Disappointing customer service and poor value
I’ve been a paying Ring subscriber at £4.99 per month, but my experience with customer service has been extremely disappointing. My doorbell battery drains quickly and can take up to two full days to recharge, during which time the device — and therefore the subscription — is unusable. This happens roughly once a month.
I raised this as a value-for-money issue, not to argue about troubleshooting, and asked whether any small goodwill gesture could be offered to reflect the days when the service can’t be used. Despite being polite and reasonable, I was repeatedly told that no goodwill could be considered and I had to go through full troubleshooting again — even after explaining I wasn’t at home and had already done this previously.
I also purchased the Ring solar charger, which has made no noticeable difference, adding to the frustration. Customer service felt rigid, scripted, and uninterested in retaining a loyal customer.
For a subscription-based service, this lack of flexibility and poor customer care is really disappointing. I’ll be cancelling and looking for a better alternative.

Had a problem with a camera and called support a few times, and didn't resolve the problem. Not the camera is out of warranty and they tell me to connection problem and I need to buy a new camera.
Hardly worth putting another bad review on here, as there are so many!
Ring camera plus - useless
Ring camera plus - at night time this is completely useless, the picture is all foggy and nothing can be seen, during the day it’s fine. Rain x, cat crap, washing up liquid etc DO NOT work on the lens, it has protective guard over the top to stop any condensation dripping………useless

Ring, Scammers
Had problem connecting door bell to my door entry system they said all equipment was compatible, 62 days and over 21 hours on the phone they kept asking the same questions and sending me wiring diagrams, when you call them this call closes your previous case and opens a new one so they have to start from the beginning again and again as they can't access the previous case for your data and pictures !!! Also when you call them your phone shows that you are calling St.Albans UK but they told me they're actually in EGYPT, disgrace of a company with no customer skills, really should be closed down.
Flaky product, massively overpriced.
Had a doorbell and two cameras.
They only worked when they wanted to, in the two years I've had the system, I have not once been able to answer the door from my phone - not once!
Recently, all three stopped working - I spent more of my life trying to get them back online than they are worth. An hour this morning trying to get the things to reconnect after charging, when the final attempt failed, I sent the damn thing sailing out of the window. I've cancelled the subscription instead.

They've now stopped answering my questions on their social media platform.
So, so unprofessional it's a disgrace.
They can't even put their brain cells togethor to work out how to send me the correct barcode to send a faulty camera back, I've been waiting 2 weeks!!!!!
TWO WEEKS to receive a barcode for someone in the UK.
Horrible experience.
Avoid ring at all costs, not worth it, you shouldn't only be paying for their product you should be paying for their knowledge if you ever need assistance for their product and they offer very little.
AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE.
4K POE Camera: Terrible Zoom! Waste of money! Read review for full details.
This is a comprehensive review to give you the necessary info. It's for the POE version so this specific model seems to have flaws, probably because of the Ethernet to USB converter. Also because of the different hardware, it comes with 3 or 4 different types of screws, so not as straightforward as the installation for the "plug-in" version especially as the instructions don't clarify which screw to use!
The point about the packaging is, they've skimped on it and the concern is what else they have skimped on? This model is the most expensive Camera they do - £279.99! Would you be happy buying a premium phone if it came in a drab, minimalist box?

Full review:
I have lot's of different Ring Camera's and doorbells including:
Spotlight Pro (2K supposedly).
Floodlight Plus.
Indoor Cam.
Ring Elite (1080p Power Over Ethernet (POE))
Doorbell Pro 2.
First it was delivered today in a paper bag. The corners of the box were crushed!
They've gone away from the premium packaging on this new 4K camera. Very basic box, a bit disappointing.
I went for this new 4K Retinal Outdoor Camera - the POE version.
First thing was - no quick instructions pamphlet like there used to be with the older products, I was looking for it and couldn't find it. This is because you have to scan a QR code and then the instructions are shown on the Ring app. They could have clearly stamped this QR and relevant message on top of the compartments when you open the box lid...
