RAC car insurance cancellation fees dispute
I sold my car and cancelled my RAC insurance. They are charging £45 cancellation fee which is correct, a pro-rata charge for the cover used, PLUS an additional £45 Intermediary Services Fee. This fee was included in the policy cost which was paid in full up front, so why is this charge being added on again? I cannot get an explanation from them - they just repeat their script.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you’re unhappy with the cancellation charges and appreciate your concerns regarding the Intermediary Services Fee.
To clarify, the Intermediary Services Fee is included within the overall policy premium and, as such, is non-refundable when a policy is cancelled. If you pay for your policy monthly, the fee is not paid upfront in full; it becomes chargeable if the policy is cancelled.
We’re sorry if this was not clearly explained to you previously and apologise for any frustration caused.

Your case will be dealt with by BISL Limited, who arrange and administer your car insurance policy on behalf of RAC.

Dreadful. RAC have decided I have had an accident I didn’t know about and are threatening to raise my premium and take away my No Claims Bonus. Will not use again.
