I had a 6months international…

I had a 6months international subscription starting in December. I was very excited about it and it was also a great experience. I liked the books and goodies. But then March arrived and no box appeared. As they send no emails confirming sending of a box, as other subscription companies do, I had to wait up to 10 days to realize my box hadn't been sent. After some emailing they confirmed the problem and said that they would sent a new box. After waiting for ten days again, the box was not at my address. After emailing I received the information that my box arrived (it was sent to Ireland and I live in Germany). So no box for me, but the refund was quite quick. Since then I have recieved two more boxes, more or less on time, but I will not renew my subscription. I expect when I subscribe to receive everything without any hassle.

I love receiving my Reeding in Heel box…

I love receiving my Reeding in Heel box . It’s always carefully thought out and beautifully presented . The books I have received are ones that I would have been unlikely to read otherwise and that’s what I love about it . There’s also always a delicious treat to enjoy with my book . I highly recommend this subscription service 👍🏻

Great for Book Lovers

I have only received two books so far but have been incredibly impressed. The price for what you receive is great. The items are high quality and decent sizes. I look forward to my box every month. I have purchased subscription boxes in the past and this one has been the one I've enjoyed the most.

Reading in Heels broadens your mind

I’ve been receiving Reading in Heels for 5 months now and absolutely love it. I really look forward to each box - obviously the book is the most important thing but there are always small, quirky treats that have introduced me to new products like ethical chocolates or drinks.

The books have been great- especially as they are not the usual books I would pick off a shelf. They’ve introduced me to new and international writers.

If you don’t like trying new things and broadening your mind, then probably Reading in Heels won’t be for you. If you like to dare greatly and open your mind, I think you will like their boxes.

Appalling customer service!

This company has possibly some of the worse customer service I’ve ever encountered...do you remember the sketch from little Britain ‘computer says no?’ It’s not dissimilar!!!

They will only deal with you over email, even when you have requested on multiple occasions for them to quickly phone you to resolve a simple problem (how difficult can a problem to do with a book subscription really be to sort out?!)

N.B. to the Reading in heels...there might be a reason why a customer continually requests a phone call... perhaps they have a disability which makes emailing harder, but don’t always want to have to shout it loud that this is the case).

Ive had two issues with them.

1.because of when my subscription started it meant that the way the payments were organised between Reading in Heels and PayPal that the payment for March’s box did not come out until the 1st March instead of the 28th February. So therefore I did not get a box in March and they had my money for 45 days before sending out the April’s box. They said if I wanted March’s box then I would have to make a separate payment for it. Reading in heels just couldn’t get their heads around the fact that I was on a 12 month subscription that started in January and that I should therefore have had a box for each month if the year...oh and that they are the ones that organise the payments with PayPal.

2. now my May box has not been delivered. Apparently it was given to Royal Mail in the 1st, and they have said that they will send a new one out of it doesn’t arrive over the weekend. However, again I am having to chase up my box delivery.

The actual product is lovely, but this is far outshadowed by the company’s attitude to their customers. For a £10 monthly subscription I’ve had too much hassle.

Also, lastly a bit of a bug bear for me... I hate at the end of their customer service emails they always end them with Team RIH x...the x part feels very condescending.

No Repeat Orders Here

I was really excited for my first delivery - I'd opted for a one-off delivery with the view to subscribe if I enjoyed it.

Firstly, my understanding was that the parcel should fit in my letterbox. I have a standard letter box but it came too wide to fit into it. As I hadn't expected this, I hadn't left a note for my mailman to leave it in a safe place, so instead had to travel 4 miles across town to pick it up after work one evening at the mailroom.

When I opened it, I was really disappointed in the overall parcel. I wasn't given the option of tea or coffee and received coffee which I have had to give away.

The book sounded interesting but was like pulling teeth to get into. I expected an empowering book with a great heroine. Instead it was very much what you'd pick up in desperation when you've ran out of something to read on holiday. Just to update in response to the reply I received - literacy fiction is normally what I actually do read. It just seems the luck of draw wasn't on my side with the book I received that month.

