I have been scammed and deceived

I have changed my contract to live in Denmark. They have taken away the unlimited kilometers, and they have given me 500. I have paid € 600 more. They have not informed me well, and I want them to give me that € 600 back. and also charged me an insurance that I had already paid

Dear Vicente,

We are worry to hear about your experience.

I have see in the system, that you booked the car through Wisecars. And they are responsible to inform you abou the special rules we have about Danish resident prices and Non-danish prices.
When yoyu are living in Denmark, we can offer you a car with 100 km or 200 km pr. day and non.danish customers can get unlimited mileage.
Unfortunately, the Danish tax rules are designed so that you as a Dane may only drive a car for which full tax has been paid (as opposed to a foreigner who can drive a tax-free car). Therefore, there is a difference in prices.

Worst company

This is the worst company ever, not only do they charge you 350 kr for "not enough deposit" to find out that they keep my 3000 kr deposit (which they didnt even knew about, before i let them know) its been more than 2 weeks ago, and i have yet to see the money appear in my account.

I had a great experience with Service…

I had a great experience with Service Agent Pia P. There was a minor dispute regarding some tiny scratches on the car as to whether the were incurred previously or during our 24hr rental and initially I felt helpless, as I know it was our responsibility to thoroughly check the car over. Regardless, I reached out to Sixt and explained the situation and could not believe Pia's response, "I will give you the benefit of the doubt". I'm from North America and I find customer service to be an area that is no longer prioritized and really lacking these days. It was so refreshing to encounter such a positive experience with someone who actually listened and cared, so much so that I made a Trust Pilot account just to share this review. Thank you Pia for your consideration and thank you Sixt for prioritizing customer service. I can definitely say that Sixt will remain at the top of my list of companies to rent from thanks to this interaction.

Over charged and poor customer service

I recently hired a car for 9 days and returned the car within this period. However, I returned the car out of office hours using the convenient key drop service in Copenhagen city centre. However, I was dismayed to then learn I had been billed for an extra day hire because Sixt had made a “mistake” in logging the return of the car.
Whilst I appreciate mistakes can happen, the customer service received in dealing with the mistake was most unsatisfactory. I have used Sixt before but will now always look to use other vehicle hire companies first for my future business.
If you hire a car with SIXT then please be aware of their flawed processes and how it could cost you money, or leave you out of pocket whilst they remediate their error!

Dear Richard,

First of all, thank you for your review. We are sincerely sorry for your inconvenience.

Yes, we did make a mistake like you described, but when returning the car after closing time, the contract will not be closed before the next day. Unfortunately we forgot to correct the time of the return which unfortunately means that you was charged for an extra day.

However this was changed immediately as we spoke on the phone, and as I also informed you, the money charged for the extra day, would be refunded to you.

Like others Sixt claims damage.

Like others, Sixt is claiming a damage to a car that was not fit for rental. This time it is a dent on the number plate. The car was way due inspection/oil change/service and "auto-stop-start" failed to restart the engine couple of times. Parking brake got stuck repeatedly, that also indicates lack of service. The car had lot of scratches when I got it, some were noted in the rental agreement but in vague manner so it was impossible to tell which was which.
Overall experience with Sixt was bad, long wait and borderline rude staff. I asked to be present when the car was inspected up on return but was denied, in a polite way though.

Thank you !

We have experienced an exemplary customer service at Sixt in Copenhagen City, Nyropsgade 42 with a friendly and competent team helping in the best way to organise and plan our car rental and trip to sweden. A slight struggle was perfectly handled by the customer support of Jonathan who was dedicated set up a very fair refund after we had a minor issue with a mechanic break down of the car durring the trip. Overall we have been very well supported by well organised interlinking efforts by both Sixt teams in Copenhagen and Malmo and therefore would like to recommend Sixt to anyone looking for a car rental in those regions.

Never book at Sixt Danmark!!!!

I had a damage which i didn’t even remember during my rental in copenhagen last summer. It was a small scratch of less 5 cm at the aluminium rims. Sixt in Switzerland told me they would’t even charge a damage in this size. However Sixt Denmark charged me 5726 DKK. If Sixt Switzerland would charge a damage like this it would cost me max. 1500 DKK.I had various correspondences with Sixt customer service without any results.
Even the repair days of 3 days are unreasonable. Sixt switzerland campaigned and I should now only pay 2 repairdays. How ridiculous! A lawyer told me to pay the bill because I have no change in this fraud because it didn't happen in Switzerland.
I am incredibly disappointed.

Yet another Damage claim

Seems like I'm the latest to encounter a mystery "damage" claim by Sixt Copenhagen, I picked up a vehicle with 38K km's on it and 5 known /existing damages noted, ie small chips in the glass and a couple of superficial scratches, overall the vehicle condition was fair for a vehicle with 38K km's on it, ie minor surface scratches to the paint as would be expected and not factory condition. After returning the vehicle I received a claim for a superficial scratch, something so minor that it would clean up with a wax and polish.Happy to provide a picture

Scammed very badly

I leased a car from them 3 weeks ago. The car signaled that it had to go to service. First of all its not secure that they just give a car probably that has not been to service for a long time.

