Terrible Delivery Service at Safeway/Albertsons Fort Washington MD
Grocery delivery was sent to wrong address, even though specific instructions were given to Safeway in Fort Washington Maryland. Called Albertson/Safeway customer service and they stated once delivered they could not do anything about it. Now I am out of groceries and money I paid. This store and delivery service is terrible. Dropping my association with Albertson and Safeway.
I use Safeway.com and Drive Up and Go often
I use Safeway.com weekly to find and order my groceries. As a person who has difficulty with my mobility I sure appreciate the drive up and go. I can almost 100% handle all issues with groceries on my own this way.
The workers are kind and helpful and I get exactly what I request 98% of the time. Mistakes are infrequent and any mistake is fixed by Safeway through chat and reimbursements to my bank card.
I highly recommend the Safeway Drive Up and Go.

Prices are way out of control. Everything in Hawaii is a dollar or more. $9.00 for a jar of seasoning. $20.00 for a sliver o f salmon .
At self checkout a woman next to me had a large do.g There are signs out front of store that say no dogs allowed. The dog started sniffing me and licking me. I pushed it away with my leg twice. I asked the lady to get her dog away from me. She ignored me. So I said it again louder.She turned to me and told me to f off and mind my own business and walked away. Thats when I lost it. I told her to go f herself. The self checkout manager came up to me asked me what she said. I told him. I also asked him why he didnt tell the woman to leave the store with the dog. He had no reply, except to say yeah.
Safeway delivery two thumbs down
I placed an order for home delivery of groceries from Safeway today. I got a text saying my driver was on the way so I went to my front door so I could watch for them. while I stood there, I got a text saying your order has been delivered.
It took me quite a while to figure out how to even report that my order was not delivered. There wasn’t an option there to say I didn’t receive my order. I had to go through a lot of unnecessary rigmarole, talking to customer service, etc. to request a refund which I won’t get for three or four days! ridiculous! I’ll never order delivery from this Safeway in Denver at Yale again I thought they used someone other than Uber to deliver the orders
Prime rib open leaking meat juice
Ordered a prime rib for dinner through my Paid Safeway Delivery App and they bagged the prime rib with the green beans. The plastic on the prime rib was completely torn off top and the green beans had meat juice on them. What a waste. They need to train on bagging techniques to avoid cross contamination. Also they need to ensure the meat is packaged correctly.

I give Safeway five stars because I’ve been shopping with them for years and years owever, I give the guy in the deli a negative one. They need to get rid of this employee. He is not a keeper. His name is Chris P. I approached the deli to get a whole chicken on sale for 599 my dog loves them and so do I. I could see that he was busy, but I just wanted to know where the whole chickens were so I kind of in a loud voice said whole chickens? and then he looked up at me and he said you’ll have to wait So I wait two or three minutes no other workers around I don’t see the chickens anywhere around and then I said louder pretty loud. I just need a whole chicken and he pretended he couldn’t hear me again. So by the time that he got done doing whatever he was doing a good 6 -8 minutes went by When he finally gets done and approaches the counter. I’m pretty mad and I just asked his name and he quickly covered up his name badge and told me it was none of my business. I said I would just like to have your name please. He said you can get the hell out of the store if you don’t like it you’re not getting my name what are you gonna do about it you can leave the store. I said I think not and said you need to talk to me like I’m a customer. I’ll talk to you how I want. I said let me tell you what I’ve been shopping in the store for 20 years. You will not be kicking me out of the store as I push the cart towards the cashiers. Red hot when I get to the cashier I am livid. Never did get to ask for my chicken, but I did tell the cashier scanning about my experience and they quickly told me he is a problem. He did the same thing to me the other day on my lunch hour as it is, we don’t get time we have to hurry, but he made me wait over five minutes and I said that’s exactly what he did to me, but he was very rude when I asked him his name and covered up his name badge and told me to leave the store. Well meanwhile, the guy had called Customer Service to actually complain about me. That lady had had experience with him before because she quickly came over to me, told the cashier to give me $10 off the order and profusely apologize to me I was still shaking. I showed her my hand and I said I have not been this pissed off in a long time a lot of years and she said I am so so sorry. I’m taking this to my manager tomorrow and this will be dealt with. Meanwhile, she was able to get me my chicken:) That man needs to be fired. Safeway don’t hire angry in adequate non-customer service people it’s killing your business and it’s hurting your customers. What happened tonight hurt me it was so uncalled for it was disgusting. I love Safeway and I do still give you five stars because I know normally that would never happen please get rid of the guy and other guys like him your WAY BETTER THAN THAT.
Holbrook, AZ store
Holbrook store. I have started checking my receipts the last 3 times I shopped. Each time I have been overcharged! 1st time $9.23, 2nd time$9.03, and today $1.03.
No matter the time it seems only two lanes open. Today when they know kids walk to get their lunch, they made them wait as well.....these are your future customers! Everytime I come in they are understaffed. Always waiting in line for min. 20 minutes to check out. Carts of food in the aisles waiting to be stocked!
Today I didn't even leave the store before checking my receipt! Again, I had to wait in another line due to being overcharged! "Customer service" rolled her eyes and shook her head as soon as I told her I had been overcharged. I told her "how dare you she your head", this is the third time I've been overcharged!! She pulled out the weekly flyer and waved it in front of my face to show me the "correct" amount. I told her that's why I was standing in line. Then she wanted to see the cheese. I didn't have it out because everything has just been bagged. She came around the counter flipping one bag then the other bc I wasn't going fast enough. After all of the attitude I got $1.03 back, and spent at least 40 minutes waiting in line!! I will continue checking my receipts even if it's. 10!!
I do not leave reviews, but as tight as folks budgets are, this is inexcusable! Within two weeks I have been overcharged nearly $25.!