There is no POE injector like there is with the older Ring Elite POE camera! So you will have to buy one separately or use a POE router/POE network switch.
So the unit itself is a big disappointment because it clearly is a normal camera with a POE conversion back mount! This backbox hides the Ethernet to USB C metal converter box. Hence it's an unnecessarily bulky mounting box! The Ring 1080p Elite cam is a dedicated POE camera so the Ethernet cable plugs straight into it. It's small and discreet camera.
The instructions on the app are OK BUT it doesn't tell you which exact screws to use even though the screws are lettered on their packaging so you have to guess!!! Why didn't they reference the screw letters on the app instructions?!!! With IKEA instructions, they at least reference the screw packet letters!
After it powered up and did an update, picture would not show on the app. I had to reset the power to the cam and turn it back on (disconnected the Ethernet cable). Then video started working on the app.
The initial quality looks better than the 1080p camera BUT as soon as you zoom in, picture become a bit fuzzy and slightly pixilated. The zoom is worst than the Ring 1080p cameras!!!
The lens are also not as wide as the Ring Elite Camera, that's another disappointment.
The video footage on my Echo Shows are shown a bit fuzzy too!
So much for 4K Retinal resolution! It's nonsense! Video download is confirmed as 4K UHD though.
If mobile phones can now have 10 X Optical zoom, why can't this ?!
I spoke to Ring Tech support. I did a factory reset. It didn't help. Tech support couldn't help. They said "hopefully there's an update soon to fix it"!
So I have spent £279.99 on this premium camera that generally is worst than the entry level cameras! What a waste of money!
I will monitor it for the next few weeks. If it doesn't improve then it's going back.
As mentioned it's an Ethernet connection. Just under 1Gbps so my internet is not the issue!
Save your money
Worked fine when I first got it. Subscribed to the standard plan. Started sporadically not working. Followed all troubleshooting including uninstalling and reinstalling it all completely.
Just ended up in a constant loop of trying to fix it.
Unable to raise a ticket, complaint or speak to a person. Shocking customer service, horrendous support, awful product.
Lack of transparency on plans and…
Lack of transparency on plans and refusal to replace confirmed faulty device
I own two Ring cameras and believed I was on a plan that covered both. I only discovered later—after higher-than-expected charges—that Ring had put me on two separate plans. This was not made clear in the app or through any communication, and I was never informed that a cheaper multi-device plan existed that also included extended warranty.
When I tried to fix this in the app, it wasn’t possible. I had to call customer support to consolidate the plans. During that call, support confirmed that one of my cameras is faulty, as it repeatedly goes offline.
Despite this, Ring later refused to replace the device because it is just over two years old and “out of warranty.” Had the plan options been clearly explained—or had I been guided to the correct plan, which I reasonably assumed I already had—the device would have been covered. Ironically, I paid more overall and still lost warranty protection.
A security camera failing just after two years is disappointing enough, but the lack of transparency around subscriptions and the inflexible handling of a confirmed fault has seriously undermined my trust in Ring.
I would not recommend Ring based on this experience.
Ring customer services is very poor too and difficult to reach. Have spent a lot of time to get a negative response.
Go with eufy
Honestly terrible camera. Always going off until you actually need it to work. The camera is affected by frost and rain that it won't pick up anything. I brought this camera incase I had any issue but apparently a Neighbour kicking and banging my door is not one of these times! Not once did ring camera pick this up. Going to eufy no subscriptions much better camera. You have let me down ring. Worst camera ever
My camera on my drive stop working
My camera on my drive stop working. Still under warranty. Contact Customer Service, was told about replacement going to be sent. After that got notified that it not in the stock. Maybe 1-2 weeks wait. But I have to ring them to find out if item is in the stock. The same thing with the door bells chime.
Just don’t understand why not notify customer about arrival of item and date of sending it to a customer?