For £10, I could have bought multiple books I actually wanted at the bookstore and enjoyed a cuppa in a cafe. All of which would have been equally as "Instagrammable", which seems to be what Reading in Heels is really about.

Great product let down by appalling…

Great product let down by appalling customer service.

Bought the 3 month subscription for a friend. She loved it and thought the first 2 boxes were wonderful.

However, things went downhill from there ... the 3rd box never arrived and I have continiously emailed them asking about this. The initial reply arrives quickly enough "we will look into it" but then silence. Even when asking again a few weeks later, same story "we will look into it" and you wont ever hear from them again. I have tried to contact them on four different occations and also asked for a substitute product and/or refund but nothing ever happened.

Very disappointing as the product itself is great and makes a lovely present. Will look for a similar subscription elsewhere for future presents though. Never have I experienced such bad customer service before and will take my business elsewhere I suggest you do the same.

Again no Delivery of Boxes

Just like so many people here, boxes just didn't arrive. Neither did the replacement. I will be very surprised if this month shows up also even though payment was taken last month.

Boxes are fantastic, the only reason I gave two stars. But I have canceled my subscription, as has my colleague who also never received there's. And everyone I raved about this box to has been stopped from starting a subscription.

Started off with no problem for a few months, then boxes got later and later still nothing. I knew from reading reviews on here that that was the beginning of the end. I have subscripted to lots of subscription services and have never had a box and then its replacement not show up.

In the market for a new service that does similar but follows through with orders.

Update: I have to admit, I got a very detailed reply from the reading in heels team who are aware of the issue and working to rectify the delivery issues. I am hopeful this will be sorted soon.

I had an international subscription as…

I had an international subscription as a gift for the last 3 month, ending in April. Everything went well and they answered promptly to my question via mail when I thought something was wrong in my account. It wasn't and I got a very helpful and nice answer to that.

The boxes were all delivered nicely and well packed. I liked the book choices and small goodies coming along, so I was always very satisfied and happy with my Reading in Heels.

Great product, awful customer service

The products offered by Reading in Heels are great but their customer service is abysmal. I didn't get my January box because my bank didn't transfer their payment on New Year's Day, although it was taken out on the 2nd of January. The company knew that this was a problem with some banks, but didn't advise their customers - they just took our money and waited for us to complain that our product hadn't shown up. I imagine that some customers had their payment deducted but never got anything for it.

When I first signed up in September 2018 there was a glitch with my internet browser and I accidentally created two orders. Within five minutes I had cancelled one of the orders and e-mailed the RiH customer service asking them not to send out two boxes. They still sent out the two boxes and deducted two payments. I returned one of the boxes for a refund, as instructed. In January I noticed that they hadn't refunded me. In the end it took me two months (on top of the initial four months) and seven e-mails to get the refund for my box. I've honestly had better customer service experiences with Ryanair after they mislaid my luggage.

I was really excited about Reading in Heels, but I can't bring myself to sign up with them again. They're too fond of holding on to money that isn't theirs.

Good books but poor customer service.

The book choices are good and some were great but unfortunately I can only give two stars as the customer service is really poor. I had a three month subscription for Christmas and March's box didn't arrive. I contacted them but it took them a month to resolve(it arrived on 1st April). You can only email them, no other contact and then they do make excuses why they can't ship a new one(our warehouse only ships on certain day, its the post office's fault). Really hard to resolve with emails only and I felt a month was too long to wait to sort it out. So I'm not renewing the subscription. Maybe in a year or two when they have improved their customer service it will improve.

Worst customer service ever…

Worst customer service ever experienced.

The product is great and my wife really looked forward to receiving the monthly goodies.

However the monthly products stopped arriving and reading in heels refused to offer a refund.

I have cancelled my order and they won't even refund me for the box that they have not shipped. This has gone to PayPal dispute.

Their written correspondence is dreadful, with short meaningless and pointless responses to being completely ignored.

