Disgusting Food and Poor Service

We visited a few weeks ago on a Saturday evening. The customer service was poor, but the food was decent, so we decided to give it another try on a quieter Wednesday. That was a mistake.

Despite it being much less busy, the service was still poor, our drinks order was wrong, and the food was absolutely appalling. I ordered the chicken parmo – it was almost entirely béchamel sauce and cheese, with very little chicken, and what chicken there was was tough and overcooked. The chips tasted like they had been left out and reheated, which was disgusting.

This experience has completely put us off. There may have been a different chef on, but the drop in quality is unacceptable.

We will not be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone.

Disappointed would not go back again

We have always had a great Sunday lunch at Sambuca windmill so we decided to try the evening menu and it was a real let down, we arrive and got a table I ordered the black pudding with belly pork and my wife ordered the tempura tiger prawns when they came I was not impressed 1 piece of black pudding 1 piece of belly pork with peppercorn sauce on top it was not nice bland no real flavour, my wife’s prawns the batter was thick and greasy the prawns were over cooked my wife gets tempura prawns most places we go and it was the worst she had ever had then the mains came my wife had the mixed meat sizzler in a sweet chilli sauce it was actually in a tomato sauce the first bit of meat she tried was just a lump of gristle and I tried it and it was unpleasant so we sent it back my fish platter was not the best either looked like it was thrown on the plate prawns were over cooked sauce was watery fish and salmon was overcooked it was ok nothing special for me the whole experience was disappointing and not enough thought gone into the cooking of the food and presentation we will not be going back again good hard earned money wasted

Like eating on a conveyor belt.

Second visit here after sampling the Carvery a couple of years ago. This time our visit wasn`t very good. The place was very busy, which would normally be a good sign but just meant that the whole experience was rushed. We ordered and the food appeared very quickly, too quickly as my husbands burger was barely cooked in the middle. I had Carbonara which is impossible to get wrong and was nice enough. The main issue we had was the staff came and asked 3 times if we were finished eating, even though my husband still clearly had half of his food left. We felt like an inconvenience and the whole experience felt like being on a conveyor belt. When I paid the bill I was asked if everything was alright to which I replied not really, but the server wasn`t interested enough to ask what was lacking. Suffice to say, we won`t be back!

Sunday carvery- Plenty vegetable, poor service

Sunday carvery- Plenty vegetable choices but wasn't too pleased at the end of the queue when it came it came to the roast potatoes a server was there wearing a glove and picked up a handful of pots and put them on my plate then swilled my dinner with gravy.
After finishing carvery we all wanted a dessert, our table was empty and had informed the girl who took our plates away we wanted a dessert we were left sitting. 15mins later I asked the lady showing people to their tables for dessert and she had someone then serve us. As we left we passed people who said they had booked tables for 30mins earlier and the place still had no table for them. Totally overbooked. Won't go again.
