Welcome to Ridgeons, one of the largest independently owned timber and builders’ merchants in the UK, employing around 900 colleagues and trading from 26 local branches in the East of England. Our mission has stayed the same since 1911 when Cyril Ridgeon founded the business in the back room of his home in Cambridge – to make it easier for our customers to do business. Our teams take enormous pride in helping customers identify and fulfil their building needs and are passionate in their knowledge and understanding of the products and services we supply. The Ridgeon Group customers today are tradespeople, including builders, plumbers and heating engineers. We also serve the needs of major construction companies, regional house builders, property developers, public sector organisations and the DIY market. As well as Ridgeons Timber & Builders Merchants, the Group encompasses PlumbStock, which is dedicated to plumbing and heating; Ridgeons Forest Products, our timber processing team based at the 12 acre Herringswell site; Anglia Tool Centre, specialist sellers of hand power tools and CRS Wholesale, a bathroom and sanitary ware wholesaler. We ordered 15t of stone

We ordered 15t of stone, got 10t and no more, kept being told it was on its way, for 3 days!, then told lorry had broken down. Total nightmare as our guys on site cannot get on without the stone. Halesworth are a terrible branch, lies and no communication or call backs.

Dealt with multiple staff and area manager pretending to care and resolve not the case

Builder as myself at a good £1000 loss of work due wrong product delivery

At my expense located and travel to correct the errors would not use again

Further more time wasted they as me to email onlinehuwsgray.co.uk and they didn't even bother to respond complete time wasters

I really do not see this company working well with builders

Awful experience today in Halesworth…

Awful experience today in Halesworth branch. Staff went out of their way be as unhelpful as possible. What should have been a very simple and quick purchase, turned into a lengthy complicated farce. The staffs attitude to work, work ethics and professionalism are clearly very lacking.

Halesworth branch don't want to survive?

Halesworth branch - a great area for tradespeople and DIY enthusiasts with no other big building supply outlet for miles. It should be so easy for Ridgeons to do well. But they just don't seem to want to bother. Over half of the products have no price - I wandered about with some pipe, then saw a similar piece at an incredible price and thought I'd better put it back. I was then looking for a simple piece of bathroom seal, wandered up and down the aisles and couldn't see any so I went to the desk. The assistant said his colleague would know where it is, but he was on the phone. I waited and the colleague came off the phone, was told I was waiting, glanced over, then kept chatting to others in the office and drinking from his mug. Exasperated I called out, "Don't bother, I'll go somewhere else," and walked out. I've now sourced all the pieces I need online, cheaper and delivered free.
Having just moved house I'm buying a lot of fittings and would love to 'shop local'; sadly, not at Ridgeons.

RIDGEONS MARCH BRANCH

RIDGEONS MARCH BRANCH.
Went in to the local branch, as just starting a self build project. Spoke to Lynn, the manager, who was extremely helpful and friendly. Spent lots of time with us and very patient while choosing bricks for our house.
She did us a fantastic deal, and they were delivered on the time and day promised.
Our builder uses them regularly and is very pleased with the service, he deals with Nigel who is also very knowledgable and helpful.
On the whole, great service well done Lynn and your team.

Avoid a credit account here

I have a construction company that has unfortunately gone into liquidation. Obviously no one sets out to fail but it happens. Ridgeons have a personal guarantee for their limited company trade accounts which is something to note, but they want to get paid so fair enough. However we sold our van recently to one of our subcontractors who was surprised to find himself surrounded by the Norwich branch manager and around 5 members of staff. They apparently wanted to take the van off him in lieu of the £6k odd I as the managing director still owe them. It was only when he provided proof of ownership that they let him leave (wouldn’t serve him though despite him having an account with them). I guess what really annoys me is that I’ve already set up a payment plan with head office to pay them over the next 6 months. They just became our priority creditors but we will never use them again and advise anyone who has a credit account to be extremely wary as it would seem the manager and staff at the Norwich branch are inclined to behave like a bunch of plastic gangsters

Ridgeons has lots of wood

Ridgeons is cool. It has a lot of wood which is nice.

I was able to find the right thickness of wood there. They cut the wood for us and didn't charge us for it because my mum is Arnold Schwarzenegger🙂

Overall, friendly people

Poor customer service

They would not refund items that had not been used and unopened. Just because some dirt and dust got on them. Nothing which a wipe couldn't solve. Very poor customer service.

Really bad service - Newmarket branch

Really bad service. Needed something for today so ordered yesterday and they told me to come at 8am which I did. On arrival they said they’re short staffed sorry and to come back Monday. Why didn’t they tell me this yesterday rather than a 40 minute round journey completed wasted. Then got home and they called to say it was ready! VERY frustrated!

Ridgeons Diss Branch

Ridgeons Diss Branch - I ordered 2 pallets of bricks online in Sep after which the site went down and I was unable to log in again. As the delivery of the bricks was crucial to other work, I was concerned that the order may not have gone through so I contacted my nearest branch, Diss. My enquiries were dealt with by Tim who put my mind at rest before chasing down the order and the delivery details. First class support and bricks arrived on time. Well deserved 5*.
