nice outside, sour inside.

Lovely venue and nice atmosphere unfortunately doesn't match the service. I was recommended a wine to go with my main meal but after having to remind the waiter, it didnt turn up until my meal was almost finished. My partner had also finished their drink when the mains arrived however they were never asked if they would like another. Furthermore after ordering my desert which had an optional paired whiskey at an additional cost, the whiskey never arrived... and no one noticed until after our desert plates were cleared. No complaints on the food. The worst part was overhearing two waiters talking about stripclubs, really helped keep my food down.

Went here as had been recommended

Went here as had been recommended, ordered fish and chips. Haddock had no flavour the batter was not cooked through. Can’t speak for other mains but think I’d have been better going to the chip shop couple of doors along . Also extremely expensive. On a positive waiting staff good.

One of the worst service experiences…

One of the worst service experiences I've encountered at one of the most expensive restraunts I've eaten in.

The table was booked online and card details required. The booking portal asked where we'd like to be seated but upon arrival we were not were we asked to be seated. The menu online was very simple but online lots of information was omitted. I ordered a pint of Edinburgh Gold which was £6.50 and this was not to my taste at all but at that price I wasn't going to let it go to waste ☺️. The cheapest glass of wine on the menu was nearly £14 which was nice but nothing to write home about.

Now the food- personally I had the steak pie which was very tasty but for a dish that cost £20 it came with no veg or side it was the pie only in a modest size dish. I ordered the mash with it which was an extra £6!! It was very ordinary mash and certainly not worth the cost. My partner had the fish pie which had a measley amount of fish inside and really was more egg.

Service - I don't even know how to rate this as we barely received any at all!!! The bald fella (like myself) didn't interact with us at all, he literally said as few words as possible. He reached over without saying excuse me and at the end of our mains brought us dessert menus without asking. We'd decided early on to end the experience as early as possible.

To summarise the food was tasty but portions are honestly small!!!

Prices are outrageous our total was £65 for 2 mains a side and 2 drinks!!!

Service was non existent!!! Was it because we were 2 blokes and our waiter isn't a tolerant person? Had he a bad day and brought his problems to work? Lord knows but save your money there are much better restaurants than this one at a fraction of the price.

The best lobster in town

The best lobster in town . Have waited for a while for this to be back on the menu. Lobster, garlic butter and chips, was so delicious. I am going back soon to have this again. Love all the food here but this is my favourite. 10/10.

“!!! Very Poor Service and over priced food not worth the visit !!!”

Despite lots of staff jumping about everyone seems to be caught up in their own importance Very Poor Service and overpriced food not that great or exciting. The Scran and Scallie is not worth the visit you will get left on your own for long periods waiting to get served and even then, they don’t listen to you the customer the person who pays and keeps the staff in jobs. I did take the trouble of contacting them and received a generic email back to which replied then got a email from Tom asking me to communicate with his P/A I did but received no reply. Clearly the Scran And Scallie and Tom Kitchen Don’t care about the customer and rely on churn
