying he could not help despite me sending backups, the first 2 support calls didn't know anything about the desktop versions.

Wasted a day of my life trying.
I don't understand why Quickbooks go out of their way to prevent migration now, it's almost like they're saying too late.

I had a recent on boarding session from Quickbooks. The trainer was very patient and knowledgeable. I now have a greater understanding of this accounting software which I need now that digital records are required by HMRC.

its far from Quick

its far from Quick, Slowbooks should be its name. Ive used other operating systems and this is the slowest by far. Also hate the name "Intuit" its gross. Its not very intuitive and certain things that should just be there aint. poor experience

The support from quick books is awful

The support from quick books is awful. The chat gave me a quick pasted result and closed the chat (I had to cancel the review to see the reply).so I rang the number AnaG had suggested only to find it didn’t recognise my number…I don’t have an account yet?
Ana G then answered a second question with the same pasted answer. 1 star. Another chat stating that the answer given was wrong. Another member of the team picked up then transferred it to AnaG who shut it down. So I am now 51 minutes into a holding call….

The most infuriating support

I think I am done with QBO. Had enough
In my time with them their system has sent out VAT invoices with no VAT on them meaning customers have not paid the correct amount. One time their invoice said £50 plus VAT = £40. You could not make it up. Whilst trying to fix the issue they created a dummy invoice on a clients account which was not cleaned up and because we had a direct debit in place that £1000 was debited to the clients account and credited to mine.

This time my problem was simple. I noticed that there was a red flat on an invoice that was sent and it was marked as bounced. So all I need to do is to view the bounce message to see why it was bounced. Could not find it. Tried their Ai support which did not even understand the question and gave me answers that were totally irrevelent. So I Googled it but after following the steps to expose the bounce message got me nowhere. So then I tried their chat support. It takes them several minutes to resond to each message you sent. They asked me for my name and email addres twice. They asked me what I had done to resolve the issue - twice. After 50 minutes of them not answering the question which was how do I find the bounce message they still had not answered but asked again what I had done to resolve it.

I have been with QBO for 7 years. The cost started out at £24 and is now £45 which is much more than inflation. Every year the cost goes up and with MTD in the UK looming no doubt it will go up again.

So time to explore other alternatives to this utterly rubbish company whose staff are more interested in saying "I understand how you feel and want to help you" rather than answering the question which would have solved the issue in 5 minutes if only they actually answered the question.
