Complete failure of basic care for elderly customers.

I am sharing our experience with State Bank of India UK Coventry Branch, to highlight a severe breakdown in customer care.
As a couple in our late 70s, we were subjected to heavy-handed treatment over a routine KYC review. The bank sent a single email and, when we did not respond immediately, jumped straight to sending a formal letter threatening to place restrictions on my account—without making any attempt to call us first.
When raised, staff and senior customer care initially insisted their aggressive approach was completely justified, showing total indifference even when informed we would be withdrawing both of our accounts. It was only after a prolonged dispute and formal escalation that they admitted fault, revoked the restriction threat, and offered a token £75 goodwill payment for the service failure.
A £75 payment is a trivial gesture given the severe anxiety caused, and it certainly does not excuse a bank's total disregard for its duty of care toward older clients. We are now closing our accounts and moving our funds elsewhere.

Incompetence Following Bereavement: Ignored Instructions & Zero Resolution

I have been dealing with the total incompetence of SBI for over a month now, since I first went in to report my father's passing and request that the joint accounts be moved solely into my 81-year-old mother's name and to close 2 fixed deposit accounts when they matured at the end of July 2026.
I had the misfortune of having to visit the Southall branch on two separate occasions. Both experiences were extremely negative and uncomfortable. With a heatwave situation in progress in London, their air conditioning was practically non-existent. On both visits, I had to wait over 45 minutes to be seen, and the water “cooler” was actually giving out HOT water.
After the immense hassle and frustration of those two visits, I decided to deal with SBI in writing only. I gave quite specific instructions about closing two Fixed Deposit Accounts in my parents’ names upon maturity well in advance of the maturity date, and requested to place the monies into the current account. They assured me they would register my Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) and resolve this.
Instead, I have had back-and-forth emails for several weeks now and absolutely nothing has been resolved. They cannot even give me an estimated date as to when they will actually finish processing the LPA via their legal team, despite me providing evidence of everything they requested and more.
Worse still, during my branch visits, they actually had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to open an account with them (as if THAT would ever happen after their continued incompetence), alongside asking me several times if I was sure I didn't want to extend the Fixed Deposit Accounts. It honestly feels as if they do not want to release the funds to my mother, who, as already mentioned, is 81 and unable to visit the branch in person – on my second visit they even said they couldn’t do certain things without her being present at the branch even though I have a fully registered LPA for property and finance matters for her and provided them with an access code which the Office of the Public Guardian advised was all they should need (of course that wasn’t enough for SBI)! Every single week my mother is asking me if things have been resolved with SBI yet, and I am forced to tell her they are apparently still processing the request.
To top it all off, SBI have gone ahead and extended both fixed deposit accounts anyway, despite me advising them well in advance of their maturity date. I cannot call their actions anything other than incompetent. Their email responses remain incredibly vague; they just keep stating that their legal department is still dealing with it, while remaining completely unable to provide any actual date as to when this will be resolved. Unacceptable service.

SBI UK website

This is specifically about the SBI UK website...frankly it is a piece of rubbish(wanted to use a stronger four letter word)...the people who devloped and maintain this webiste should hang their heads in shame. Takes ages to log in...OTP arrives way after the site times out. I spoke to a developer and he says the scripting of the site is very sketchy and a five year old could have done a better job! The actual banking app is no better.

Very WORST SBI yono app

Very WORST SBI yono app, This is the most unique SBI BANK app in the world, if you ever try to open anything in it, it is very difficult and very worst operating system in this app.
Very very difficult to use a urgently time.
I don't understand why this SBI bank has been chosen by the government. As a big bank, they have removed small banks, but I don't know why these government people are not removing this bank in the list. It is the most WORSTS bank.
Please guys open SBI bank reviews, If you not believe.
You will understand everything after seeing the review.

An absolute shi*tshow

An absolute shi*tshow. The UK branch in london is pathetic. Their english in emails does not makes sense. They froze our account and despite repeatedly sending the documents requested, they could not clearly explain why the account payments could not be made and what was required. No person to speak to on the phone. Have to go to the branch in person. Disgusting system and processes.
