Perfect for what I needed

Perfect for what I needed during my road trips for work. I travel most of the year for a living and this thing is amazing and is perfect for showering when I find myself without a bath after a couple days and want to clean off. It's also amazing for hosing off gear and dirty pups too.

Excellent quality and performs beyond my expectations . I opted for the 10 gallon model and am not disappointed . Plenty of water for showering and rinsing the dishes .

Doesn’t hold pressure

The concept is great, but even with a new filler plus with Teflon tape, the shower still doesn’t hole pressure. It s not fun climbing in top of my roof rack to pressurize it every time I want to shower. The other annoying thing is that I cannot find a phone number to call and talk to anyone. Not too impressed.

Road Shower awesome - use it all the time

Road Shower is awesome. I spent some time researching, especially DIY [a few of my friends have gone that route]. I chose the 7 gallon model. It is easy to get int on and off my car [without water], and set it up. I had planned to just leave it on my car for the summer and fall, but as it is so simple, I am taking it on and off.
After standing on my car with a bike pump to get the pressure to 65psi, I did invest in an automatic pressurizer.
My main reason for getting the Road Shower was to rinse salt water off kayaking equipment. Live in VT, travel to CT, RI, MA, ME to paddle along the coast. Equipment will last longer if the salt is immediately washed off it versus waiting until I return home. Figure the Road Shower was an investment that will save me money in the long run.

It really works well

It really works well. It is very easy to install, and use. On an average day the water temperature is regularly above 110f.

I did have to pinch the clamps for the hose a bit tighter due to a leak, but it was easy to fix.

I haven't used the included mounting hardware instead opting to use the Yakima mounts that I had with my rack.

Buy a Road Shower!

Great product and even better customer service! Having an easy to use shower on demand while on long trips is like hitting the reset button for how long you can stay off grid.

The Perfect Water Solution for Camping

Sturdy construction and the water pressure is great. 50psi is enough to empty 10 gallons of water. Great camp showers and great for general camp water. Love it!!! My buddy took one look and ordered the 4 gallon model for his JKU Rubicon.

We haven’t used the new one yet but the customer service and order process was fantastic. I look forward to not pumping the shower as often.

We wish we could return it for a refund...

Sorry to say that our experience has been less than stellar. It began with the stainless fasteners seizing up and having to be cut off on the initial install. We called, and were told that the manual warned against this. No such verbiage exists in the manual.

I called another time to ask about the side clips and if they can be removed. The girl made sure to inform me that if I lost them, I’d have to visit their online parts store to purchase new ones. Thanks for the unsolicited advice.

The huge, glaring fail in this product is that there are no baffles added to the internals of the tank, so the water sloshes violently about inside. Water, weighing 8.35#/gallon can create some very powerful forces when braking or cornering in a moving vehicle.

As a result, this 75+ pound vessel placed enormous force on my roof rack, which in turn damaged the paint on my otherwise flawless and expensive truck. All of this damage on just one short trip.

The good news is that, thanks to Craigslist, the next poor sucker will take it off my hands and I will only be out the difference plus a very expensive paint repair bill. What a mistake! 😡

***Thanks for the reply. Your attack on my character speaks volumes about your company’s ethics and values. Please, please don’t edit or delete a word of it! 😂

Sorry to hear you are not happy with your purchase. Our customers are free to write whatever they want in these reviews. Obviously most people are happy with our products and have a great experience, or we would not be selling thousands and not have the review rating that we do.

To address these issues and to help our customers:

1) We hope our customers are aware that the stainless nuts and stainless bolts may bind or seize. Not often, but it happens. We have mentioned this in a few review responses. We also send out an email to each purchaser reminding them of this. The solution is to lube the bolts prior to install. Our online owners manual is most current. Some of the printed manuals may not have this info, as they were printed long ago. https://roadshower.com/tmp/roadshower4/roadshower%204%20manual%20pages.pdf

2) Yes..the clips can be removed. No problem. And yes, if lost, we have those parts and all the other parts in our online store. Most people love our customer service representative, Kelsey.

3) You are completely wrong about the sloshing water forces. It's not an issue. You may hear some water sloshing if the tank is not full, true, but little force is generated. The unit may weigh 75+ full, but again, no forces are generated other than by the weight of the unit and the momentum of your car turning and accelerating. If this was the issue you say, we would not be successful selling our products.

4) Though you never quite say this....Your unit fell off your rack and damaged your vehicle. Now you want to blame the Road Shower for your mistake. Nice! This is a known issue if the nuts are not tightened in the beginning and checked now and then. On the warning label on the unit and in the owners manual we recommend checking and tightening nuts after 20 minutes on a rough road. The mounting brackets have some bend in them and need to be checked as they break in. Continue to check and tighten as needed. After a few checks they will be as tight as they can be, and you should be good to go.

Bottom line...please read your owners manual and the warning sticker prior to use. If your unit falls off please take responsibility for it.

We purchased this for a camping trip…

We purchased this for a camping trip out to Western Montana this past week. The install was straight forward, however the first carriage bolt to the front would not stay in lock position & I could not remove it to replace it with another one, so I had to make due. Prior to getting to camp, we filled & pressurized the system, once in camp the water never really got warm even though it was in the 70's & sunny=cold showers for all! We then tried to use warm water from the camp stove which helped until the hose blew off from the factory installed clamp that could not be adjusted. We then discovered that the water pressure ran out leaving the unit still half full. So then we did a side by side comparison test with our cheap solar bag shower system[same 4 gal. amount], the bag was ready within 4 hours of full sun @ 92F, the Road Shower was lagging back @72F. We were really hoping this would be a great addition to our tent camping experience, but were very disappointed for what it cost. The build quality is amazing & the first installation went smooth other than the carriage bolt spinning. The unit looked great on our rig-2015 Ram 2500 Cummins 4x4 Black with ARE full wedge top & rack. I was hoping that at the very least the height of the unit would be enough for gravity feed without pressure @ 8' high, but pressure ran out after one quick & cold shower. Not sure if elevation affects it, we were @ 6000'E. We hope we can return for full return.

Hi Thomas,
It's clear from your review that you had a frustrating experience with your Road Shower. We hope you will give the product another try as some of the issues you experienced are addressed in the manual, and others can be fixed with a bit of troubleshooting here, as well as via phone or email at customerservice@roadshower.com as needed.

The bolts used are stainless steel and without lubrication or if threaded in a misaligned fashion they will seize or become stuck. The one you mentioned can be cut and a new one can be installed, but be sure to lubricate the bolt prior to installation. Here are the nut and bolt specs: 5/16-18 x 1 1/2″ Carriage Bolt, 18-8 Stainless Steel for the short bolts, 5/16-18 x 2.5″ Carriage Bolt, 18-8 Stainless Steel for the long bolts, 5/16-18 Nylon Insert Lock Nut, 18-8 Stainless Steel.

It would help to know how you filled your shower. it sounds like you may have used the hose to hose method. It's a good one for quick trips, but not best for maximizing water capacity or pressure. If you ever end up running out of pressure and not having another method of pressurizing, you can unscrew the fill cap all the way and gravity feed the remaining water. This can be good for washing hands or filling a tub for dishes, but is obviously less powerful.

Additionally it would help to know how you had your shower oriented. It will warm in the air, but not as quickly if it is parked in the shade or facing away from the sun. It's difficult to believe that a Road Shower parked in full sun at 92F would remain at 72F, unless the water added to the unit was near freezing to start.

We genuinely hope a reading of the manual, the tips above, and any further discussion needed will help you find enjoyment of and an appreciation for our products which have been engineered to last for years.