Anyways I called them about it and they said that I should take it to service cause they dont have an available car for me. So unprofessional! Then they called me again and said 'ok we actually have a replacement bring it here'.

They took it service and at service they realised that there were scratches on the rim. Which is for sure not caused by me since I never parallel parked and I park at the same spot that is quite spacious both at work and at home. I asked them if the scratches could be from the customer before or maybe they did it while taking it to service. And they said they are checking everything and sending it to service after each customer which is a lie cause then why would the service light would show. They said I should ve checked and tell them the scratches when I received the car. It is impossible to see every small scratch.

And anyways I said ok give me the car back I still have 5 months lease left and I ll pay for the rims at the end cause at least I used it 5 more months and maybe I will actually do something and then can feel better about paying for it. They said they are gonna give me a new car and that they can not give me the one that just was in the service cause their system is a puzzle!! What !! so it was not enough to scam once they needed to scam more. Never ever use sixt.

Never use SIXT in Kastrup, Copenhagen

Do not use Sixt for car rental.

I booked online living abroad, paid in advance, as this would bring me to a cheaper option.

Counter was very busy and had to wait a long time. Finally reached the counter and no explanation whatsoever. No one is coming with you to go through the car, no one is explaining you what the procedure is. Which then results in an extra invoice of 3000 DKK because they claim I made a scratch on the hubcap.
There is no customer service whatsoever and no consistency in their procedures, if there are any procedures.
I am not looking for feedback from Sixt because I have been discussing with them for months, but I want people to be aware that you should claim that someone should go with you to check the car and get a sign off.
When you return the car outside hours it will be at your risk which is written in very small letters. Please provide a pop up that will provide this information before payment is done.
And also I may mention that I had my drivers license for 24 years without any damage, I am a very honest person and would of course tell if I made a scratch.
This summer I rented twice in same holiday and no consistency in their procedures. No customer service.

Beware - scam company!

I rented a car that had 18(!) registered damages on it, including the entire side mirror being smashed. When I returned it, they claim that I somehow caused a scratch in the paint on the left door, which cost 4000 DKK to repair. I barely drove the car (~15 km), and certainly did not scratch anything, but it's impossible to prove, and it's impossible to check every little scratch before rental if there's 18 existing more of less serious damages.

Never use Sixt. They will blame you for something you have no way out of, charge you a lot of money, and they do it every time. Just read any review online. They are scammers. You will pay thousands.

Don't rent from them

Don't rent from them. The CPH Airport branch is particularly bad, they will go to great lengths to charge massive amounts for the smallest thing not covered. I rent cars about 50-60 times a year and this is by far the most aggressive company out there. They will make you pay!!!

Sixt denmark - Terrible.

I rent fm the Sixt Copenhagen airport at least 200 days a year...and still I get the worst service ever even though I am a Platinum member. I use other Sixt offices around Europe and always find them much more corteous and with a much better fleet of vehicles.

excessive repair fee

I rented a car for a week from Sixt Denmark and was informed there were 3 small scratches on the doors upon returning the car. The scratches he’s were small enough that I wouldn’t have noticed them during a causal inspection. The scratches really were tiny and something that could be sorted out with a 5$ “magic car paint pen”. I was charged 1000 Euro (7700 DKK) and told there was no recourse for complaint and had to pay it. Not great.

It seems like they have hired a PR company to improve their rating. Sixt had no interest in hearing my complaint when I raised at the time but send an email to me 3 years after it happened asking for further information to determine if my experience was legitimate when their trust pilot ratings tank. It’s an Interesting way of doing business Sixt?

Thanks for your review on Trustpilot.

Based on your review, Sixt Danmark would like a little more information about your experience. This will help them write a more useful reply to you. It'll also help them verify that you’ve had a genuine experience with their business.

Of course, it’s totally up to you what you share.

An unprofessional experience.

An unprofessional experience.

I found an offer on a car to rent, on the mobile app (where all my personal information already was typed in). And when i got to the desk to pick up the keys she just found one on the computer that was bit more expensive (which I at first didn't see because of the deposit that were stacked ontop of the price.) NOT that i have anything against the deposit. if this was it, it would be fine and i would happily rent again.

after acting kinda surprised that I didn't want the expensive insurance,
She proceeded to give me the list of damage there was to the car (which is also understandable, a lot of people have used this car).
But just one of the examples was the wheel trims, they were marked as damaged. I asked if I had to pay for that, if they choose to fall off while I was driving, and yes I would (I kinda understand). Only if i bought the MOST expensive insurance they had, I would (in a way) not be paying for it. Kinda annoying but typical rent/contract mombo jumbo. I declined because I just needed to drive from one airport to another, I would return it within 2-3 hours.

