Avoid at all costs. This is a terrible company that seems intent on driving customers out of business with relentless price increases and aggressive tactics.
I’ve just received a call from Ruby Energy informing me that prices will rise again by a further 35% tomorrow — despite already having a price increase on 14th April 2026 which is completely unreasonable.
During the call, I was told I could leave my contract without penalty — but only if I went through a specific company, Business Energy Direct. I was also told I wouldn’t be allowed to switch to any other supplier, which immediately raised red flags. After speaking with Business Energy Direct, their prices also seemed unusually high, and I’ve since discovered the two companies are connected. That feels incredibly misleading.
To make matters worse, I received another call from Ruby an hour later and I was pressured to make an immediate decision. I was told that if I didn’t agree right away, I would automatically be moved onto the new, higher rates the next day. When I asked for the new prices in writing, I was refused — I was told that sending them via email would count as me agreeing to them, which makes no sense at all.
The entire experience has been shocking, stressful, and deeply unprofessional. I would strongly advise anyone to stay well clear of this company.

I strongly advise against signing any contract with Ruby Energy.
Our experience has been extremely frustrating and stressful from start to finish. We were misled during the contract signing process and ended up locked into a 4-year agreement where we were paying at least double the expected rate, with no realistic way to exit early.
As the contract was nearing its end, we started receiving persistent calls from different phone numbers, clearly trying to pressure us into a new agreement. Some of these attempts even involved false claims that we had already agreed to extend for another 3 years — which was completely untrue and caused unnecessary stress.
Leaving this company feels almost impossible. Even after finally ending the contract over two months ago, they are still holding onto our deposit from more than 4 years ago. I have repeatedly had to chase them for a refund. They send emails saying I need to call them to process it, but when I do, they just promise repayment “next month” — and nothing happens.
This has been, without question, the worst energy provider we have ever dealt with. Avoid at all costs.
