Skinny as a provider are one of the cheapest but it really is counter productive when their app has major issues with loading and conectivity. I can never seem to load credit, update card info, renew... See more

Appalling service
Appalling service, nothing like the adds would have you believe. Chat (non live) starts and one question is answered then they go away and the whole waiting scenario (1 or 2 days) has to start again to get any other questions answered. I joined 7 days ago and leaving to go to another provider. There is no customer service worth talking about. Even when bringing my number to Skinny was not easy and once was given instructions about making my number private, it didn't work, went to Google to get the answer, the correct one at that!
Clearly this company is very mismanaged at the detriment of paying customers.
RECOMMENDATION = AVOID
Absolutely horrible!
Absolutely horrible!
I have been struggling with them since the day we decided to join! Took me more than a month and hours on hold to get us joined and our broadband working. After a few months we had to cancel because we are moving. Once again spent hours on the phone waiting for someone to answer. Spoke to a representative they confirmed the cancellation fee and few days later I received a email confirmation of the price aswell. When it came to paying they deducted more than double the price from my account. Tried getting answers from them on why sending screenshots of previous communication showing the amount they told me. But no answer they kept on going in circles without giving me anything! I work from home so need internet up until the day we move. Paid for the entire month for 1 week , meaning I paid for the internet until the 1st of February. Now 31st January 1pm they disconnect my internet???? If only they were as prompt with their customer service as they are with disconnecting your services..
This company is dangerously bad
This company is dangerously bad. Rip off service. No support.
They can't read…
No issues with internet connectivity while we had their service but more expensive than others. When we decided to change and gave them a months notice, told them the date we would be cancelling from they promptly cancelled our internet within a couple of hours leaving us with no connection.
Not worth the hassle use another provider
Terrible customer service, purchased an Esim to use while I’m back in New Zealand visiting family. Never received the QR code to setup. Have now relayed the same information / details (order number, personal details etc.) to multiple different customer service representatives, taking days between responses from skinny. Have now requested a refund. At this stage I have no eSIM, no refund confirmed and no response.
Update - I moved to Spark who setup the eSIM within minutes. Skinny provided a refund.
Had internet issues with Skinny for…
Had internet issues with Skinny for almost 3 weeks. Support was very slow, taking 3-4 days per reply, and the issue was never resolved. We decided to cancel and clearly provided the cancellation date and address. After 3 days days, they asked for the same info, saying notice must be 48 hours before last day of billing, and the last date is tomorrow. Extremely disappointed with the slow, unhelpful support.
An waste of time and effort…
An absolute waste of time and effort from start to finish. Customer service is appalling and they make One NZ look like friendly geniuses. Don’t bother with mobile or fibre.
Appalling customer service
Tried to set up with a esim and transfer from old network. Didn’t work so contacted skinny- they told me would be sorted in 48 hours. (Advised a new QR code would be generated and one didn’t work)
Called back again after 4 days not hearing anything, two hours in the phone and told new query will also take 48 hours. What happened to the original?!
Ended up asking them to cancel it outright, I do not want to sign up with a company this poor from the outset. I’ve been signed up for 4 days, have ant no point had a functional sim. Appalling customer care. It remains to be seen if the refund will be processed or if I will have to chase them for that too.
Absolutely rubbish service .from 9am…
Absolutely rubbish service .from 9am have been waiting to be reconnected with my broadband and there’s no livechat available and the 0800number is digital only message with Facebook.had one reply before lunch and replied straight away only to get seen and not even RECONNECTED.now it’s closed and my family has no wifi!!!!!!!
Not worth the hassles
Absolutely rubbish, Terrible customer service.Have had issues from day one.Constantly having to top up even on a $40 unlimited plan.Come new years could only make emergency calls! Sign up again to a $40 unlimited plan they took my money and still not able to make calls.Waste of time trying to call support if you do get through get ready for 45mins of security questions and too and fro to their superiors even so your problems wont get resolved.Better off with another more professional company.
Use another supplier.

Everything is good, until you have an issue. They are hard to get in contact with and very rude.
No help at all!

Never had issues then tried topping up my daughters phone today. How difficult to simply top up. Finally got credit on her phone and it was gone within a day and we haven't even changed her monthly plan. Terrible reception. Terrible service. Cheap is not always better. Finding another provider!

Awful wireless broadband allways cutting out
Eight years of great experience.
I've been with Skinny mobile for over eight years now, and I have never had any issues with them. The only mess up that I've had is on my end where I've either needed my sim lock number to unlock the sim card or recently to transfer my number to a new sim card since I lost my phone. I'll always recommend them to family and friends of given the chance.
Was with skinny for a years and years…
Was with skinny for a years and years until they took away their Free Data Weekends. so I switched over to One NZ but still stayed on skinny broadband. ever since then we’ve been having problems with the broadband. Problems we’ve never had in the 7 years we’ve used them but suddenly there’s problems? Sounds like sabotage. Whatever. Keep this up we’ll move our broadband too.
Crap slow service
Switched phone to Skinny mobile and their coverage is useless, I never get more than three bars, mostly just one. Got 10g data and unlimited when that runs out but jeez it runs out quick. Moved house and decided to go with their 300 Fibre plan because I get a discount with mobile. Signed up ten days ago and still havnt received a modem. After searching to find a contact number was on hold for 1.5 hours and then got told they would ring me back. Got a missed call so I phoned the number back and it was Spark who has no idea who I was. Then got an email saying the date I will be connected and how to plug in modem etc so apparently I’m now connected but no modem. They don’t respond to emails or Facebook chat. I will be switching to Unifone as soon as I can. Would not recommend Skinny to anyone.
Absolutely aweful
Absolutely aweful! We’ve been without Wi-Fi for the past 3 days. We’ve tried contacting Skinny, and just been left on hold for ages. Absolutely useless!
Abysmal
Awful, I hardly ever have any mobile coverage and when I contact their customer service they're not very helpful. The problem is with their coverage, not my phone, so their trouble shooting tips are useless. I'll be shopping around for something else
Pathetic useless non existent service…
Pathetic useless non existent service team! They refuse to help whatsoever!! I've ordered a broadband with a new modem. NZ post lost my modem, and got an email confirming they lost it. Once I've contacted Skinny and informed them NZ post lost my modem they refused to help me and repost a modem! In the mid-time I have NO internet for 3 weeks! Absolutely absurd, they do not care, completely incompetent staff. Appalling service! never again!!
Poor coverage, worst customer support
Poor coverage, if you run over and don’t renew in time you will loose any funds you have on your account. You will have issue loading other apps and using data even if you have funds on account. They will use the excuse and say it was down to premium messages and background data!. 3 days working through chat support and the team can’t understand basic English and I’ve gotten nowhere. I pay $70 a month as the extra day charges if you go over are a joke. If your phone is showing 4/5g full bars but your data is slow add or non existent the support team only know how to encourage you to rest phone, network and change an imp pin. Which guess what does work. You will never get a good will gesture for being inconvenienced. The awards they get are clearly a setup. Don’t waste your time.