I was told they haven’t got that option. To be honest I thought that after time company going to improve more and more. But in reality it is getting worse.
Just in this festive period I probably won’t know what happened around my house. Why Ring didn’t bother to sort out stock before Christmas? To riches or drops responsibility? Customer service hopefully is on a promise to be better! Not to mention we’ve been burgled three times. Isn’t this time to look for different company?
Ring have ripped me off for years!!!!!!
I have just spent nearly an hour on hold to ring after paying them £9.99p a months for MANY YEARS on the basis of there advice this was the best plan for to 2x devices and potential to add further 2x devices,,,, HOWEVER when my internal camera didn't record I checked and trust worthy RING was charging me £3 more a month by charging me individually for both cameras when they had a plan for multiple cameras at £7 I think.I have paid £9.99p for many many years, soI spent over an hour to someone to get all the over payments reimbursed, to which she told me she was sorry and all they could offer me was..... One month payment back. I'VE NEVER BEEN SO INSULTED I MY WHOLE LIFE. I explained I was going to seek legal advice on how to get me overpaid money back and I would out of principle get rid of all there equipment and go elsewhere and she could not of been less bothered. Fuming
Please Avoid this shameful company
I was treated so appallingly by so called customer service, I ended up in tears.
I WAS TRYING TO PAY!!!
You may not bother to read this, however others will…
Utterly shameful and anyone thinking of investing….JUST DON’T!!
New format not working for me.
I bought 3 cameras for my shop. Everything went ok apart from not being able to go straight to a certain date without paying extra which I’m not prepared to do. I could however fast forward through footage to find specific incidents. Now they have changed the format so when I try to fast forward the picture freezes and I have to keep stopping and starting it. It’s just not working anymore for my requirements so about to stop my subscription.
Missed delivery promise (5–7 days to Ireland) and refusal to cancel
I’ve been a Ring customer for over three years, and this experience has been extremely disappointing.
I placed an order on 4 December after being shown a 5–7 working day delivery estimate to Ireland at checkout. That delivery promise was not met. The order was not shipped until 9 December, and only after that did Ring change the delivery expectation to 10–14 days.
When I contacted customer service, instead of resolving the issue, I was repeatedly sent in circles with scripted responses. Despite Ring clearly failing to meet the delivery timeframe advertised at the point of sale, I was told the order could not be cancelled and that I would have to wait for delivery, accept the item, and then return it in order to get a refund.
That approach unfairly shifts the burden of Ring’s failure onto the customer.
This isn’t about impatience. It’s about advertising one delivery timeframe, missing it, revising it after purchase, and then refusing to cancel when challenged. Long-term customers should not be treated this way.
Very poor customer service and a frustrating experience from start to finish.
AWFUL
Tried to add my email address to the ring, previously was connected to an old device YEARS ago i haven’t used the new one, I had a delivery coming today but also had a drs appointment tried to connect my account to the new one which was under my moms email address and was told I need to verify my account from the device i previously used I’ve probably been through 2 new phones in that time. Called customer service and she was absolutely useless telling me I need to disconnect myself from the old device. NO ONE HAD USED IT IN YEARS. Was told i need to disconnect from that device before i can connect to the new one. I’ll be looking for an alternative to this company as u clearly just care about money and there’s no thought going in to how the customer can even access their devices.
Every time I try to log into my…
Every time I try to log into my account, I get a message saying they’ve sent a verification code to my email address. It never arrives, just spent 40 minutes talking to a noisy call centre who eventually told me to try again tomorrow. Utter useless
Absolutely no Customer Service
This company are a joke. They are hugely difficult to deal with. I had a problem with my unit, used their troubleshooting section, which is AI. Having followed the instructions the unit was fatally damaged. Took me an hour to contact a human, who promised a replacement, but then, after 48 hours, they changed their mind and offered a discount on a new one. So, they cause the problem, they cause the need for a new unit and I have to pay. Do not buy or deal with Ring.
