Outstanding service

I recently purchased a pack of Old Maid playing cards way up in the Outer Hebrides. After playing one game we noticed that a couple of the cards were missing . Straight away I emailed House of Marbles and I received a very quick response. Brilliant . Then in no time was asked for my address so they could post me the missing cards . Fantastic . The customer service is outstanding . Communication, exceptional. This is definitely a company I will go to again .

I purchased a solitaire set of 22mm…

I purchased a solitaire set of 22mm handmade marbles which arrived extremely well packed.
Unfortunately, one of the marbles appeared to have suffered stress cracks during transit. (Hardly surprising, considering how they are made). I requested a similar replacement and was surprised to receive it via Fedex within a couple of days, so well packed it was like unwrapping russian dolls. I my eyes, service way above the norm for most online stores nowadays. Thank you very much!

DO GO AND MARVEL AT THE WONDERS

My wife and I often pop into this unusual, if not unique, emporium, cafe and museum.

I have just scanned through most of the bad reviews, which are generally about the food. Well, I sympathise, of course, but as we only usually have coffee, I want to draw readers' attention to the rest of the place, as it is quite 'something else', as they say!

Go there and marvel at the skill of the creators of the whizzing things whose works captivate children, mums and dads and grandparents. Delight in the creativity of the lady blowing glass into an exquisite, richly coloured fruit bowl, wonder at the long rotating 'thingamajig'. It must have made golf ball sized marbles.

Outside the kilns stand as a proud memorial to many local 19th Century workers who fed their families on their wages from these sensible employers.

There really is so much to wonder at, even if you buy nothing. Free admission, and thank you for that, I can never drive past, I must pop in.

Disappointing service from the cafe

Excellent place, but a dismal trip to the cafe. A very nice cafe environment and garden, but very poor service, when trying to order from the garden. We waited 10 minutes before they came out to the garden to take our order. Then we waited another 20 minutes for two cups of coffee. We have been many times and their system used to be so much better. However, very nice waiting staff.

VERY POOR!!!!!!!!!!!!

My eleven years old son made a purchase of marbles.

He carefully selected a number of marbles. When they were received, a number of the marbles were broken/damaged due to the poor packing. He sent a photo of the broken/damaged marbles.

He complained about the marbles and two weeks later he received a replacement for the broken/damaged marbles. However, they weren’t a direct replacement for the marbles he carefully chose and shown in the photo he sent.

He complained again over a month ago only for the complaint to be completely ignored.

My son is a very disappointed customer.

What a let down.

We decided to meet up here as a family reunion not having seen each other for some time. Having done a tour of the shop and the glass blowing, which was very interesting and entertaining we decided to go to the restaurant for lunch. Unfortunately my daughter discovered a lump of mud in her food which she reported to the staff but they didn't appear to be interested. We were going to say something when we paid but they appeared to be short staffed and they were in a hurry to get us through. I was so disappointed as I had been recommended to go there but after this experience I will certainly be avoiding the restaurant.

Don't buy Tinka Tek kits made by this…

Don't buy Tinka Tek kits made by this company - the instructions are almost impossible to follow and mini tools provided are ill fitting. Sold as mini engineering kits to inspire the next generation - not actually possible for children to make them! Took 2 adults and a lot of googling to get there in the end!

We visited to celebrate our daughters Birthday

We visited to celebrate our daughters 13th Birthday and really enjoyed the Glass and Pottery sections. The Museums are very interesting. The Shop has a good selection of related items and we all enjoyed buying gifts. The restaurant looked nice so we decided to have Fish and Chips, sitting in the Courtyard. The meals and drinks were brought fairly quickly and looked appetising. I was enjoying mine until I discovered a Black Hair in my Mouth! trying to forget it I carried on eating.....until I discovered another Black Hair! My appetite just left me but I told my wife and daughter that I was full because our daughter is Autistic and she may have reacted badly. I left the table to pay the bill alone with the intention of mentioning the problem to someone but the Lady who came to the till was busy and left quickly. My daughter has asked for a return visit and I am happy to go back, it's a nice place but I have been put off the Restaurant, I think to find a Hair in a plate of food is not welcome but to find two suggests a kitchen lacking basic hygiene rules.