They have the worst customer service of any company I have ever encountered. This is the first review I have ever written about any product/company but the truth needs to be out there that this company is a disaster.

Poorly managed, disgraceful communication and slopping shipping processes.

I would steer clear at all costs and look at the other, more respected monthly book clubs. This isn't your only option. It is just such a shame they have managed to get good publicity via marketing schemes, their product is great, but the company & customer service is a disaster.

What a shame.

Amazing book box and great customer service

I love the start of a new month because I know I am going to receive my Reading in Heels box. Each month we get a box with a surprise book and some really lovely gifts. I have had a range of things from delicious chocolate, lip balm, coffee and luxurious teas - to name a few. The book that gets selected each month is not always something I would pick off the shelf myself but it is one that I thoroughly enjoy. So far I have received a thriller, a non fiction book and a Christmas themed novel. I love that the company also celebrates different events, such as International Women's Day. The products we get are very good for the price too!

The customer service is also very good. Every time I have contacted the company they have responded very quickly and have been very friendly. I highly recommend this subscription box.

I love receiving my Reading In Heels box each month, the books are always fantastic and the treats are such good quality. I started by ordering one box and have reordered every month since! I’ve never had any problems with delivery or payment and couldn’t recommend this subscription box highly enough.

Dreadful service

Dreadful service, a shame as the product (the 2 of the 3 that I paid for - the 3rd never arrived) was really quite nice.

I would steer clear of this company, there are much better subscription services out there. I had to chase and chase to get the first couple of packs and the third never arrived despite my chasing. A real disappointment as I had bought this as a gift for a friend.

You may not receive your order or your refund. Beware.

I purchased the Pretty Inconic set with beauty products included from RIH. I bought two sets for my friend and I. Paid the amount due but Alice at RIH demanded rudely that I needed to pay another lot of postage because I’d ordered two sets. I explained that I paid the full amount as advertised on her website. She was rude and abrupt and cancelled my order promising that she’d refund. She didn’t refund at all. I placed a new ordered for the two sets and set her screen prints of her own website at every stage of the purchase to show her that her own website charges postage per order and not postage per item. She became even more rude and cancelled my order and promised a refund. All in all she owed me just shy of £600! She wouldn’t refund so I had to raised disputes with PayPal to achieve a refund.

If anyone who like to see a copy of the PayPal disputes I’d be happy to share them. I am no liar or troll thank you.

If you email her she denies receiving them.
If you write anything about poor service on Twitter she blocks your account. If you write anything on her Facebook account about poor service she deletes the comments and blocks you.

Dreadful service. Not to be trusted with your hard earned money.

UPDATE: I had to raise 3 disputes with PayPal to obtain a refund. You did not refund me at all. I did not harass anyone nor would I. This seller goes into full attack mode whenever she is challenged. Read the other reviews and make up your own mind.

Buyer beware!!

Buyer beware!!! Feel very cheated by this company. Boxes arrived late and then not at all! My emails were ignored and I was blocked from the reading in heels face book group after trying to get a response there. The owner has said she has refunded me for the last box but has also lied about that. This company is not to be trusted. A fraudulent business. Stay well clear!

An absolute shambles from day 1!

An absolute shambles from day 1!! I placed an order for a 3 month subscription in October as a Christmas gift for my sister in law. I asked for the first box to be sent to me so I could ‘gift’ it as Christmas then have the following 2 boxes sent to her. I was told no problem. In December when I’d not received the box I contacted them as was told they don’t take Christmas orders before November and that nothing had been processed. They said they would refund me. I asked them to set up the subscription as of then and sent the first box in January, which they did and box 1 arrived with my sister in law. Now in February and no box 2, contacted them and have been told they’ve sent 3 boxes - November December and January. Err no you haven’t!! Nobody seems to know what they’re doing. Wish I’d never placed the order!!!
Then they reply to this review to say they told me about Christmas orders which is a lie! I have all my email and FB chat to prove it. They refunded me the cost of 1 box without ever offering to rectify the error, but they owe me for 2 boxes and I’m still waiting for the rest of the refund.
