AVOID AT ALL CO$T$
I contracted with this company in May 2023. My worst experience ever with any company. They picked up my belongings on May 18, 2023, and I was told it would be delivered on May 22, 2023. I called on May 23, asking about the delivery. I was told they have up to two weeks to deliver my belongings. The person was very rude and sent me an email concerning the two weeks delivery policy. I was very upset because I was told I would have my items on that Monday. My items were delivered on June 1, 2023. I was very upset. I incurred over $500 in daily living expenses because I moved over 1000 miles. I didn't have the necessary items to function everyday living. We also had to purchase unnecessary items and clothes.
When things were finally delivered. I had to pay an additional 1500 because they said where I live in an area that didn't allow a tractor-trailer on my street. They said they had to get two box trucks. And additional movers because i had a lot of items. They used 2 guys and the same single box truck to deliver ALL my items. They made two trips. I called the guy and told him this. I asked him why is he charging me 1500 when there were only 2 guys, and they used the same truck. I reiterated what he said about 2 trucks and additional drivers. He was very sarcastic. The price was increased four times from the initial 4k to 7k than an additional 7k and 1500 the day of the delivery.
This company is SCAM, and it was listed 5 stars on goggle. I'm disgusted and very angry. I paid over 15k to have my belongings moved. Several items were either broken, scratched, or stolen. I've only shown a few things. This company is a brokerage company which I didn't know. They get your money and charge double the price. They subcontract their workout and don't tell their customers. I called the company to tell them all the things that were stolen or broken. They referred me to a 3rd party. I was given an email in that email, and it stated to keep the items that were in the packaging. I threw them out, not knowing their poilcy prior to seeing the policy. I was stated you can be denied if you don't have the package it was wrapped in, etc. They don't tell you this prior to contracted.
This company was terrible
This company was terrible. Everything that could be broken was broken. I was quoted one price & I didn't have much but once they came & got all my belongings loaded they added on over a extra thousand dollars. I can say the guys were fast with wrapping my things up & getting them loaded but between the pick up & drop off my items were broken, i.e. fishtank, jewelry armoire, speakers, wall unit & more. I only had basic insurance which didn't cover the damages so they only gave me $150 when my stuff was worth way more. They barely answer the phone once they have your belongings. It took way longer for my items to arrive than they initially stated. This was a big lesson for me. I hope this helps someone else as I didn't read reviews before hand as I was pressed for time & out of town working.
Stolen and damaged items; no communication
I recommend to stay away from SH Movers, and here is why:
1. The company charged me extra $ upon arrival. Staff continued to add to the initial charge I negotiated over the phone with an intermediary == Value Added Moving - Nationwide Interstate Moving Specialists (from which I also recommend to stay away).
2. The company was not responsive to my complaint, which included damage and literally theft of my personal belongings in excess of $2,000.
3. The company representative left keys to my U-Haul unit under the door, which exposed my items to theft/damage.
Thus, please use services of a professional company, not a company with loose standards and unprofessional staff.
Good luck with your move!

Between value added bait and switch con and SH “shoddy” movers this was the worst experience imaginable! Beware!
Burn your stuff or leave it behind before you spend money with these crooks!
Moving with SH Movers in detail
I want to tell my story in detail because when I was looking for information on those companies I didn’t find much besides many fake reviews. So our moving process started with me calling Value Added Moving company and them giving me an estimate. But the trick they do after you describe in detail all items you need to move is they tell you that you would need much smaller space in the truck than you would actually need and they give you a great discount on that price, but the price for square feet stays the same. So this Value Added Moving company are brokers and look on the market for movers with the truck to come to pick up your stuff. You don’t even know which company will come. So in our case, we were very unlucky and our stuff was picked up by SHMovers. If you call their phone they say something like “Sorry our office was affected by covid 19 and all our limited staff is busy with other customers, the best way to contact us is over email”. There is no call waiting for estimates, or offer to call you back, they send you right to the voice mail. And no matter when you call it’s the same result. One time I tried the extension putting my finger in the air and got to some real person, but then he transferred me back to the broker, who told me that I need to contact SHMovers. So it’s a closed circle.. if any problems and you’ll have lots of those with them for sure there is no way to get to them to solve them. So scammy.
So to continue the story on the day SHMovers picked up our stuff after loading it in the truck they told us that we need to pay two and half times more than the estimate, which was 18K.. we didn’t have the choice we had to pay them, because we had to move that day. We gave them a month to drive from the east to the west coast. But when it got to the delivery date, they said it will take additional 7-21 days to deliver. We have 2 small kids and it was a real challenge to be without any furniture with them in an empty house. Apparently, after pick up they unload everything in a local storage facility and then load everything back around the date they were supposed to deliver, so they drive a few more days after that.
So eventually a few days later they arrived.
We needed some paper on outdoor furniture (agricultural matter), but nobody told us anything.. so professional! So our things had to be in quarantine and after delivery, they had to be inspected.
When I was signing the contract the person from Value Added Moving company told us that all items will be disassembled and reassembled at the delivery place and all boxes will be left in the room according to the note on the box. But on the delivery day, it was a mess, they lost some screws from some disassembled furniture and other furniture with screws they refused to assemble. So all disassembled furniture is not useful now. They lost a few other items during that unloading uploading process and they were trying to give us some furniture that wasn’t ours. They have left behind most of the packing material, so we have to utilize it ourselves. I’ve emailed them letting them know about problems but no reply…
Are all moves like that? Or there is a good company out there?
Do not use this company

