Great Alternative to a Home Built Version.

Awesome product. Thought about building one, but didn't want the contamination from PVC on my skin our in my body if I need emergency water. Very easy to install, and use is a breeze. Very happy with our purchase.

Awesome product

Awesome product! Just a few small flaws make it less than 5 stars.
The clips that hold the hose to the side of the tank don't keep the hose secure. Had to pull over multiple times and re hook the hose to the tank, before I finally added additional velcro straps to secure.
Secondly, the hose clamps on the hose failed on the first use (at well below the max recommended pressure), and had to be replaced.

Excellent product - SUPERB customer service. Rough shipping issues were handled in timely manner.

Updated: Within a few hours of my email, customer service and then the president of the company himself contacted me to remedy my unit's issues with several spare parts. I never requested any parts. Roadshower customer service clearly goes above and beyond expectations to satisfy their customers. I would recommend this company's product to anyone with no hesitation!

Important to note the issues I encountered were fixed easily enough at home with readily available materials and tools. Engineering and design are top notch; were never part of my complaint.

Apparently the defective parts are the result of the challenges shipping a unit of this size by UPS across the country. All issues I brought up, even teflon tape and lack of a hex wrench are being visited by Roadshower before the next batch ships to customers.

For the record, here are the issues encountered -- and remedied without question:
1. The extra brass hose valve was somehow crushed into an oval; would not screw into its fitting without a bit of hammering.
-- A new hose is being sent.
2. No hex wrench to remove the plug for purchased shower nozzle. I'm a cyclist so I had one handy after a bit of searching.
-- Hex wrenches to be included in future shipments batch.
3. One of the velcro hose straps installed on the tank was ripped nearly in half. It came apart before first use.
-- Two velcro straps are being sent with bigger washers and better screws which are included in the next batch going out.
4. The metal shower nozzle hose shipped with a permanent crimp.
-- A new hose is being sent.
5. One of the aluminum hose clips had screws that were loose and stripped (possibly from shipping).
-- Roadshower is sending better screws for this too.
6. Teflon plumbers tape was necessary to remedy normal dripping at the hose connectors.
-- Teflon tape will be included to new purchasers as well.

I can't say enough how happy I am with the superb customer service and prompt attention my email received.

Kudos and happy trails!

Hi Mike, Thank you for the purchase, and we are sorry you had any problems with your Road Shower 4. Thank you for the feedback, as it is important for us to know the issues. Thank you for recognizing our customer service.

Also thank you for contacting us directly so we could address the issues you brought up. We are happy to send some parts out to replace the damaged ones. However, we appreciate that you were willing to fix the issues.

UPS is not always gentle with the product so some shipping damage is inevitable on a few of the units. We will always respond to damage in shipping and will send replacement parts, issue some compensation, or take the unit back.

Happy and disappointed....

The shower works great, just as expected. Nothing like being able to rinse yourself off after a couple days on dirt trails. My only complaint is the mounting system. The steel carriage bolts and aluminum mounting track don’t work very well. I had my shower mounted securely to my Prinsu rack system but after 3 days of a 6 day off road trip the tank shifted forward, I assume by the water sloshing around. This caused the steel carriage bolts to strip the aluminum track under the tank. I had to secure my road shower with tie down straps until I got home and was able to order 2 more sets of mounting hardware from the company, which was $40. Now I have 4 sets of mounts instead of the two that’s provided. It seems very secure, as it did before but we’ll see if it comes loose again on my next trip.. this is a review for the Road Shower 4 / 7 gallon shower.

Thanks for the feedback. I am glad you like the Road Shower performance. I am sorry you had troubles with it coming loose. Since this is a potential problem for anybody, this deserves a response. The Road Shower 4 can come loose on rough roads. The mounting brackets are steel and have a slight amount of bend. The rough roads can create a gap between the bracket and the nut, which makes it get loose. Our warning label and manual state that you should check the nuts after 20 minutes of rough roads. Tighten. Then check again, tighten if needed. Keep checking until you are sure they won't loosen anymore. Think of it as a break in period for the mounting brackets. The carriage bolts and nuts are stainless steel. Be sure to lube the bolts prior to install to prevent the nuts from seizing during install and on removal. (That doesn't happen often, but if it does it is a big hassle to cut the bolts and lubing prevents it.)

I love this thing

I love this thing! The hose attachment was squished upon shipping but I went to the hardware store and put a new end piece on it. It heats up fast and with the shower attachment it’s sweet. I’ve just rinsed off after mtn bike rides with the hose lately. It’ll burn you if it gets too hot! It’s the perfect set up for weekend expeditions. I love the fact I can fill it with my hose or pour in water from the top and pressurize with a pump. Such a great investment for weekend warriors!