While doing this, I could NOT get any information on how I return a car. not on the app, the website NOR from the lady at the desk, because she had never been at the other drop-off site. Would the return system not be the same everywhere?
We ended up just parking the car in a "Sixt" marked parking space and returning the key in a mail box. not knowing if they in any way needed to know where I parked the car. (In what lot)

When leaving the office in Billund to get the car she told me if i had any questions about the car, i could talk to the workers on the site where the car was parked, which was fine. I got there and the car had a tire pressure error (marked by an yellow icon in the dash)
not knowing if they wanted me to drive with that i decided to talk with one of the two who were on site. Not one of them understood Danish (which is fine it is an airport) but only one spoke a little English - only key words like "error, yellow light and tire" he fixed it within 2 minutes which was nice, but when i got to the highway (few minutes after) I saw that the dashboard was still ind a "mode" from when he fixed the tire pressure.. so all the information that is usually available, was not.

If one or two of these events happened alone it would be fine. but there was just so much "OK i guess.. its fine then" kinda work involved. This was not a good experience for me at all.

Only issue in Denmark .... making extra money

I had a similar experience at Sixt Billund Airport. Car was very dirty with loads of bird droppings all over. It was collected after 9pm and as there is literally no light in the carpark it’s difficult to straight away check the car but you have to drive to the nearest gas station. There is also no Sixt staff available if you find additional damages. Instead you have to email your damage report to an .dk address (we still have not received an reply or acknowledgement of ours).
We only drove a short distance and the car was parked on a private property for our two day rental. On return, once again there was no staff available and there was no one around in the office so we had to use the key drop after waiting for 1 hour as we otherwise would have missies our flight.
Today I received an email from Sixt that there is apparently damage to the car. From the “standard” email they probably send out to every customer it sounded like there was substantial damage to the car happened during our rental period. Looking at the pictures supplied it’s actually a superficial mark, not longer than 2cm on top of the bumper. The pictures are really bad quality but you can see that they did not break the surface. I am asked to send in a “damage report”?!?! The car was fine when it was returned but as the car was parked close to the pavement it might very well happened by someone either walking along with luggage or similar. This can certainly be polished out.

I personally don’t care about the cost for any potential damage as I have excess protection insurance but I don’t like the way Sixt DK is operating. I have been a long standing customer and have rented from Sixt pretty much from the day the company was founded and have never experienced anything like this.

I am sure the Sixt DK employees trolling this forum and leaving replies will argue that while the car is in my possession that it is my responsibility if it has additional damage. He doesn’t except any liability on the operation and service at Sixt DK stations. I have emailed Sixt Head Office customer support in Germany so they are aware of the operation of Sixt DK. I am sure they don’t agree on the operation in Billund and looking at this forum and the recent history of cases similar to mine even further indicates that there is something wrong here.

Not sure if Sixt Germany is continuing to be happy to lend their good name to this shoddy operation.

Avoid Copenhagen Airport Sixt at all Costs

Absolutely ridiculous.

We rent cars routinely (in Copenhagen and beyond) and generally experience reasonable service, until now. Copenhagen airport rental cars are held in a dark parking garage, where visibility is quite limited (and small blemishes go unnoticed, without issue). However, Sixt is attempting to charge ~500 Euros for a hairline scratch on the rear bumper of our rental, which was very well there before we picked up the vehicle. Yet, we are asked to foot the bill for a nearly unnoticeable blemish. On top of that, we’ve been invoiced ~300 euros for a "dirty interior" … somehow I thought the job of attendants was to clean the vehicle when it is returned. Clearly I was mistaken.

I cannot help but think these spurious charges are somehow related to the attendant seeing me drop off the vehicle — while wearing weekend attire, not fitting the description of an “ethnic Dane”.

I will take my business elsewhere, and suggest that you do the same.

AVOID THEM - THEY WILL CHARGE YOU MUCH MORE THAN YOU SAVED.

My wife rented twice at Sixt/Flizzr in Billund airport in a month time earlier this year. Both times, after she returned the car, they sent us an invoice for small damages to the car. The first one was for one little windscreen scratch hidden behind the mirror – approx. 300€! Second time was for small scratches on 2 wheels – approx. 700€!!! We know for sure that it did not happen when she had the car, but of course no way to prove it; the car was picked up at night = impossible to spot these scratches when picking up the car. Worst, the day after you returned the keys, they first drive the car to be washed, and then take pictures; so it is possible that their own staff damaged the car – would not surprise me when you look at them driving the cars to / from the car park!
I asked them a copy of the repair costs – they replied it will not be repaired until they sell the car. In other words, they charge customers for x times small scratches at 700€ a piece and then repair it once – for a fraction of the cost.
Of course, they will reply to this post arguing that it is my fault, it is according to the contract, … But we rent cars both privately and for work often, and I have never seen this. It even happened in the past that I did cause small scratches, and the rental car agencies said they don’t charge for minor scratches.
Anyhow, just look for reviews of Sixt Denmark – Trustpilot, facebook, google – you will see abnormally MANY similar stories.
