Warning to Domain Investors
Warning to Domain Investors: Broken Verification, Unreliable Services, and Support That Solves Nothing
I stopped using Sedo for more than a year because of recurring ownership verification problems, terrible customer service, and the complete frustration of trying to get basic issues resolved.
Recently, I decided to give the company another chance. What a mistake. More than a year later, I returned to face the same problems, the same ineffective responses, and the same lack of meaningful solutions.
I currently have 10 domain names stuck in ownership verification , despite repeatedly following the required procedures, updating nameservers, adding DNS TXT records, and providing screenshots and proof of ownership.
Even more concerning, Sedo's support informed me that certain domains had been successfully verified, while my account continued to display "Ownership Verification Pending." How can a company confirm that a problem has been resolved when its own system still shows otherwise?
And verification is not the only issue.
I have also encountered serious problems with Sedo's sales landing pages, including SSL certificate failures, intermittent HTTP 503/504 errors, and pages that sometimes fail to load properly. These are not minor inconveniences for a domain seller. A sales platform that cannot consistently display its landing pages risks undermining the very transactions it is supposed to facilitate.
I am also still trying to resolve a conflicting listing for a domain I own, despite repeatedly requesting its removal and supplying ownership evidence.
Meanwhile, I have successfully managed more than 100 domain listings across other marketplaces during the same period. Yet with Sedo, I remain stuck dealing with fundamental verification and support issues.
What makes this experience truly unacceptable is not simply the technical failures. It is the way customers are left to deal with them.
The responses I have received have often been generic, automated, or ineffective. Even when support acknowledges an issue or claims it has been resolved, the problem remains. I have spent far too much time repeating the same procedures, submitting evidence, and seeking answers that should not require endless follow-ups.
My experience has seriously made me question whether independent investors receive the same attention as customers with large, high-value portfolios. I cannot speak for Sedo's internal priorities, but as an independent domain investor, I have felt ignored and undervalued.
My warning to new and independent domain investors: Think twice before trusting Sedo with your domain listings and sales operations.
Do not assume that a well-known marketplace automatically provides reliable technology or dependable customer support. Test the verification process, check your landing pages, and consider what happens when you need someone to actually resolve a problem.
I gave Sedo a second chance after more than a year away. Instead of restoring my confidence, the company reminded me exactly why I left.
A company's reputation is not measured by how it treats customers when everything works. It is measured by what happens when customers need help. Sedo has failed me twice.
One star. Too much wasted time, too many unresolved problems, and far too little accountability.
Based on my repeated experience, I strongly advise independent domain investors to consider alternatives that take customer support and technical reliability seriously.

Loyal customer for over 20 years and now screwed over on the last and final payment... 👎😡😥
I have been a loyal Sedo-customer for over 20 years and earned almost € 100000 through them. Now I wanted to close my account and get my last and final payment. They closed my account fast, but will not pay me what they owe me. So I have basically been screwed over by them after being a loyal customer for over 20 years... 👎😡😥 Stay away!