They made our move a complete nightmare. They completely overcharged us for the move then on delivery pulled a fast one to swindle more money out of us. They never tell you where and when your belongings will arrive. They are misleading everyone step of the way. They lost or broke many of our belongings.
We even got many things they were not even ours. So many of our boxes were damaged, soaking wet and lost. Stay away

They gave us a quote with a square…
They gave us a quote with a square footage price!! They immediately started to prepare us for some gouging nonsense pricing. They wanted $1000 for extra stuff and then an extra $200 dollars for gas to haul the extra square footage. 1: I have a calculator an a phd in mathematics! We were 45 cubic feet over and that's being very generous to the movers. They charge 5 dollars per cubic foot in overage. 5x45= $225!!!! No problem. Only the one in charge said we were 200 cubic feet over..,WE WERE NOT!! He was looking for $1200 extra but said he would drop the extra gas charge if we gave him the $1000... There they are in our driveway with a truck full of stuff and said pay or we take your stuff to storage and charge us even more. Man in charge is lucky I didn't choke him out!!! SCAMMERS! SCAMMERS! SCAMMERS! SCAMMERS! SCAMMERS!!! STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU'RE INTO GETTING ROBBED!!
Are they giving you a discount? Scammers
Are they giving you a discount? Haha you're scammed.
So the good...they did deliver the product
The bad...infact very bad..they take hidden charges at delivery in CASH. Eg. For me it was something called the "long carry" charge which is 75 feet free and 75 for every 75ft thereafter. So it was their problem not mine. So their truck which was different from the one we loaded at my origin couldn't go inside the door of my storage ..haha and they had that big a truck for my handful of items..the delivery guy tells me you have signed contract...which had this fine print of long carry clause..so remember you know how they tell you to read those micro letters in advertisement...so cheap tactics. I was imagining in my head that if in COVID had I put so many microclauses to my patients during the pandemic, it would have been another story.
Another tip is close the deal with them with full charges and nothing to be paid on delivery(which is IN CASH..avoid this loot)
So my personal take is avoid them..truly disappointed.

To Good To Be True? It Is.
Yes, it's one of the scam ones. They give you a reasonable price to start then try to gouge you each step of the way. The "quality assurance call" is a veiled threat to give them more money or they'll leave half your stuff at pickup. Pick up and drop off will be delayed. "Full-pack" means they will throw your stuff in unlabeled boxes with a subcontracted crew. If it seems to good to be true, it is and these guys are scam artists. If you choose to fall for it, be prepared to pay double what they initially quote you.

They gave me a reasonable quote and got me and my family moved out in time. Thanks!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
DO NOT CONTRACT WITH THEM. I'm trying to do you a favor by writing this review. I strongly believe all the 5-star reviews are fake. Just go to the Better Business Bureau website and look at their 1.64 out of 5 star reviews or go to Yelp.
Contracted them for a 4+ bedroom cross country move from VA to OR.
They will charge you double what they initially quote. We were quoted $5500 and charged $12,000. We filed 60 belongings that were cracked, scratched, broken, torn or damaged in some fashion. Currently working through their exceptionally tedious insurance policy protocol.
Response time is abysmal and professional attitude is severely lacking.
They subcontract random people to pack and unpack your belongings, so there is no quality control at all. They hire day workers to do the moving.

This company is totally scam artists
This company is totally scam artists, not only do they not answer the phone after they got your stuff, they could care less about your stuff. I waited over a month for my things and they arrived in smashed boxes, broken table leg, broken lamp, every box the tape was off, the boxes had sand all over the bottom, like it was in a warehouse somewhere, I was told 3 different delivery dates. The day of delivery they charged me an extra $500 and made me go get a money order before they would deliver. Disgusting people!
I gave exact square footage of storage…
I gave exact square footage of storage unit to blake Johnson which was 1500sq ft. They got to storage unit and saw contract said 700+ sq feet. Instead of calling me they loaded my stuff and said they wouldn’t unload it until I paid of $7000 more than the $4000+ estimate they gave me. Blake did not put the correct info on contract and when going over contract had me look only at price on the right side of contract. Me and my sisters spoke to him and gave him correct footage I use to work for a moving company and I knew how important it was to be accurate they agreed to give me a $900 credit after speaking to BBB. I have been trying to speak to owner since August 23rd to no advail. I was told they would be here no latter then August 30th today is September 13th and they call to say they will be here tomorrow. The $900 credit doesn’t even cover what it cost me to live outside my home. They are very shady and take advantage of the disabled. I would do yourself a favor and look elsewhere they are a sham. Look them up on the BBB it’s crazy how many bad reviews they received I wish I didn’t listen to blake when he said the bad reviews were because they didn’t pay the Better Business Bureau

SH Movers - Not writing my review yet, just want my stuff
Not writing a review yet, just looking for the missing boxes of my belongings. There are 11 boxes that have not been accounted for - I’m missing the contents of my home office along with household items & controllers for key electronic pieces. All boxes were packed in U-Haul boxes - have Florida & Spare room most likely written across the top. May have my last name as well. Contents of boxes are needed to get my office set up. Missing books, folders, card decks to name a few. If you’ve received boxes with your delivery that are labeled AS 0209 & they are not yours - please reach out. Thank You in advance for your help in retrieving my belongings
I am not writing a review right now
I am not writing a review right now, but I am asking anyone who might have received boxes with silverware and a blue storage ottoman that’s filled with linen to please call the company and see if they can pick them up. The delivery might have happened 8/19-21. I will plead with them to see if they can get them to me. I am missing a few boxes but those two things are dear to me. Thank you
SCAM!
SCAM!! Terrible company to deal with. Charged double and broke many items. Avoid at all costs!
