We had our ceiling replaced by SDM through our insurers. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the quality of the work overall and the experience was more stressful than it ought to have been.

The plasterer didn't go right to the edges or into the corners, so the decorator had to try to fill the gaps themselves, resulting in a rough finish. The first decorator didn't fully remove the previous lining paper on the upper walls, so scraps of it are still visible through the new paper applied. The second decorator, filling in for the first who was off sick, had to come back to patch over his own work with mastic as the paint where the walls meet the ceiling cracked within hours.

We had to push for proper cleaning to be done in our stairwell, with dust and debris left in it for over a fortnight. A specialist floor repair person had to attend to fix chips in our laminate floor, caused when several chunks torn out of the floor covering went unnoticed by the workmen.

It's always stressful having works done in your home. We chose SDM because we thought that they would make it as stress-free as possible with a high standard of work. We thought we'd be able to just let them get on with it, trusting that each tradesperson would get the job done properly, and that the worst we'd have to deal with would be the usual disruption of having people coming and going and making a bit of inevitable mess. Unfortunately it ended up being a case of us having to inspect each day's work and report the issues, with the next person to attend being tasked with trying to fix the mistakes as best as they could.

Our new ceiling looks better than our old water damaged one, but it has visible problems, which is a disappointing outcome. In the end we signed off on the work because we were tired of the disruption and the stress, plus we didn't have faith that SDM would be able to do any better than they already had given how many mistakes were made throughout.

One positive is that having one point of contact in their office was useful in terms of being able to report issues directly and have them attended to promptly. I only wish there had been far fewer issues!

While working at my property, all of the SDM workers were friendly and professional, also their work was of a high standard. As well as this, the SDM management team were always available and responded quickly to phone calls and emails. Thanks for a very good experience.

SDM were appointed by our insurers following a water leak in our kitchen, which damaged our flooring and work units.
The whole job was co-ordinated by Amy, who is a very professional, caring and skilled young lady. She kept us well informed at every stage of the project.
The job was completed to an exceptionally high standard by highly skilled tradesmen, who were courteous, conscientious and sensitive to our needs and are a credit to SDM.
We would have no hesitation in using SDM again in the future and highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a first class, hassle free experience in connection with any building or repair work across the various trades.

I would thoroughly recommend this company on the basis of my recent experience. SDM were appointed by my insurance company to rebuild a garden wall and door which had been blown down during Storm Arwen last November. A representative of the company first came to see the damage on 12 January and within 2 days SDM had started on site. Workmen from the company were present every weekday thereafter and the job was finished on 24 January. Bearing in mind this was a small multi-trades project, the company gave it their best attention and organised the sequencing of the various trades impeccably. As a retired architect, I was very impressed with this and the workmanship displayed.

SDM carried out plastering, wallpapering and painting to my hall. The work is perfect and each night they cleaned up after themselves. Really pleased from start to finish.

SDM was appointed by my Insurance Company in connection with accidental damage to my kitchen worktop when I could not find anyone local to even give me a quote. Amy in the office kept in touch and arranged a date which was convenient for me. The workmen turned up as arranged and over the course of the day diligently carried out the work to a high standard and cleaned up when finished. Many thanks to all involved.
Can I also add that over the course of the day there was 5 different workmen in the house, and it was surprising that not one pulled out a personal mobile phone to make any calls, only the work tablet with phone capabilities was used to co-ordinated the others. I would have no hesitation in recommending SDM to anyone looking to carry out work in their property.

A big thanks to everyone from SDM involved with the repair work to my home after a flood, especially Amy who coordinated & communicated each step brilliantly, The little things like going the extra mile to ensure we were happy with each stage and few other really great touches & customer care made all the difference to our family experience of what was supposed to be a very stressful event.

The workmanship was carried out to a very high standard which of course is the most important outcome. Highly recommended!

My insurance company appointed SDM to resolve problems following a bathroom leak. Standard of workmanship was first class and everyone we dealt with was friendly and conscientious, especially Amy who co-ordinated the whole operation with great efficiency. SDM was appointed by my Insurance Company in connection with accidental damage to my shower tray. I was very impressed with this Company in their dealings with the situation. The workmen who carried out the repairs were conscientious, well mannered and sensitive to my needs. They cleared everything away each night and I had very little to deal with. The office kept in touch with me to ensure that I was happy with all aspects of the work being done. SDM builders were the company chosen to carry out the building works on my home after a terrible house fire.
At the initial meeting my mind was put to rest that this was the right company for the job. I had everything explained on how the job would be undertaken and I was given a completion date.
The trades people were highly skilled , professional and extremely helpful.

The company were very prompt in arranging for the work to be carried out and this was done efficiently and neatly by the joiner who came to do the job. SDM was appointed by an insurance company to carry out extensive repairs following burst pipes. The property was a long way from our location but SDM managed the project effectively and efficiently without requiring onsite presence from us. Their tradesmen and project manager made loads of really helpful suggestions about the restoration work which simplified the project and at the same time delivered a much better result. I wouldn't hesitate to hire SDM again

Brilliant service from SDM when we had a leak through the kitchen ceiling. Leak promptly traced and repaired, with the plaster and paintwork completed a week later when everything had dried out. SDM kept us informed by confirming dates and times and the tradespersons were helpful, professional and courteous throughout. Highly recommended - the whole experience was way better than I had expected.
