No such thing as back up service

No such thing as back up service. Forget complaining they aren’t interested. They don’t even have a complaints dept. Not even remotely interested. I’m paying for a service I’m not receiving. I stupidly bought a new camera, which took all the cameras off my husband’s phone. Cannot get them back. Keep being told to try again next week, as they have a problem. They have a problem alright - think it’s called “we don’t give a shit - we have your money so sod off” you can chat until the cows come home. Next week it’ll be sorted, next week it will be sorted, next week it will be sorted ….,, Wish I’d used another company!

This company is an absolute joke!!!!

This company is an absolute joke!!!!
The price increases are extortionate for a start.
THEN my subscription ran out at midnight on the 1st of April there was no notification whatsoever to let me know. I only found out when checking my cameras remotely. I renewed the subscription today the 2nd of April 14 hours after it expired.
They have deleted ALL of my VIDEOS recorded for the last two weeks. I telephoned customer service and asked for them back, I explained that the recordings were taken during my subscription period and that I had paid for them.
I was told that I was not getting them back because my service had lapsed by 14 hours.
This is absolutely appalling, what a rip off.
I told them to cancel my subscription immediately, the advisor agreed but was totally nonchalant and couldn’t care less.
The doorbell camera was useless anyway it was picking up my neighbours car and missing people coming down my driveway.
GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDDANCE RING YOU WONT BE GETTING ANOTHER PENNY OUT OF ME!!!!!

Subscriptions subscriptions

Initially £24.99 for subscribers then up to £80 for all cameras for the year and now they put it up to £159. No thank you.
Poor quality products and ridiculous subscription prices. The fact that they also keep all your footage is also a problem.

Really disappointed with the quality of…

Really disappointed with the quality of the doorbell. We’ve had it for a couple of years and although it’s partially undercover, the exterior has really corroded and looks very unsightly (some visitors have even said they are unwilling to press it as it looks really grubby) These are not cheap and we expected better quality from Ring. Now looking at replacing with a competitor.

Ring doorbell

Bought a ring doorbell. The view from the camera on the bell is often badly affected by direct sunlight, street lights, condensation and rain making it useless for viewing. I often have to clean the lens for a satisfactory viewing.

ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL!!

ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL!!
They have taken almost £50 from my account WITHOUT AUTHORISATION.
I contacted Ring months ago and told them I had moved last July and left the doorbell on the wall and no longer wanted a subscription.
Ring have gone into my bank account with the details they have kept on their system from last year and taken my money as I have NO payment set up authorising them to take the money.
Absolutely Shameful.

I use the cameras to monitor my elderly parrot. I would say they work about 50% of the time. Which overall means, they cannot be dependent on to provide a safe level of supervision for an elderly parent. I suppose the same would go for a nanny or caregiver for a child. They are not a complete disaster because they were half of the time.
The recording function has big gaps in it so at times I cannot tell when a caregiver has come in to visit my parent, and the audio will also cut out for periods of time on the recording

An utterly useless doorbell

An utterly useless doorbell. Temperamental and have to reboot almost daily now to get it to work and even then after maybe an hour it'll say it's offline again! I pay for a monthly subscription and for what?! I can't view anything anyway! Considering my NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOUR was BURGLED you'd think I would feel safer knowing I have a ring doorbell but nope, it's absolutely useless and leaves me vulnerable. I will be cancelling my subscription, smashing this useless pile of crap up because it's not even worth trying to sell a faulty piece of crap that I wouldn't wish upon anyone and I will be buying a better doorbell camera NOT BY RING. Never ever again. P.s. if the camera is faulty, they expect YOU to pay for parts/labour costs of an engineer coming out. Don't waste your money.

Extremely disappointed

Extremely disappointed – Ring defaults video storage to just 30 days despite paid subscription promising up to 180 days, with poor visibility and no automatic maximum setting.
I have been a Ring customer for nearly 6 years, with cameras in my busy tattoo studio, and I've paid for the Ring Multi subscription (or equivalent Protect plan) specifically because it advertises up to 180 days of cloud video storage for recorded events.
Recently, I needed to review footage from January 5th (only about 5 weeks old at the time), but nothing appeared in my Event History before February 14th. After a long chat with Ring's AI support, it turned out my video storage duration had been automatically set to only 30 days – even though I subscribed years ago expecting the full advertised retention period.
The worst part is how hidden and non-intuitive this setting is:
It's not in the individual device settings where most people would look.
You have to dig into account-level or Control Center settings (under Video and Snapshot Storage → Edit → select 180 days per device).
There's no prominent prompt during setup or subscription to choose the maximum duration – it defaults to a much shorter period (30 or 60 days depending on region/device).
Changing it only affects future recordings; anything older that expired under the short default is permanently deleted and unrecoverable.
This feels deceptive and unprofessional for a paid security service. Customers pay a monthly/yearly fee expecting reliable, long-term access to footage as advertised. Instead, Ring quietly applies a low default that deletes important videos before users even realize the setting exists – often only discovered when it's too late to retrieve critical recordings.
I raised this with support, expressed my frustration, and they acknowledged it but offered no solution for lost footage and no real accountability. This practice undermines trust in a home/business security product.
I strongly advise anyone considering Ring: immediately check and manually set your Video Storage Time to 180 days after subscribing, or you risk losing videos you thought were safely stored.
Unfortunately, this experience has cost Ring a long-term customer. 1 star.
