RUDE-A-TECH....

Today July 18, 2025 after 3 weeks of no communication with this company I finally called and a RUDE man (he refused to give his name..btw) answered and asked how he could help after explaining to him how I would like a refund because I still have not received my pro pack I purchased almost a month ago ( in which I honestly had to borrow the money for) and after many emails with no response back I asked for a refund, he was very rude and said to contact hr and get an exit interview that's how I can get my money back and hung up. This company is not professional and i feel as if I was robbed of employment as well as my money. Don't trust Rent a Tech it's a scam. I will be contacting the BBB as well as every other site that allows me to write a review. Oh yeah and my RTP number always seems to change every time I try to get to the employee portal...this is so frustrating all I want is to apply my experience and hard work to use.

SCAM - STAY AWAY

This place is scam. They won't scam me! It is so obvious that they pay people to say good things and write good reviews. When you have to pay or buy anything to work for a company, that's worse than a red flag.

This company is a scam

This company is a scam
They took my $100 deposit to schedule a plumber (they say they train and vet all their technicians) with the balance of $60 due after the service.
I was told that the plumber would be here between 12 and 2.
Around 11:00 a very nice guy shows up and asks to see the job.
I show it to him and he says “no problem, I’ll just go get a part and come back “ He asks me if I already have the cash for the repair and I say “ what cash “?
He says “ The $60 cash in the Craigslist ad”
As he is talking another guy shows up and says he’s here to fix my pipe
I ask him where he’s from and he says “the Craigslist ad”
He shows me the ad and it’s got my address and an offer of $60 cash to whoever comes over and fixes my leak .
I advise him that I’m sorry but I never put the ad on Craigslist.
I call Rentatech and ask where my plumber is and this very rude clown tells me he’s already been onsite for an hour.
I tell him that no one is here and he tells me there’s nothing he can do and hangs up
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY!!

Earthcare/ rent a tech is a scam

If you are a handyman looking for work they will scam you out of your last. They say you have to pass a test that they have given you the information for then they ask questions that are not on the test. This is not a skills or competence test. This test is on 10 video segments on their website. The way around is to buy two courses which after saying all they need is certificates of completion for after presenting the certificates i was asked for two essays one seven pages and the other 20 to 30 pages.

Scam

Scam, buyer beware. Dont use these guys. I paid for a tech, they did not do the job and took the money. The exaggerate the hours required, prefer you pay via Zelle in advance so you cant get it back. In my case they assigned a Tech that did not do any work, tech closed the ticket as complete and company paid him out. Tech must have been laughing all the way to the bank. I called customer service and they just hung up on me 3 times saying they cant do anything about it and took no accountability.

total scam dont fall for ,rent a tech SCAM SCAM SCAMyou have to…

total scam dont fall for ,you have to pay at least 50 for a uniform that you cant possess until you pass there test which is actually bullshit they set the time then when u miss it they tell you its east coast time .then i had tom reschedule and i got hung up on 2 times and finlly when i was able to keep them on the line the rude person did not belive i had a appointment so i hasd to hang up find the email where i was giving the appointment and send it in .so 30 after my appointed time i was able to call back and with a person with a attitude problem gave me the test which i didn't end up finishing because my 1 3 questions were ridiculous. basically i was told i had to memorize every phone number and email address to do with rentatech even though the only way
to commutate with them is from my phone to began with so sll that info is in my phone (your advised yoiu can not look at notes during thr test but the way thry have it set up it is impossible unless you have a photographic memory. And on top of that the 24 hours most people go to work is a total lie!!! the 1st appointment they gave me was 4 day off.i could go on and on but im sure you get the picture these people play string a long till you find another job . also u have to buy your own insurance to be able to work so the least money you HAVE to s[pend is 70.00 up front be fore you can do anything ! why has done ANYTHING to shut them down????????

This is a cash grab scam

This is a cash grab scam on independent contractors. Initially, it's free to start. You just need your own tools and transportation. Your application / background check gets approved way too quickly to be legit. Then, before you can proceed to "training", you have to buy a crap t-shirt and badge that they call a uniform. After the training videos, you can schedule an over the phone test or pay for the open-book certification. Scheduling the over the phone test turns into you need contractor's insurance to take the test, which they offer at $39 for 3 months with reoccurring fees.

If you ask to cancel the uniform before it even ships you will get "we cannot cancel it but if you prefer we cannot ship it at your request till your ready or ship it to an alterantive location", "we do not offer refunds. we can hold your order till your ready or ship it to someone else". One rep even suggested that I sell my ID badge and 'uniform' to someone else! Like it's a curse that I could get rid of by passing it on to someone else!

And don't try to dispute a charge that you tried to cancel or you'll get, "we will then use your social and file a debts against your credit report lowering your credit score... We will then tack on a $200 dispute fee and send this to collections
We will also file a police report against the information you provided (in your application)"

The general consensus of their customer service reps on not refunding is "...since it would come out of the employees salary who issued the refund
and the dispute would come out of the salary of the last employee you talked to
this place sucks."

It's a scam to sell T-shirts to people…

It's a scam to sell T-shirts to people desperate looking for jobs. I paid 50 bucks for the shirt which is required. Then they have you schedule a test to take from watching these bootleg videos. And it's not like you pick a time that's convenient they just give you a time that you're supposed to call them. The time they gave me was 4:30 in the afternoon right when I'm picking my kids up. So you can pay 20 bucks to take a test written instead of over the phone and then you pay the 20 bucks to take the test and it's 50 questions in 3 minutes. And the questions have obvious wrong answers like how do you upkeep and maintain your appliances correct answer for them was yes. Yes is not the right answer to that question I have screenshots of this complete nonsense. These people are taking advantage of folks who need jobs and they should be arrested.

Waste of money

EarthCare (aka Rent a Tech) in Orlando is a scam, do not do business with them!

I contacted them to install a new water heater and was instructed to send a cash payment of $150 to schedule the job. They gave me an 11 to 1 timeslot on 12/26. I waited until 5 PM and no one showed up or called. I called them and they rescheduled the job for 12/30 from 9 to 11. I waited until 4 PM and again a no-show. They offed to reschedule yet a third time but I declined as I had to drive 2-1/2 hours each way to the location.

They said they would give me a credit but not refund my payment. Given that they twice failed to do the job I declined.

It was at this point that the representative explained that they are not a plumber, rather they are middle men who subcontract all their services.

I sent them an email with all the facts asking for my money back. I asked for a response within 2 business days and a check within 10 days.

I have neither heard from them nor gotten my money back. Earthcare/Rentatech are a scam, unreliable and insensitive to customers’ situations.

What a waste of $150

SCAM!

Steer clear of these people! I signed up to be a tech and before Evan getting in trading or to see how to get work, they make you pay up front before Evan letting get link to train. Once they have your money they make you go through hoops to get to see how to get work. Then when I want refund they just hang up on me when I tell them I need my money back that they are scammers.

Absolutely a Scam

Absolutely a Scam
If you're considering joining their team, don't.
I tried to join their team to pick up handyman work, and all they want to do is push products, from the BS uniform and badge, to the AI generated "handyman courses" that are completely useless.