In a nut shell, I purchased a $225 Gift Card at Safeway Mission St Santa Cruz, only to find out it had already been used and resealed. Went back to Safeway and they launched an investigation. Since then, I find out that Safeway on Mission St and Corporate will not refund gift cards, I need to be refunded by Apple. Apple told me that Safeway is responsible. Meanwhile , I am out $225 and everyone that knows this situation feels "it's Safeway"s responsibility." What I distain about Safeway is; this is the first and only complaint I have had with Safeway in over 60 years and they will not stand by us.

This company discriminates against the poor and/or disabled. I cannot drive, I depend on delivery. I signed up and paid in advance for a year of their freshpass only to discover, AFTER PAYING that the 5$ per month coupon (the only thing that made the pass worth it) only applies to in person purchases?
Why on gods green earth would you discriminate against your customers who need help the most? That is completely unfair and should have been mentioned prior to sign-up. It is WRONG. Shame on you Safeway, you have lost my respect and all future business. During my recent shopping experience, I observed a significant price increase at Safeway. While I typically purchase Minute Maid Lemonade from Walmart, it was currently unavailable. Consequently, I visited Safeway, where the price exceeded $3.00, whereas Walmart offers it for $1.89. The employees at Safeway appeared visibly dissatisfied.
Safeway Deli food is awful, only thing worse is their customer service
11/8/2025 Cle Elum - bought packaged deli food after deli close. Food was not edible. Staff was insulting when I attempted to return the food.
I froze it and am sending it to the health department. Was an unbelievable experience - the ex car salesman guy at the Issaquah self checkout lanes kept mistating what I said - and the Issaquah store manager refused to take back a purchase from another store. I called the Cle Elum store who said they should take it back.
Tried to reach out on their customer service page - which letys you type everything in and then does nothing. Safeway is also Ralphs - so this is what happens with a monopoly that absolutely does no care about their customers

I go to this store (barbur blvd store) multiple times per week, normally no problems as I recognize many people working there. Today was different. The big guy who handles can redemption room was beyond belief. He was rude, may I say hostile. What made it worse is the other two people in room said he is always that way. I felt unsafe and he wore a mask which made it impossible to understand him. He said I called him names which was untrue. I complained to store manager Connor who wholeheartedly backed up his guy. He totally believed the employee and told me I could leave. I asked him for the corporate number and he gave me a wrong number. I felt disrespected, he called me a liar and I felt unsafe. I will NOT go back for these reasons.
Not Soup! Soup is savory!!
I got the seasonal pumpkin bisque while sick not expecting it to be have ungodly amounts of sugar on top of the natural sugar! It’s not even soup it’s basically pudding or something, you can make it at home with pumpkin purée because they made it cheaply, plus it’s so bland and you can only taste sweet potatoes for a pumpkin bisque that’s just lazy and addicting gross filler yet still leaving it underwhelming, if you love soup being the comforting savory dish it is you will hate this too!!!!

By far some of the rudest employee's anywhere I have come in contact with! As a customer on a regular basis I have dealt with deli workers at Safeway who will socialize with each other, and respond rudely to customers that "we will be with you in a moment". They act as if we are troubling them to do their job. While they are gossiping about personal lives verses taking care of customers. Yes we could hear them. Yesterday evening at the Vancouver location yet again. If someone is truly busy and halfway kind I would be very understanding. However, Its so insulting that I have finally decided to shop elsewhere permanently. Lazy, rude, sarcastic employees last night yet again! How do these people keep their jobs when they obviously do not want to do them.

Since June 14, 2025, I've attempted in every way possible, to get a refund from Safeway for a voided purchase due to their register system going down.
Yes, for over 4 months now, I still have not been refunded for voided transaction, which charged my debit card, but still hasn't been reversed. Local store staff told me, "don't worry it will automatically show up as a refund in a few days". Tick tock... still no refund as of 10/23/25. And this is after:

Filing a grievance with Safeway Corporate Customer Service
Providing the local store director with documented proof and followed up at least 3 times... he promised to call back with a refund update the next morning... that was two weeks ago.
At this point I'm livid. The lack of concern and follow-up proves Safeway could care less about their customers.
They justified raising prices during the COVID pandemic, but never brought them back to pre-COVID levels... and have continued to jack up prices ever since.
Nothing, is ever truly "on sale" at Safeway... they'll raise a price by 100% then put it on sale at 25% off... well, you get it. Also, they're charging more for items where they've decreased the volume amount or item quantity, i.e., cottage cheese container volume has been decreased from 16 oz to 12 oz, yet the price has increased... that's a slick way of increasing a price by 75% without making it obvious. Another example is increasing the number of packaged soft drinks from a 12-pack to an 8-pack, then charging more for 25% less items -- and they get away with it because there's no oversight!
Safeway is a corporate greed machine who's obviously coordinating with other big grocery companies to price fix. Without regulations on grocery companies, they are free to covertly price fix and show record earnings so upper management and shareholders rake in huge earnings... nefarious business practices, at best.