A high quality functioning water system

This is an awesome addition to our disbursed camping experience. The only thing that would be good to measure is usage. However, over time I am sure we will be capable of estimating. We got six showers before needing a fill-up, five fairly quick showers and one where I washed my shoulder-length hair. A high quality simple functioning water system.

The Road Shower does what it is…

The Road Shower does what it is supposed to do. Fast shipping, mounts securely, great water pressure. It is perfect for our camping, mudrun, sandy beach life. The best part is that i dont have to worry about it warping or exploding from high pressure. I like having that peace of mind. Also, one of the connectors was bent during shipping and they immediately replaced with no questions asked.

Installed and tested

I just installed the Road Shower (7 gal), filled it up and applied some air pressure. It tested very well so far and I look forward to trying it on the trail and see how well it heats. I ordered the shower attachment, installed the valves and quick connect. It works as advertised, at least in my driveway :). Installation is very simple and it comes with everything you need to install except for an allen wrench to remove the plug for the shower attachment. Top ratings from me and a very well designed product.

Built like a tank

Built like a tank. The only improvement I can see would be a sight glass on the side so you could see how much water remains. Otherwise I'm really impressed with the quality. It's a little expensive compared to a hot water solar bag but way more convenient once installed. Would definitely recommend this if you do a lot f summer camping.

Be careful mounting

I'm only going to criticize for the company's sake. Your alloy is so soft that the installation bolts dig into the mounting channels. Especially because you provide nylon lock nuts. It'd be better off with lock washers or at least provide torque specs. It was a huge pain to change my install because the bolts were stuck in the mounting channels.

Thanks for letting us know. I am sorry about that. Occasionally the nuts cold weld. This can happen with stainless and stainless nylock nuts ...it is called galling (google that). For people reading this, we recommend a little oil or lube on the bolt before installing the nut. This will solve that problem. I hope the rest of your experience goes well.

great concept, but a little too cheaply made

Quick delivery, and great concept, but a little too cheaply made. It's obvious opening the the box that this comes from China with corners being cut. Several of the lock nuts jammed on the attachment bolts, with the bolts then spinning in the channel - forcing me to saw them off so I could start over. What should have been simple install turned into a hassle. Get your own bolts and nuts (not lock nuts) and use some loctite, or double nut it (and don't think about mounting it off the side channel - not off-road worthy). Also, the finish seems more like black spray paint than a good enamel or powder coat, so easily scratches. A bit disappointing, but I'll still be using it. I would have been happy to pay $50 more for better quality. It wouldn't take much to make this right.

Thanks for the feedback. I am sorry that happened to you and I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else. We use stainless steel nuts for non-rusting in an outdoor use and also on boats on the sea. We say in our owners manual that sometimes stainless steel nuts and bolts will gall or seize. To prevent this, use a little oil or lube before installing...just rub some on the bolt. The side slot is off-road worthy, but we recommend 3 mounting brackets instead of 2, in case one would fail, you don't want the whole unit ripping off. We do use a high quality powder coating. https://roadshower.com/tmp/roadshower4/rsmanual.pdf - hopefully that is the manual you got.

So far I love this thing

So far I love this thing. I actually made my own version for my Jeep and use a compressor to create water pressure. For my current overland build (Chevy Colorado Diesel) I wanted something a little more durable and something that will hold air pressure better as I will be using a compressor on this system as well. I really love how the Roadshower holds air pressure and the many mounting options. I was a little bummed that they arent manufactured here in the US but other than that I am really pleased with it.

It would be great to have a third…

It would be great to have a third support bracket for the big one “without it being an extra $$$$$”. Also the hardware, ie screws and bolts are garbage. The unit it self does what it advertised to do. Don’t be cheap on the little things,,,

Thanks for the feedback. We recommend 3 brackets only if mounting from the side slot. Since most people mount from the bottom slot, the extra mounting bracket would drive up the cost for everyone if we included it. We feel the stainless steel bolts, washers, and nylock nuts are pretty darn good. They are definitely more costly than zinc or brass bolts/nuts. Please lube your stainless steel bolts prior to installing the nut to prevent seizing.

Preliminary test . . .

I haven't yet mounted the RoadShower to my van but I did test it out on a 70° day resting on a couple of saw horses. I filled it from the garden hose. The water was warm enough for a shower in about 2 hours. It was easy to pressurize with my tire inflator and with the shower head attachment, ran continuously for almost 6 minutes. The shower is well made and should last a long time. I'm looking forward to my next road trip to really try it out.
